No Date code,m but from the November 2009 batch. Taken from the cellar, and poured into a Two Brothers Pint Glass...
A - Big tan head from a hard pour, with good retention and no lacing. Mildly translucent dark brown body with dark amber highlights.
S - Warming toastiness and spices (nutmeg?) blend excellently with the fantastic grainy and spicy rye notes to highlight a soft chocolate and roasted coffee aroma. Mild apricot-like hop presence in the nose, but it only highlights the big, wonderful malt aroma.
T - This beer starts spicy.... and ends spicy. Big rye bread graininess and spiciness. Great job with the whiskey barrel aging; perfect amount of burn to feel assertive, but not overwhelming or hot. The whiskey adds a prickly quality to the rye spiciness that most other rye beers do not quite achieve. A soft, semi-sweet chocolate flavor rounds out all these rye flavors, like liquid Mole. The mild hops contribute mild apricot notes and a drying finish.
M - Soft, creamy body with less viscosity than expected. Mild carbonation that really suited the flavor and creaminess of the beer.
D - The only thing I would ever even think about changing about this beer would be to beef up the body. And that's just what I think could suit it, but this beer had everything else possible working for it. Fantastic job with the rye, fantastic job with the barrel aging, just a great example of brewing. Easily the best Tyanena beer I have had to date.

pours reddish-brown, almost ruby. tan head. lots of lace.
definitely lots of chocolate in the nose and mouth here. oak follows in the nose, but i don't get it much in the taste. caramel and a bit of spice from the rye.
viscous and thick mouth. creamy.
mighty fine beer. this one sat for a year on the shelves and doesn't show any wear for it. kind of surprising this one made it that long, because i'd want this around all fall.
