On tap. 9 abv 1/10/2020. Hop forward with less honey sweetness than in the past. Solid

12oz bottled 4/16/18 (38 days ago) poured into a Spiegelau IPA glass at fridge temp, no ABV listed on label. The beer pours bright orange amber in color with sticky light khaki head. The head recedes to an island and leaves behind plenty of lacing. The aroma is fairly strong but vague hoppiness and a touch of honey. The taste is semisweet caramel laced with honey and is cleverly balanced by a persistent citrus & earthy bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium bodied, lightly carbonated and mostly dry in the finish. There is some definite hop stickiness in the finish, but it's not cloying. Overall, very good. This is a beer in the same vein as Hopslam, but a little lighter and not quite a clear in it's hop profile.

Pours amber, almost orange. No head. Slight lacing and an arpeggio of micro bubbles.
Aroma is hops with some malt and grass in there. They're gearing me up for honey so I detect a sweet peach undercurrent. Not super citrus. Reminds me of Good 'n' Plenty.
Taste is sticky hops and syrup. Chewy malts, mellow, and dank. Consistency of honey if not the actual taste. It's a bit thick, grainy, bitter, blueberry, generally a very nice mouth. Sticky yet also clean -- not sure how they did that.
There's a bit of cloyness in the aftertaste and a metallic tinge like hard water. Simcoe hops are obvious, a boozy pine bitter sweetness is the takeaway.
The labelling is all about the honey, but it takes a backseat, more as texture than as taste.

Not a ton of aroma....sweet...some floral notes...a little booze
Flavor starts sweetish with a alcohol fuel like finish.
Nothing remarkable here. It's OK. For the style it is not one I would select.

Had on tap. Citra and simcoe bring the hot spice, and the honey with the golden malts, brings a buttery and biscuit backbone. Taste all together is the best feature. Is a little leaning into the lager territory, but very enjoyable.

i wanted a little more from the honey on this, and i think the issue is too heavy on the malt, there is lots of body, but also other sugars swirling around here, and it ends up being not as honey forward as it could be because of the caramelized crystal type malt, really kind of takes over some of the delicate nature of the honey. the same is true for the hops, it doesnt seem like citra at all, and frankly that may have been a poor choice for this brew, not all the way complimentary and not sturdy enough to hold up. all that said, this is a great idea and a really well made beer overall. the honey supports the hops nicely, and there is a fine balance there. its fully and big feeling, really hefty, and the booze shows through just enough to cut the sweetness sharply. very enjoyable glass, a little extra bitterness when it warms up, but good carbonation and a really intriguing honey element keep me stoked. the honey could be more robust, but this is a cool beer, not as different as it could be, but well worth picking up. thanks to my girlfriends parents for the hookup here!
