Like New Glarus, Tyranena was another Wisoconsin brewer which got my interest after sampling some of their creations during meet and greet gathering of Southern California beer geeks circa 2008. I never thought that I would live within driving distance of either brewer, but I did so both in one day. Here's Tyranena...
Tyranena opens at later hours early in the week and takes a large industrial complex with an added stone exterior, biergarten, and large spacious taproom with fresh paint on the walls, a taproom which slowly fills with repeat and "mug club" customers as the sun settles away. Lightly lit, if that makes sense, with highlights of bright light illuminating signage, portraits, and glass cabinets. The friendly bartender will get you settled in with salty snacks as you drink your beer. And the beer...
Blends the year-rounds with seasonals with Brewers Gone Wild!, all of which are set at very reasonable prices to this longtime, former Orange County resident. Everything from Three Beaches and Lake Millionaire, to Munich Lager and Painted Ladies, ending with Tapping the Sugarbush and Pink Fruited Sour. I appreciated what they did with their glassware arsenal; you can expect wide tulips, proper pub pints, Bavarian mugs, along with tasters, and half-pours are offered as well.
Tyranena's thing is to make good beer and serve it in a good taproom without an over the top beer village. That's perfectly fine. A decade's wait on my part is finally over.

An awsome outdoor facility. Great on site parking. Several options with many one offs. Very comfortable bar. No giftshop. Awesone, old dog. Worth the visit.

I really dig this little spot in lake mills. The brewers gone wild series is absolutely thriving these days and I have nothing but positive things to say about it. Rob is getting creative again with barrels and doing some great adjunct beers as well. Nice place to grab a beer; the regulars are small town folks that are really friendly. They have no food, but you can bring food in just "no outside beverages" as the sign says in the bar and on the walkway to the entrance. It gets packed pretty easily when its the busy times like stopping by after work for a beer is a really busy time to go to Tyranena.

The tap room is small but provides a cozy warm atmosphere. During the warm months, the outdoor patio adjacent to the tap room is a nice relaxing spot to enjoy some beer. Only Tyranena beer is on tap from my experience. Always all of their year-round brews, a seasonal or two, and typically 1 or more of their brewer's gone wild beers of which many are barrel aged. The prices are very reasonable and the staff is always friendly. The tap room does not have food available but it is pet friendly. Live music most weekend evenings with no cover.

Love this place. It is clean, laid back and just flat out makes you feel comfortable. Quality is high - beer is fresh, glassware is clean and appropriate. The service is attentive without being overbearing. Pretzels and mustard is available at no charge - if you're hungary you can bring your own food in, use the grill out back or eat from a local food truck. Well worth the stop if you're on your way from MKE to Madison or vice versa.
