Pours completely clear and crisp gold color. Frothy white head dissipates steadily leaving behind no residual lacing and just some spots of foam on top of the beer.

Smell is very mild and subdued - whiffs of biscuit malts and some floral hops. Touch of honey like sweetness.

Taste has some cracker/biscuit malts with some slightly bitter grassy almost floral hops. There is a definite sweetness to the beer with some honey and green apple notes. Pretty dry finish. Some metallic notes are noted at various points. Keeps the score from being higher.

Feel is very light, crisp and incredibly drinkable. Mild to medium carbonation.

Overall this is a fine example of a kolsch - one of the originals.

Poured into a Kolsch glass from a 500ml bottle. Appearance is brilliantly clear golden, looks like a pilsner but with a bit more head, althoug it didn't last. Nice malt aroma, biscuts and bread, no hop aroma. Taste is malt forward, but exceptional ballance. I know there's some hops in here, but I couldn't tell you much about them. Not sweet or dry, just malty delicious. I really enjoyed this one

From Costco, part of the beer advent calendar. In Teku glass. After dinner. Very refreshing and drinkable. Some pleasant sweetness with fresh grassy hops.

Pouring the Kölsch, a nice foamy head bubbled up and then qyickly dispersed, which brought with it a light smell of malt and fruit. The foam disapated as quickly as the aroma. The flavor was malty, dry, and with a lingering grassy bitterness which reminded me of some of the grass/wildflower schnapps a friend brought from Germany to taste. This beer was much dryer, but very drinkable. Definitely a working man's beer.

Another pleasant Kolsch from another family brewery. How traditional !
This style is sessionable, particularly on a lazy Sunday as today. Good with a snack.
Looks like a lager, because it is lagered. Sunner's smells a bit faint, but the taste comes in maltier and quite soft.
MJ's 1999 "Guide" gave it 3 of 4 stars and called it "creamy, peachy, spicy."
I get the creamy and the hops are balanced. But, no peaches for me.
If you like the style and have not had Sunner's, try it.

I will take an entire palate of this all for myself. I cannot believe how fast I drank this beer and I think that chugging got started because of this style.

Gives an elegant and very soft pour with a cream colored head of cottony cloud like foam. grainy, a bit of earth form hops and a barely perceptible fruity ester from yeast. banana.

On the palate the malt is soft and graceful. Fully breaddy. As soon as you swallow there is a faint little tang. It accents the steadfast malt so well and brings all the flavor together in compliment with a subtlety that is no trick. It's simply an omission. Light sulfur. A touch of malt richness that shows the delicate complexity but does not bring it to you too powerfully. Restrained malt. As it lingers breaddy in the aftertaste you feel like you could drink the whole glass in one easy gulp. Crisp clean no diacetyl. This one is actually quite hoppy or quite fresh as compared to some. Hop herbal gives a wink at the finish and then as you drink and start to notice more flavor it's like soft yellow grasses. Almost hay. Dry, soft not bubbly. Bitterness that is understated at first but does last a little. That choice for carbonation really allows the malt to be expressive and expansive. Hop floral was always there and now it's time to laugh because this was beer not bread and an ale. A not too sweet flower petal.

It's as though you looked down and saw a golden flower. So you ate it and made it you feel hearty and then you laughed.
