Drank from a 22 fluid ounces/1pint 6 fl. oz. bottle purchased at Appalachian Vinter, Asheville, NC
Bottling date 8/3/16
Served in a snifter

Dark brown/black appearance. Medium bodied for the style. Somewhat oily. The liquid was topped by a thin, patchy film of tan froth that transformed into a bubbly ringlet. Minimal lacing.

The nose was rich and robust. Big, roasty, dark malt notes were nicely matched by loads of sweet molasses and brown sugar. Bourbon came through strong. Super smooth and really fragrant. Vanilla was noticeable as well. Bit of tart raspberry in the background.

Roasted malts led things off in the flavor profile. Some bitter espresso appeared in the center. Hint of tart fruitiness. More roast and bitterness came through on the back end. The beer finished somewhat ashy with a fairly big, boozy kick. The actual bourbon presence was rather mild however.

The mouthfeel was medium bodied. Soft and smooth but a touch thin for the style. The liquid contained a fine, subtle effervescence.

Although the raspberry, the honey and the bourbon barrel all had minimal impact on this beer's flavor and aroma, Lindley Park is still very a solid imperial stout. While I probably would not actively seek this out, I was glad I picked up a bottle on my recent Asheville vacation.

Pours a one to one and a half finger coppery brown head atop a predictably black body. Little to no lacing at all.

Nose has a lot happening. Molasses, raspberry, vanilla, brown sugar(that too much like molasses??) and caramel.

Taste is bursting with raspberry, tell you that right now. I mean wow, this is absolutely a raspberry bomb. Massive. I've had beers before that promised raspberry, this is the first to deliver, and deliver it does, in spades. I mean, damn. OK, getting past that, we have some chocolate and hints of vanilla. Virtually no heat at all, as this is a chocolate covered raspberry aperitif.

This beer is just about the most well thought out adjunct enhanced beer I've ever had. Again, damn.

Wasn't a big fan of this one. Nice chocolate flavor but the raspberry flavor underneath just didn't work for me. I still thought this was a good beer, just not a fan of the flavor profile. Also didn't really get much bourbon flavor in it, was kind of disappointed.

2015 version, aged about 9 months.
