Pours an opaque rich amber/honey colour. Looks like delicious homemade apple cider. Small head, decent retention for it's starting size, minimal lacing.
The nose starts off with some floral hop notes, but gives way pretty quickly to bread dough. Like straight up freshly kneaded bread dough. I happen to love baking, so this is actually really enticing to me, but I don't get the big oily aroma that others seem to be noticing.
There's some bready malt in the flavour, but the hops definitely step up and take center stage here. I'm getting largely piney and pithy grapefruit. There's a calm honey/caramel to help the back end slope off instead of just dying, but the aftertaste returns the dominant grapefruit rind.
Good medium to thick body with a hugely bitter finish that I almost want to refer to as dry, but am hesitant to do so.
Hides the alcohol very well, as the hops step in and command all the attention.
Good DIPA, very enjoyable on this fathers day (I gotta remember to call my dad!); enjoyable as a treat, but not one I would drink every single day.

So happy to see plenty of this one on the shelves at my local haunt. Grabbed some and popped a bottle with a friend whilst we played some darts.
Now this is the chunkiest beer I have ever poured. A massive amount of yeast sediment floats in this beer. It reminded me of that Orbitz drink from when I was a kid...but I hope these chunks aren't to be chewed. A cloudy dark honey color with a small white cap of lace. Spotty lace sticks to the glass. Aroma is pretty fresh with lots of citrus - pineapple, grapefruit and starfruit.
The body is a bit slick with a slightly oily feel on the finish. Drinks easy enough though. Carbonation level is moderate. Nice hoppy flavor that keeps me sipping as nothing really lingers. It's not the freshest or juiciest of hops as far as flavor goes, but they impart a nice bitter pop for sure. Mild peppery finish. Sweet and bold, this one is a good one. Nice work, OHB, I much prefer this to it's "milder" sibling, Death by Hops.

Hazy amber pour into a becher, a finger of white head dwindling down to a thin foamy layer rather quickly, leaving light lacing on the glass. Lots of malty sweetness in the aroma, unfortunately, soapy, with some citrus and pine hops in the background. More of that malty sweetness in the taste, giving way to a strong bitterness, notes of orange pith and pine resin, dry, bready, and somewhat bland malts making a reprise, ending with a sticky sweetness on the palate. This seems to be the curse of many a DIPA: using too much malts to get that ABV, without having enough balance in the recipe to keep the hops in command. The bottle said Feb. '14, so it's not like it was a freshness issue. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel and a bit rough overall. Not entirely bad, good for a homebrew kit, but not something I'd go for again.
