Brewed in honor of the poor souls who live in a part of the Blue Ridge Mountains said to be "as cold as seven devils".

Seven Devils is a Scottish-Style Ale aged in bourbon barrels to create an liberation to delight the soul. Rich, smooth malt blended with the complex flavors associated with bourbon. Perfect for the winter months.

Bottle poured into a tulip. Scotch ale aged in bourbon barrels should be my happy place. Not this time. Cloudy dark amber, no head but a bit fizzy in the mouth. Not much to smell. Taste starts with bourbon, not as malty as I would expect, fades kind of quickly. Not bad, but not meeting hopes.

Picked up a 12 oz bottle from the Blue Door Bottleshop in Hendersonville 7-11-22 for $6.75. Bottled 12-10-21; consumed 11-10-22.

Beer opened with some carbonation and a tiny gusher and as a result poured a flat brown.

Nose is very nice with hints of vanilla and bourbon.

Taste is a large malt base nicely complimented with time in the barrel which lends a nice balancing touch of vanilla with the bourbon lending the balancing touch.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.

Overall another well done barreled brew. This one rivals a larger northern brewer's version of a BA Scotch ale!

12 oz bottle from the Wall of Beer in Clemson SC ($5.19) with a 1 August 2019 bottling date.
Pouring this greatly anticipated BBA ale into my Belgian snifter revealed an attractive, clear dark mahogany colored body with a rather minimal head.
Aroma. Enticing, complex, woody and slightly earthy with light bourbon and hints of roasted nuts and dark chocolate.
Flavor. Largely follows the aroma,, adding a nice light sweetness to a harmonius mix. Very good use of BBA.
Feel. Smooth with well hidden ABV.
Overall. An exceptional Wee Heavy but a bit high priced.

22 ounce bottle into a snifter. Bottled 1/24/18, had 11/24/18.

Pours a fairly clear darker amber, with no head and a few bubbles when you swish it around. Aromas of bourbon, caramel, malt, dates, figs. The flavor expands on the aroma a little- caramel, bourbon, malt, figs, dates, light oak, faint cherries. Smooth, a good but much thinner body for the style, appropriately carbonated.

Great aroma and expressive flavor, but the thinness does detract a bit from the overall impression. Very good barrels accompany a straightforward rendering of the style. Great price point and well worth a purchase.

Look: It pours brown with a tan head. Head retention is medium low.

Smell: There is a strong caramel aroma with a low level of nuts and bourbon.

Taste: The bourbon is more prominent in the flavors, but the caramel is still a bit stronger. There is still some low nut in the background. There is a low dark cherry note in the background.

Feel: It has a medium full body and smooth alcohol warming.

Overall, the flavors are wonderful especially with the bourbon. Great alcohol warming as well.

22oz bottle dated 01/24/18 poured into a short chalice has a muddy, cloudy, orangish-brown body and no head as the carbonation audibly explodes and disappears at the surface and leaves a clean glass behind.

Aromas include toffee, vanilla, smoke and booze.

Flavors are more nuanced. Bourbon notes of oak, molasses, vanilla, toffee, and caramel meld with the stone fruits; plum and apricot, and a vinous must quality.

Mouthfeel is a lighter leaning medium that finishes clean.

Overall a great tasting scotch ale in bourbon, if thin.

Very Good Wee Heavy. Poured from a 22 oz. bottle into a pint glass. Small off-white, bubbly head that fades very fast. minimal lacing on the glass. Nice medium density brown color with plenty of reddish highlights coming through. Aroma and taste are very strong, more like a 10 - 11% abv Wee Heavy or Stout. Strong, sweet. malty aroma and flavor, huge amount of bourbon barrel presence and some oak bitterness. There is also some of the toffee aroma and flavor characteristic of Wee Heavy beers. Mouthfeel is rich and smooth, somewhat sweet with little in the way of alcohol presence/burn. Goes down real easy with rich flavors all around. I bought this bottle on a trip, would gladly seek out more if it was available here.

This is a nice barrel aged scotch ale. Not the best nor the worst I've had. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but the taste bring in enough flavor from the mash to compensate. The bourbon is a perfect dimension, really bringing out the molasses, tobacco, brown sugar and woody toffee. Smell is even better, inviting the drinker to the rest of the soul warming beer

Smells brown sugar, dark fruit, bourbon and vanilla.

Tastes caramel, brown sugar, vanilla, dark fruit, bourbon and light earthiness. Finish is semi sweet with brown sugar and bourbon linger. Medium body and smooth lower carbonation
