The beer pours out looking like a strong sweet tea, with a fast-fading off white head.

On the nose, getting mostly sweet caramel or toffee that covers up the maltiness to an extent.

Similar in the taste. Finding this quite sweet, but warming for a 7.5% beer where I can easily pick out the alcohol. hefty bitterness keeps this beer in check, in my opinion. The assertive bitterness offsets the sweetness.

The feel is thick, bordering on syrupy. A little highly carbonated, possibly, for the style.

Overall, it is a decent brew that manages to tick the style reasonably well. A comfortable warmer, but not a gotta have beer.

A dark brown pour, with a fading head and light lacing. The beer has a nice aroma of roasted malts, smokiness and just ahint of the hop. Tastes like it should - warming with the moderate ABV and light carbonation, just enough to keep the "wee" in wee-heavy. Good balance and a touch past the brown ale style. We don't do a lot from Tyrenna, but this is enjoyable on a cold Januarty night.

Bottle. Quite malty aroma. Color is brown like strong tea with an off white head that quickly dissipates. Nice malty flavor. Full bodied. Overall, a fine example of a Scotch Ale!

I found this at the Binny's store in Bloomingdale, IL and made it part of my mix any six beers for $9.99, making this single 12oz brown bottle $1.67.

The beer poured a clear caramel color and produced a ½-finger of white head that didn't last very long and left very little lacing.

Big caramel smell with toffee, roasted malts, and a bit of earthy peat smell.

Mostly malty and sweet like a Scotch ale should be, but this one also has some fruitiness to it and quite a bit of bitterness.

A bit on the thick side, almost syrupy with moderate to medium carbonation.

Not a typical scotch ale but still good.

Lots to like in this beer I've Had often. But, I'm not sure about two things: its consistency; its carbonation could cut the style's malt too much.

Sweet and malty. Mild roasted character. Smooth and rich throughout. Well carbonated. Finishes woody and nutty. Subtle earthy hop. Well balanced for the style
