Darkest of dark brown that captures black and thick with no light getting thru. A soft yielding cocoa tanned foam lifts to about a finger high before fading to a feathery skim and a few blotches of stringy lacing sticking to the glass.

Aroma is nicely soft with lots of complexing subtlety that wraps itself mostly around a dry oatmeal sense and roastyness with nice hints to cocoa, coffee, cinnamon, and sweet roasted almonds.

Flavors are toned well and share the same complexing subtlties that that aroma does. Here in the taste though, the roastyness rules over the dry oaty stuff as its dry and choppy with roasted grains, burnt coffee bits, some light cocoa and a small residual sweet sense way in the back that lends some breadyness, vanilla, and dates.

Feel and structure is a sturdy medium body with a lofty, alluring soft dryness and roastyness thats coated in the back with more of a milky tone.

A very solid brew and drinkably solid too. Tyranena does not disappoint with this new addition to their line up.

Unknown vintage; drank 4/30/15 @ the Yarchives.

Brown appearance. Tan head; a curtain of lace.

Peanut butter & cream nose.

Medium thick mouthfeel.

Peanut butter & mild pumpkin flavors up front; a metallic, chalky finish. Booze notes emerged as this warmed.

Hopefully this one went bad? Tough to finish.

Got in a trade with GreenBayBA. 12 ounce bottle into pint glass, no bottle dating. Pours crystal clear nearly opaque dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with fantastic retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Nice dense soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a fair amount of streaming carbonation. Fantastic appearance. Aromas of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Nice and pleasant aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast notes; with solid strength. Taste of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, and dark/brown bread; with lighter notes of molasses, licorice, dark fruit, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness. Light-moderate herbal, floral, grassy, peppery hop; and roast/char bitterness on the finish. Lingering notes of milk/dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, caramel, brown sugar, toasted oats, dark/brown bread, smoke, char, herbal, floral, grass, pepper, and yeast/roast/toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; with a great hop/roast bitter/sweet balance, and no acrid/astringent flavors after finish. Light-moderate increasing dryness from lingering hop/char bitterness. Medium carbonation and body; with a very smooth, creamy/bready/grainy, and fairly sticky/chalky mouthfeel that is great. Minimal warming alcohol for 6.3%. Overall this is a delicious oatmeal stout. All around nice complexity, robustness, and balance of dark/roast/bready malts, cocoa nibs, light-moderate earthy hops, and light fruity yeast flavors; very smooth and easy to drink with the modestly bitter/drying finish. Nicely rich malt complexity, balancing earthy hops, and restrained yeast character. A very enjoyable offering, and spot on style example.

This beer smells like a Hershey's chocolate bar and tastes like a bit darker, more like bitter chocolate chip, mixed with a delicious maltiness that pricks the tongue devilishly. There is also a wholesome oatmeal flavor and consistency that makes this wash down like a filling dessert.

Tyranena is one of my favorite local breweries. This is one of the seasonal stouts they brew that I enjoy to drink. The aroma of chocolate is more than the flavor of chocolate, which is fine by me. It tastes and feels like a well bodied stout. A well rounded beer to enjoy with some music.

Looks the part--jet black and a thick light tan head. Nose is nice and roasty, rich chocolate. Flavor is dry roast malt, coffee-like character, nice under current of cocoa. Body is medium-full, nice dry/bitter finish. Very solid chocolate oatmeal stout. Really like the dry/roasty finish and very glad I've got 5 left!
