Bottled in Jan.:

Pours clouded golden yellow with a thick creamy white head that leaves plenty of trailing lace in its descent.

The smell is of coriander, orange and lemon, banana fruitiness and spicy/bready wheat.

The taste of lemon dominates the taste. It's rather a let-down after the aroma. Some coriander/black pepper and wheat mix in, but so does a touch of mustiness. Something "lemon-ade"-ish about the taste.

Somewhat creamy and light-bodied, this could be refreshing on a hot day, but that's about it.

After sampling a few Legacy brews at this years Beats, Brews, and BBQ fest I was intrigued to try more and review some of this Reading based Pretzel capital of the world's brewing company. I had the opportunity to taste this one at Fathead's where it was served in a standard pint appearing a very similar pale lemonade yellow very similar to Hoegaarden with a nice sized bright white head leaves sparse lacing as it dwindles. Aromatics full o' coridander and citrus tones sharp wheat with a touch of acidity present to the nose along with a bready yeast character. Flavor department contains more coriander and citrus peel tones with evident wheat bite finishes with a touch of herbal hops and low bitterness and detectable yeast tones. Mouthfeel light and airy carbonation lighter bodied summer thirst quencher somewhat creamy texture. Drinkability is quality definitely screams summer.

The beer poured a nice hazy golden color with a nice creamy white head. It had a very strong lemony, orange peel smell to it, nice and refreshing. The taste is alo very citrusy but not overpowering and there are some good notes of spice (clove, pepper, corriander) that linger on the tongue. Nice and carbonated with a medium body. The beer has a nice aftertaste and is very drinkable. Perfect for the summertime.

Legacy- Midnight Wit

Appearance- Lemonade yellow, hazy with a thick soapy white head. Nice lacing about 1/3 the way down.
Smell- Lemon rind, spices, and orange.
Taste- Immediate peppery spice with clove and coriander. A mild lemon/ orange zest makes up the body of this beer.
Mouthfeel- Crisp but, unfortunately bland.

Overall- A very bland beer. This would be a chugger on the golf course, beach, or at a BBQ but otherwise there's very little flavor here!

Hazy yellow color with the slightest head to it. The aroma is of, well, beer. OK, so there is some wheat aroma to it as well, but not much else.
Taste is just north of average, with some spiciness, most notably coriander, with a little bit of citrus there as well.
As the label says, medium body to this one, but shading toward the light side, making it pretty drinkable, but not outstanding.

12oz bottle

App: Truly a white beer. Small, frothy white head that's rather disappointing and brings it down to a 4.

Smell: Cherries, wonderful fruity cherries. Undertones of malted wheat.

Taste: Greeted by a rush of carbonation. Next come a moment of fruitiness (citrus and maraschino cherry) that quickly fades into a crisp bitterness from extremely dry malted wheat and hops. Finishes clean but with a lingering bitterness that i find unappealing in wits.

A worthwhile take on the Belgian wheat style, with some sourish wheat and a blend of spices, making itd rinkable ad interesting, corriander being the noteable one. Aroma is farmhouse and cidery. Mouthfeel is on the thin side. Deep yellow colour with a small but observable white head.

Standard american-made wit, and that's a good thing. No over-powering flavors or funny tastes, just delicate and light on the palate with a touch of spice. Oddly, it has a juicy mouthfeel. That's not usually something I use to describe beer, but its sweet and light, but just right. About the same as Whirlwind Wit from Victory or White Rascal from Avery. Of the three, just buy the cheapest and freshest.

12 oz bottle poured into a pilsener glass.

Dark golden brew, hazy when yeast swirled and dumped into the glass. Small white head with some lacing.
Aroma is tangy and lemony with some spice present. Flavor is quite tart up front, a lemony tanginess from start to finish which is refreshing. The beer is not really light, though, a substantial mouthfeel. Coriander spice accents the tart wheatiness. A plus is that there is no grassiness often found in the style; the citrus tang is pleasant and will make thisvery refreshing with a juicy burger or frites and mayonnaise.

Single 12 oz. bottle poured into a pint glass.

A- Hazy pale golden/light tan color. Some carbonation bubbles, no head.

S- Smell was spicy and estery- pungent lemon in the nose.

T- Too sour for me. I love sour beers, but this one did not do it for me. Spicy/clovey/banana followed up by an awkward tart/sour lemony flavor.

M- Mouthfeel was light and smooth, not much going on in this department.

D- This beer was not the best, needs some work on the balance.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy light brown color with a small head. Smell is of sour lemons. Taste is tart, sour lemons and slightly bitter. Feels medium bodied in the mouth. This is not a beer I could have a session with, a bit to sour. Overall this makes for a mediocre offering.

S: spicy with some sour citrus, lemons and a slight peppery notes with some bananas and cloves rounding things out.

T: sour citrus, some spiciness, coriander with a yeasty bite along with a good breadiness to the palate.

M: creamy and spicy with a moderate amount of carbonation.

D: Decent drinkability but doesn't stand out in any one way.

Purchased at Market Cross Pub in Carlisle.

I have never heard of this beer or the brewing company. Funny thing is, it is in Reading, PA. Might have to check it out.

A- Pours a hazy/cloudy light yellow. Its def a witbier. No head and no lace hang around.

S- very yeasty in smell. Faint malts. i can also get a hint of some fruity esters, maybe grapefruit or lemon.

T- Has an IPAish flavor to it but it is also quite yeasty. Not bad but not extraordinary. I can also taste some sort of spices in the beer as well. I cant put my finger on it but i want to say clove or a chamomile. I dont think that is right.

M-full bodied and leaves some good aftertaste. I wasnt impressed with the way it went down but it was alright.

D- a nice relaxing beer once and awhile. Not bad and easy to put down. Worth a try but i dont know about a six pack or a case.

Appearence: Pours an exceptionally hazy golden yellow with a huge, frothy, creamy white head that sticks forever.

Smell: Spicy and yeasty, with strong wheat and citrus overtones. I'm actually picking up a tiny bit of farmhouse with this one.

Taste and Mouthfeel: Spicy and lively, this beer is very creamy, smooth and refreshing. Citrus and clove dominate the taste, with coriander playing slightly in the background. The only thing keeping it from getting a 5 is the yeast flavors are a bit off.

Drinkability and Overall: Delicious!! Legacy definitly killed it with this wit. Very authentic, dangerously drinkable, and superbly tasty. Definitly worth a try.

Pours a hazy pale straw with minimal head that dissipates quickly.

Spice, citrus and faint hops to the nose.

Taste of just above average for a wit. Refreshing with the citrus being a predominant note.

Mouthfeel is good, but could stand a bit more carbonation.

Easy drinking, nice summer brew.

Poured a deep straw hue with a one finger pillowy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell was heavy with too much wild yeast for my taste.

The taste featured a good wheaty and yeasty flavor. Mild spiciness and lemony finish existed as well.

The mouthfeel was chewy with a dry finish.

Overall a good wit. A bit harsh aroma wise, but certainly drinkable.

Poured light pale yellowish with some moderately bubbly head. Faint aromas of grassiness and hints of allspice. Very light in the mouth- almost like a seltzer, hardly any body. Mildly sweet flavors compliment the distinct earthiness of the brew. Went down very fast and easy- from my experience the Legacy brews tend to lean more towards ripe fruits, and estery flavors. Though this one does also, it fits the style well and is easily sessionable.

This is a typical Witbier to me honey lemon pepper coriander spices on top of a light wheat body. It had some banana attribute in the nose. It is creamy and full in the mouth, despite the airy light body. If this is the style you are looking then you found it. Workday beer for me. Straightforward, and not my favorite style to begin with, but Well done Legacy.

Hope this is helpful.

From a 12oz bottle, pours a strawish, off-yellow color that was hazy and cloudy... Smell is full of citrus and coriander and lots of spices... very appealing, but taste was dissapointing and a let-down and very thick... tastes somewhat like medicine and didn't do it for me at all, even after downing two beers, the taste was unattractive enough for me to not fully enjoy downing this one... had to force it somewhat... Being one of my favorite beer styles, this sample was definitely a let-down... good thing I only copped a single 12oz brew from Gary's Wine in Madison, because I would have been really pissed if I wasted my dough on a sixer of this one... Not recommended...

12oz bottle obtained via trade with hopdog. Thanks for the opportunity.

Poured into an imperial pint glass, formed a 1/4" bright white head over the lightly cloudy golden brew. Head is quickly down to an uneven layer of bubbles, with lots of dwelling lace. Aroma is wheat with light citrus tinge. Flavor is wheat and clove, with balancing citrus, fresh and clean. Mouthfeel is possibly a bit thin, which contributes to make it imminently drinkable. Pretty nice offering here.

Overall a nice, drinkable Belgian Wit with a citrusy, summer time flavor. A bready taste from the yeast rather than the spice clove/banana flavor you often get from a Wheat Yeast. It's an interesting flavor. Imagine the combination of lemon grass and bread. Not bitter at all. a nice drinkable beer if your OK with pronounced yeast flavor.

Contract brewed by Appalachian Brewing Co., Harrisburg, PA.

Fairly clear light straw color with a low white head and nice white haze after the swirl. Very nice coriander spice aroma with a hint of fruit underneath. Coriander dominates the style with a nice fruit and wheat balance. Medium bodied and smooth with an almost perfect balance of spice, fruit, and wheat.

Incredible suprise !

This poured with a thick, fluffy, white head, reminding me of marshmallow Fluf. The color was an extremely cloudy, honey-yellow color, almost like grapefruit juice. I noted a heavy presence of banana esters on the nose. The mouthfeel was full, thick, and creamy. I encountered lots of spiciness on the tongue, including clove and black pepper. The finish was very dry and refreshing, making it a good summer session beer candidate.

Cloudy body, sediment noticeable. Aroma of honey, coriander, pepper and wheat malt. Taste of sweet sugar, bread with coriander that causes a citric bitterness quality that is very subtle. Honey is very noticeable at the center until the finish. Overall, a dandy of a wit bier.
