Mac's may have been a bar with good microbrewery's but sadly today that is no longer the case.
All the victorian mircobreweries have been replaced with your standard macro's. (Stella, fosters, Carlton draught etc...)
The service is good. But the bar itself is very cramp. However there are seats outside which is much better then the dark smokey inside of the bar.
Food is good and cheap. Hard to fault $10 steak and chips. Just so upsetting that all the good victorian microbreweries are no longer availiable.
Just your standard pub.

this place has developed into one of my favorite places to get a beer. unfortunately it aint open on the weekends. if it was id be in there for the duration of it.
it doesnt brew its own beers, so for that reason i still like the portland on equal terms (its also open on the weekend), but this place still covers all the bases. firstly its got an old classic pub facade, looks really modern on the inside, and never gets packed out on any night, even tho it has a fair sized clientele. second the bar staff know how to look after you. third, they know what they talking about when you ask for a good beer.
they have the best selection of victorian micros going at any time. they have grand ridge, buckleys, mountain goat, holgates and steampacket happnin, in addition to coopers. then in the fridge they have more of the same, with english beers like marstons and newcastle to boot. never any shortage of good and different beers to choose from. they always have two micro beers going for a special price which is at least $2 less than youd get it anywhere else.
as far as food goes, you have to rate a place that will serve you duck tortellini with a creamy sauce with cashew nuts. apart from that they got something for everyone, pasta, stir fry, burgers, soups and a range of starters.
only started to get into this place recently, but from the first time i went there, i fell in love with the place. its got a real charm that cant be falsely manufactured. other good thing is they make awesome cocktails at a dirt cheap price. why is this good? means my g/f has something to do while im sampling the beers. highly recommended.
