Appearance: poured a dark brown with a tint of burnt red.
Aroma: starts out with a hint of bourbon. It's not subtle but not excessive. You know it's there. Then the malty sweetness, kind of like some baked sweet bread.
Taste: the light bourbon comes up first. Then the malty sweetness comes through. Slightly bready with brown sugar. The mild bourbon persists till the finish with a slight bitterness.
Mouthfeel: medium-bodied and smooth.
Overall: love the bourbon in this beer. It's there but doesn't overpower. One of those beer where you could pour another.

12oz bottle (bottled on 05FEB16)
Cloudy chestnut brown body with virtually no head, just a slight tan clinging bubble ring leaving no lacing.
Aroma is bourbon and toast.
Flavors match with a sugar sweet burnt touch that wakes me out of my enjoyment.
Feel is lighter than expected, medium carbonation, but still creamy.

I may have Had a dozen of these over the last five years. It is one of my favorite American Browns.
It may be the subtle bourbon/vanilla/oak flavoring that sets this apart. It certainly is the sweet malt that has just enough hops to balance the ale so it is not cloying.

Pours a clear but dark brown color with khaki colored head. Roasted malts, oak, vanilla, some light whiskey notes, and a little caramel on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium to full bodied. Finishes with roast and caramel woody sweetness.

A: Dark chestnut with a light, golden tan head.

S: Lightly spicy, herbal hops with a touch of caramel malt.

T: Some caramel with whiskey overtones and faint vanilla. Long, bitter aftertaste.

F: Medium body with light carbonation, slightly dry.

O: Good, but not great, for a barrel aged beer. I prefer my barrel aged beer a little sweeter than this.

A - Pours a clear chestnut burgundy color with an ultra thing lacing band.

S - Caramel malt aroma with musty nuts.

T - Besides faint malt, I'm digging deep to get any flavor out of this.

M - Medium thin body.

O - Would not buy again. Over and out. (!!!!)

Had on tap at Pat’s Tap. L: Brilliant chestnut crowned by a ½” tan tinted cream colored foam collar. S: The aromas are not huge but contain traces of chocolate, caramel, bourbon and vanilla. T: Starts nutty sweet with dark sugars, a hint of vanilla and caramel then bourbon, drying with a bitter emphasis on the end. F: Fine soft carbonation, medium to medium full body. O: A flavorful bourbon barrel aged beer with a nice creamy body.

Pour: 12oz bottle into a nonic pint. Appearance: Dark brown with an off colored and thin head. Aroma: Malty and slightly oak-like. Bourbon makes an appearance as well. Flavor: Light oaky bourbon quality. Hints of malt. Aftertaste: Lingering bourbon and oak. very consistent. Overall: love the light bourbon and strong consistency of this beer. Very good: 4 out of 5.

Poured from the bottle as a transparent ruby with scant head. The aroma is not strong but is roasty sweet with the slightest hint of oak. The taste follows but with the addition of black coffee and then smooth unsweetened chocolate. The bourbon barrel aged character is subtle but comes out more as the beer warms but remains in perfect balance.

Overall, this is one of the best bb aged beers that I've had. The oak, vanilla and bourbon notes remain as components of the taste profile rather than dominating the taste.

Pretty standard for a brown. Maybe a little lighter in flavor than most. Light in carbonation. I would prefer a touch more, but similar to most browns.

12 oz bottle

Pours a brown-cola body with an inch off white head . Decent lacing

Smells of malt and nutty hops. Not very prominent

I taste malts but nothing really stands out.A very slight vanilla sweetness, and a very slight bitter aftertaste

Very slight prickly feel

Overall, Kind of average...
Nothing really stands out about this one. I'm not tasting any oak barreling. It's OK. My nephew sent me a bunch of these 3 months ago as part of an NFC championship wager. At the time I really liked em . now It's more like, "What was I thinking ? " This last one was sitting in my fridge waiting for me to review it. Perhaps it went bad?

Dark brown in color with plenty of light seeping through when held up to the light. A moderate amount of minute sediment is suspended within the body. A fingernail of off white to light beige foam covers the vast majority of the top. Light Brussels lacing. Aroma is of chocolate, hazelnut and dark malt. The flavor is muted than the nose would indicate. It is mostly dark malt and hazelnut. I do detect a hint of the sweet bourbon in the aftertaste. The mouth is dry and sticky.

12 oz stubby poured into rocks glass. Mostly clear brown body with red highlights and a tan head. Some retention and a bit of patchy lace. Barrel notes of bourbon and vanilla, roasty and caramel malts, a touch of chocolate. Taste is bready with caramel and roasted nuts, some vanilla and cocoa powder. A good balance between these sweet and bitter components. Medium body, moderate carbonation, creamy texture, bitter oak and roast finish.

12oz bottle dated 12/22/2014. Served in a snifter 2/18/2015.

A-Cola brown body, half finger offwhite head with average retention, spots of lacing.

S- Toffee, caramel, a bit of vanilla. Sweet brown ale base is present, mild smoky bourbon aromas. Some cereal graininess.

F- Mild bourbon flavours, a bit of oak, small amount of vanilla. Mostly toffee, a bit of coffee, plenty of caramel sweetness. It's a sweet beer, but the bourbon helps cut it a bit. The finish is a bit off with a non-descript astringency that isn't quite attributable to the bourbon.

M- Medium-thin bodied, OK carbonation, a bit sticky. Finish is cereal grains and that astringency, perhaps the combination of the cereal and the bourbon.

O- It's alright. A bit different than the other stuff on the market, but really nothing exceptional.

Murky brown with a nice foamy head. Nice nutty malt smell with just a hint of the barrel smell. Taste is normal malty nutty with a hop finish. I catch on to the vanilla which blends well with the bourbon. I am not a fan of this style, but I like this combination. This company keeps surprising me. The finish is extremely smooth. Do I detect cinnamon?

this is better than its ratings. people should know, that according to the label only a portion of this beer was actually aged in bourbon barrels, then blended in, so its intentionally subtle, and i for one like and respect that approach to this. its got all the vanilla and bourbon character you could want in the finish, but it doesnt dominate the whole experience. it lets all the chocolate malt and a hint of coconut come out. lighter in color than expected, it is indeed a brown, not anything darker, and the roast profile is moderate at best. i like its lightness though, and think it shows another side of the bourbon barrel thing, which is the complimentary flavors of the spirit and the chocolate malt. its so often lost to the oak itself or the heavy roast or the alcohol content, and i think this beer does a nice job with all elements together. a little more body would be alright by my, but the carbonation is nice and the finish is appropriately long and mellow. its a little something different, and i like that.

Very accessible bba beer, no boozy heat because its only 6% abv. Easy to find and inexpensive in WI. I like this beer, but its not nearly as big as i hoped it would be. Then again I can drink more than just one of these in a night.

Pours with 1-2 fingers of head, and an auburn/brown color.
Taste has a bit of coconut, not much bourbon here.
Goes down smooth and easy, not what i expected but I like it.

Not really brown this pours a more auburn like color. The nose is a light divide between barrel and brown. I catch some barley malt, chocolate malt, creamy coconut, vanilla and brownie batter. The flavor is light and the feel a bit thin but it tastes quite good. Coconut is prominent with chocolate malts, brownie, light vanilla, butterscotch and an oak wood. Not a bad choice when looking for a cheaper barrel aged beer.

Pours a clear brown. 1/4 inch head of an off-white. Good retention and great lacing. Smells of sweet malt, hops, hint of roasted malt, hint of biscuit, hint of pine, and a hint of alcohol. Mouth feel is smooth and clean with an average carbonation. Fits the style of an American Brown Ale. Tastes of sweet malt, slight caramel malt, hops, hint of pine, hint of alcohol, hint of liquor, and a hint of wood. Overall, decent appearance, good aroma, good blend, and good complexity.

The beer is a beautiful mahogany hue with tinged of russet and ruby. Small beige head. Aromas include oak, bourbon, wet wood, vanilla. Light sweetness with a gentle bourbon character and vanilla. Perhaps toasted almond cookies with a splash of chocolate and brown sugar. Thin body with fairly low carbonation. Lots of flavor packed into a <6% abv brew. Tasty.

A nice ruby red color with a bit of a cream colored head that quickly reduces down.

Smell starts out a little on the sweet side, then gets a bit boozy, likely from the bourbon. Also a bit of dried fruit and vanilla.

Starts out with a bit of fruit and some nutty notes. The booze notes then kick in, the bourbon is fairly noticeable in this one. Finishes with some lingering hop bitterness.

Feel is ok, the bourbon does add a bit of warming as you sip it.

Not a world beater as far as a bourbon aged beer goes, as it is lacking the complexity of the best ones. Still, there is a decent amount of flavor, and it goes down very easy. This is my first offering from this brewery, and not a bad first try.

Deep bronze color. Some clarity. Off white head recedes to a thin film. A few lace patches.

Hint of roasted almond and toffee in the nose. No bourbon to be found.

Toasty, buttery biscuits with almond spread. Caramel and maple. Just a hint of oak. Little hop character.

Smooth feel and study medium body. Well carbonated.

Descent brown ale. Not the most complex I have had but still pretty tasty. Would pair well with caramel-pecan French toast.

Appearance is a dark and cloudy brown and poured a very thin head.

Smells of bourbon, chocolate, and dark fruits.

The taste of bourbon is very faint, very noticeable that only a portion was aged in BB. Malts, nuts, and chocolate are very prevalent.

Mouthfeel is very smooth, a very enjoyable brown ale.

Overall this is a tasty brew; however, consumers looking to satisfy their bourbon craving will be disappointed with this selection.

Pours a slightly reddish brown with about 1/2 inch head, nice lacing. Smell is a muted caramel with hints of vanilla and just the slightest bourbon. Taste is very Scottish ale like, not much bourbon at all (which I like). Overall I really enjoy this beer, it is smooth with subtle flavors that make it immensely drinkable.

Pours clear brown with a one finger beige head, with good retention and lacing. The aroma is light with some nuttiness and caramel.

I can taste the Bourbon a little, which I did not pick up in the aroma. There is also some nuttiness, caramel, and earthy malt. Has a little bit of sweetness, and a little bit of bitterness. Tastes somewhat generic.

Medium bodied with light carbonation. There is an earthy malt aftertaste, with a hint of Bourbon. Not bad, but nothing special either.
