I will take an entire palate of this all for myself. I cannot believe how fast I drank this beer and I think that chugging got started because of this style.

Gives an elegant and very soft pour with a cream colored head of cottony cloud like foam. grainy, a bit of earth form hops and a barely perceptible fruity ester from yeast. banana.

On the palate the malt is soft and graceful. Fully breaddy. As soon as you swallow there is a faint little tang. It accents the steadfast malt so well and brings all the flavor together in compliment with a subtlety that is no trick. It's simply an omission. Light sulfur. A touch of malt richness that shows the delicate complexity but does not bring it to you too powerfully. Restrained malt. As it lingers breaddy in the aftertaste you feel like you could drink the whole glass in one easy gulp. Crisp clean no diacetyl. This one is actually quite hoppy or quite fresh as compared to some. Hop herbal gives a wink at the finish and then as you drink and start to notice more flavor it's like soft yellow grasses. Almost hay. Dry, soft not bubbly. Bitterness that is understated at first but does last a little. That choice for carbonation really allows the malt to be expressive and expansive. Hop floral was always there and now it's time to laugh because this was beer not bread and an ale. A not too sweet flower petal.

It's as though you looked down and saw a golden flower. So you ate it and made it you feel hearty and then you laughed.

Despite having 4 months left on best before, this was flat, no head or lacing. Bland drink, I only wonder if the DR nk is better as German drinks are not typically this bad

Another Kölsch that I didn’t know existed. Vom fass at Sünner Im Walfisch. Delicious, of course. Sweet, malty, super drinkable. It’s all here. Top notch stuff. Went well with the food but great on its own.

Pours a clear straw with soapy head.

Smell is crackery with notes of knäckebröd, rye, wheat dough and some citrus.

Taste is crackery with a fruity, almost tart hint. Notes of knäckebröd, wheat dough, grapefruit and some hints of rye. Soft bitterness, very refreshing.

Mouthfeel is medium, a bit creamy and well carbonated.

Overall, a very nice, drinkable Kölsch.

On Lukr/side pull tap at Blackback Pub in Waterbury, VT.

This one pours a clear golden yellow color, with a small white head, and lots of lacing.

This smells crackery, with a touch of honey and wheat, some doughy malt, and light grassy hops.

I’m absolutely in love with the fact that Blackback had this on Lukr – it’s perfectly pulled, with a soft bready taste, light sweetness, and the lightest wisp of grassy hop character.

This is very light bodied, but creamy and so drinkable, with a nice spice on the back end.

This is fantastic, and I wish I could just have killed mugs of this one.

500mL bottle best by December of 2023

On the pour almost 2 fingers of white fine head were oresent that left sporadic lacing, then dissipated slowly to a 1cm covering of head on top of a slightly hazy yellow straw body.

Aroma is herbal, floral, and carries a soft crqckery pale malt behind the gentle Noble hops. Some light pear esters are present which add to the hop aromas.

Taste is similar to the aroma with the fruity notes still present then a slightly bitter herbal hop note. The pale delicate malts are present and crackery balancing throughout the evolution nicely.

Feel is crisp, smooth, and extremely easy drinking. There is a slight dryness that lends to the crispness. The finish of this beer is relatively long, but subtle at the same time. The malt sticks around for a while, but not in a syrupy way at all.

Overall, definitely the best kolsch ale I've had to date. Super crisp and smooth, with delicate hop aromas and flavor, as well as subtle, but pleasant yeast aromas. Very crisp and lager adjacent.

Pours light straw, some opacity, white head with decent retention.

Aroma is a mix of cracker, with some doughy like quality, light colored fruit skins, dried out grass.

Taste is light pale malt, some white grape skin, not much fruitiness just the bite on the finish, along with some grassiness.

Nice mouthfeel, light, effervescent without being overdone with just a touch of bittering hops, very crisp and dry.

Writing this as someone who skews Bavarian when talking german beers, this beer is quite lovely. Nothing particularly exciting in its aroma, yet incredibly clean, this is a refreshing brew. Arguably, it might be my favorite representation of the style so far. Certainly blows gaffel or reissdorf out of the water in my opinion.

Good looking beer on the pour. Two finger tight, white head that diminished into a ring. Taste of sweet malt, bread, pear, and a nice hoppy character. Finishes dry. Would definitely purchase again. Nice Kolsch from Germany. Best by 12/23 notched on the label.

Clear gold with a tall white foam head that retains well.

Crisp and sense-awakeningly bright, pear esters are accented by a minimal toastiness with a nondescriptly semi-bitter, semi-dry swallow.

It pours a fairly dark straw color, clear with a fluffy inch or so of pure white head.

The smell is mild. A little buttered toast, some earthy hops, a little herbaceous. It's ticking the right things, but pretty gently.

The flavor is more intense. Ever so slightly sweet biscuity toasty thankfully without the butter. Noble hops that are herbal, earthy, a little grassy. Eventually some spicy pepper lingers behind. A very slight salty mineral thing in the aftertaste.

Feel is actually on the thick side. Not really crisp, slightly dry. Decent bitter kick. But it's almost chewy feeling so it's not doing much in the refreshing department.

Overall, it does hit the marks for the style. There's not a ton of aroma, but the flavor is nice, decently balanced. The fail for me is the feel - not an epic fail, but a miss in my opinion. Decent beer, but I don't want another one.
