A: Opaque black, less than 1 fingers width of mocha colored head dissipates down quickly and leaves essentially zero lacing. 4.25

S: Great nose. Tons of chocolate, fudgey, nutty, roasty, charred wood. Great balance of sweetness and roasted characters. I don’t get many barrel notes, but still excellent aroma. 4.5

T: Very sweet with honey up front, followed by roasted malts on the back end. Chocolate fudge, bitter coffee, a bit of booze. Barrel notes more prominent than in the aroma with oak, char, and vanilla. 4.5

M/D: Medium bodied, could stand to be thicker/fuller, carbonation appropriately low, drinkability is good but somewhat limited secondary to the big sweetness. 4.25

O: Excellent beer, the big sweetness reminds me of 50/50 Eclipse, with weaker barrel notes which gives it less balance. Sweetness becomes a bit much at times, a couple extra months in the barrel and this beer would be elite. Very enjoyably nonetheless. 4.5

I was blown away by this beer. Silky mouthfeel. Tons of coffee and dark chocolate notes at the first smell and confirmed in the taste. The hint of honey is subtle but a welcome addition. An excellent beer that I wish I had more of.
