From a 500 ml black can, abv listed as 8%. Pours out a clear straw hue, tall loose spongy head that slowly settles.

Sour, tart, dry cidery grains on the nose.

Dry tart cidery grains in the flavour too, it's official. Pretty one-dimensional that way.

Mouthfeel is light yet not watery, although the carbonation is low, fairly smooth for a high abv beer.

Well then, this is pretty much foreign malt liquor, same as we have here, yet to give it a bit of credit it's not too rough around the edges, although still not worth revisiting.

Can from the Beer Store, 500ml into a pint glass. Best before March 15, 2012.

Poured a clear, pale gold. Very pale and almost watery. Generates a finger or two of head, before fading to nothing. Light lace. Nose is sweet malts, light grain, mild alcoholic notes, apple juice. A weird candied note develops as this warms. Taste holds more malt, metallic and weird fruits notes at times. Finishes relatively dry and mildly alcoholic on the tongue, but burns when it hits the throat. Blegh. Effect is amplified as it warmed. Thin body, dry and a weird lingering aftertaste. Everything got worse as it warmed.

Pours a palid gold color with lots of big carbonation bubbles and a crackly flash in the pan head. The aroma is boozy and lightly malty. The taste is sweet and, as the nose betrayed, very boozy for 8%. Some cooked veggie notes and noticeable in the background. The mouthfeel is full and a bit numbing from the booze. The finish is sweetish and, alas, boozy.

Not a very good strong lager. There are many other beers of this strength and price that are more drinkable.

Appearance. Pale straw, really, really clear and bubbly with a finger of bubbly, albino-white head.

Smell. Fruity, spicy hops, light grain, slight floral perfume smell.

Taste. Sweet light grains, slight herby hops and a little yeast.

Mouthfeel. Bubbly and thin.

Overall. Not great, but drinkable.

Thanks to my buddy Mike for this little gem. Next time just keep the beer, kick me in the nuts, and we'll call it a day! :D

Haha, just kidding buddy. I always appreciate trying something new.

8% abv.

A: Clear, pale yellow; fizzy white head dissipates rather quickly (no retention or lace).

S: Mild aroma of toffee & bread with hints of floral & metallic hops. Some buttery-popcorn in the background.

T: Alcohol & butter are up front. Hop flavour is really metallic & slightly floral. Not much bitterness or sweetness. Weird. Make sure it's ICE COLD!

M: It's well attenuated for its strength, I suspect there's a good portion of adjuct sugar here. Moderate body is fairly dry. Moderate carbonation.

D: Best buzz for the buck?

Quite pale, clear, with a decently rich head that settled slowly into a thin white cap.

Sweet( glucose is one of the listed incredients), quite boozy, with a noticable graininess.

Noticeable alcohol taste right away. The phenols actually feel like spirit liquor @ the back of the throat. Some harsh graininess, a bit of sweetness whether it is from malts or the glucose I can't tell. A real bitterness lingers @ the back of the throat that is more Buckley's mixture than hop.

Sticky from the sweetness. Feel wise it isn't as bad as it tastes.

If ya wanna get drunk quick and don't feel like lugging a big glass bottle around then this beer is your friend.

Ditto on the import Malt Liquor comment from Iron Jeffro.

Now turned to Faxe Royal Strong, at 8%.
Pours pale golden, small half finger white head that pops away really fast, leaving just a bit of lace.
Smell of sweet malts, some apples, faint honey and some booze.
Taste of way too sweet malts, a spicy weird feel and big acidity (enhanced by the big carbonation), like a bad apple cider. Some floral notes, probably the only nice thing about this beer. Wet cardboard and metal in the finish, cloying sugar syrup.
Way too fizzy, but light bodied, rather easy to drink, so one should be wary of the high abv.
Pretty bad. No helping this one.

A strong lager but without identity or complexity. Tried it from a one liter can. It creates initially a gogg head but it disappears rapidly. Nose is weak with some hint of sweet malt and alcohol. Taste is straightforward sweet malt taste. No bitternes or complexity. Not a very recommendable beer unless the purpose is to get drunk fast.

A: pours a golden yellow with tiny bits of sediment floating around. Nice 2 1/2 finger bubbly head that reduces to a thin foam and leaves a bit of lacing. Almost no rising carbonation bubbles at all.

S: grassy hops up front with hints of cooked vegetables and a slight touch of brown sugar sweetness

T: not what I expected - floral hoppiness with definite tones of sweet ripe fruit and a subtle grassy finish. Decently complex, but I can also taste the alcohol in the background.

M: medium to heavy bodied but a tad watery. A subtle carbonation snap and goes down somewhat smoothly.

D: I was very disappointed with this brewery's premium lager. I think this one is a tad better but still I'm not too impressed. I was surprised by the floral hoppiness too it and the rich fruit flavours, but it is decently heavy and I think they could have done a better job of masking the alcohol. Nevertheless, it definitely delivers an easy buzz for your buck and would make a good catch-up beer. Bottom line: too watery and too sweet for my liking so I don't think I could handle any more than one of these at a time. So unless I have some major catching up to do, I don't think I will buy this one again.

A: 3/4" white head that dissipated quickly over straw coloured liquid with excellent clarity.

S: Pears, citrus, and yeast.

T: A metallic taste with some pine hops.

M: Thin viscosity with low carbonation.

O: Avoid this one. The high ABV does not redeem the taste or mouthfeel...

500ml can, one of a number of Euro malt liquor options from this Danish brewer available in my fair alcohol purveying jurisdiction.

This beer pours a clear, pale golden yellow colour, with more than a few fingers of puffy, rocky, and chunky off-white head, which leaves some sparse dark forest glen lace around the glass as it lazily recedes.

It smells of an acrid corny graininess, ephemeral bready pale malt notes, some befuddled yeastiness, stale apple juice, a strange indistinct spiciness, and fairly medicinal booze, almost akin to rubbing alcohol. The taste is some sweet pale malt and corn (oh, sorry, 'maize') graininess, more untethered and unhinged yeasty notes, not so friendly-seeming herbal and grassy hop bitters, and a hovering, and hardly benevolent metallic alcohol edginess.

The carbonation is moderate in its generally supportive frothiness, the body a slick-ass medium weight, and actually fairly smooth, with the usual banal caveats for such an offering, yeah? It finishes off-dry, as the booze makes a re-appearance, pulling us all down, down, and down.

For its actual strength, 'Royal Strong' is evidently, but not overly, hot (all relative things duly considered). Otherwise, it's mostly inoffensive, with lots and lots of sort of drinkable wowee juice, all for a very minor chunk of your hard-earned beer-imbibing dollar.

Very pale golden yellow with a loose head that disapates rather quickly.
I get alot of clover honey, maybe a bit of citrus and some herbal notes.
Same flavours in the taste, just a bit more pronounced. Somewhat sweet, but too much.
Light body and reasonable mouth feel. At 8% it is quite an easy drinker. For a tall cold can of beer I would take this over a big factory Lager anyday. Not a great beer but it has enough in it to make it OK.

After finding Faxe Premium to be rather drinkable, I decided to give the Strong a try (esp. now that my local liquor store has picked it up).

Nice pale gold colour, okay head. Smells too sweet, like corn syrup. "Glucose syrup, maize" on the ingredients would probably explain that.

Taste is similar to the Premium: malt, hop bitterness and corn mash. Now with extra alcohol bite!

Okay...but a bit overpowering. I might as well just buy the premium and save 15 cents.
