Appearance - Very light yellow. Crystal clear and bubbly. Tall white foamy head. Quickly dissipates.

Smell - Light pale malt. Not unlike a macrolager.

Taste - Very light. Sweet pale malt and water. Hint of hoppy sourness in the finish.

Mouthfeel - Light and crisp.

Overall - An ale version of a diet beer? Not sure I needed that.

This was part of a huge haul that I picked up at Binny's (South Loop) during my latest visit to the Windy City. I am always looking to expand The CANQuest (TM), but this one hits a little close to home. Many is the blonde who has told me to "Drop Dead!" If they meant this in terms of looks, they should have used a gun moll blonde from the cover of some old noir/pulp fiction.

The Crack was kind of unobtrusive so to enliven things, I utilized an inverted Glug. This resulted in a foamy finger of bone-white head with modest retention. Color was a sunshine yellow with NE-quality clarity and loads of CO2 bubbles in evidence. Nose had a characteristic lager sweetness, seemingly devoid of corn or other unwanted adjuncts, but something still smelled a little off. Mouthfeel was medium and it really was pretty tasty, slightly sweet, definitely lager and without any adjuncts discernible. Finish was semi-dry and very refreshing. This would make a great lawnmower beer. I guess that I am kind of like Dos Equis' Most Interesting Man in that I do not usually drink light lagers, but when I do, this is the sort of thing that I enjoy. Stay CANned, my friends.

Color is pale and smell is what you'd expect from a blonde, cereal malt with a bit of a bite. Flavor is mildly sweet with a distinctive but not overpowering hop aftertaste. Medium to light bodied. I'm not sure why this is labeled as a "light lager" when it tastes more like a blonde ale, with a much better body and flavor than anything typically labeled "light." This is a good hot weather beer.

Pours out to a thin white head and light gold-yellow color. No lacing. Aroma is light malts and floral/spicy hops. Flavor does more of the same with a crisp, dry grainy finish. Mouthfeel is light for style. Overall a pretty decent brew.

Super pale super clear yellow and fizzy. Little head. Nothing on the nose but grain. Goes down like an amstel light, pretty close to tasting like seltzer water. Touch of grain prickly carbonation and not a single hop flavor that I can detect. There are far better low calorie beers out there that probably have even less calories than this but actually have some flavor. I'd go as fast as saying miller lite has more flavor than this one. Just bland and unenjoyable. If i'm gonna cut calories why would I was it on this $9 six as opposed to the thousands of 6$ ones that tastes just the same if not possibly better.

Enjoyed from the 12 oz bottle in a pint glass. This blonde pours a clear yellow straw color with a light head that dissipates to a thin pool of foam and a moderate layer. Nose of light grains and very light sweet malts. Flavors follow the nose with light notes of grains followed, a light sweet malt note, and a lightly sour grain aftertaste. Good mouth feel with solid carbonation is a saver in this brew. A standard light beer with a bit more character than most of the bigger mass produced brews out there. Would be nice on ice and a barbecue....then onto the imperial stouts!

A thanks goes out to woodychandler for this beer. Poured from a 12 oz. can. Has a light golden color with a small head. Smell is of malts, some grains. Taste is mild, malts and grains, a touch of sweetness. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a mediocre beer.

12 oz twist-off bottle poured into a pilsner glass.
3.5% ABV, "Refreshing ale with 110 calories."

A - Hello gorgeous! Drop Dead Blonde pours a slender, crystal clear pale straw yellow body topped by loose white locks of foam; sexy...for a moment. The effervescent head fades pretty quickly, and with it, the aroma. No lace left on the glass.

S - A beauty to look at, but boy does this blonde smell. Laden with sulfur, the loose head vanishes far too quickly to grab much more without a hearty swirl, but some floral, noble-like hop notes evaporate into the air briefly, followed by traces of honey sweetness, grainy pale malt, and a touch of corn.

T - Surprisingly hoppier than expected, Drop Dead Blonde has a noteworthy noble hop floral character that encases simple, dry pale malt graininess and a kiss of honey for a rather tasty light beer.

M - Very lager-like, this crisp, refreshing ale has carbonation bite to the finish that dries the palate out nicely while allowing some hop bitterness to linger on the tongue.

O - Drop Dead Blonde is labeled an ale, twice, but sure comes off lager-like! Crisp and clean, Drop Dead Blonde is crisp and refreshing light ale that drinks like a lager and quenches thirst with a nice floral hop profile. She's not a beer you'd want to put a ring on but flirt with this one on a hot day and it'll cool you off promptly.

I picked up a bottle of Point's Drop Dead Blonde a couple weeks ago for $1.79 at Boyne Country Provisions. I was looking for a few easy drinking beers and I thought I would take a chance on this one, so lets see how it goes. No visible bottling date. Poured from a brown 12oz bottle into a imperial pint glass.

A- The label is nice, it goes with the name and it's a little eye catching. It poured a slightly hazy pale yellow color that took on more of a golden hue when held to the light with a fingers worth of bubbly white head that died down to a thin ring that stayed till the end and it left a little bit of patchy lacing behind. This is a pretty nice looking beer, I have no complaints.

S- The aroma starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the some fruity yeast being the first to show up and it imparts a little bit of an apple cider like aroma with a little bit of doughy aroma coming through in the background. Up next comes the malts which impart a grainy. pale malt. sweet malt and bready aromas. This beer has a decent aroma, but it's pretty close to being average for the style.

T- The taste seems to be similar to the aroma and it starts off with a medium amount of sweetness with the malts being the first to show up this time and they impart the same aspects that they did in the aroma with no single malty aspect seeming to stick out the most. Up next comes that fruity yeast with just a slight doughy aspect coming through. On the finish there's no hops or bitterness with a little bit of sweet malts taking it's place and it had a grainy and fruity yeast like aftertaste. This was an Ok tasting beer that was very average for the style.

M- Smooth, pretty crisp, a little clean, on the thicker side of being light bodied with a higher amount of medium carbonation. The mouthfeel is nice and it works well with this beer.

Overall I thought this beer was just ok and I thought it was very average for the style, it didn't have anything that made it stick out and while it was still pretty true to style it seemed like almost every aspect was mediocre. This beer had ok drinkability, one is enough for me, it goes down smooth, but the flavor doesn't hold my attention. What I like the most about this beer is the appearance and mouthfeel, they were both nice and the highlights of this beer. What I liked the least about this beer was how bland it was, it needed just a little bit of hops to balance out the malts and yeast. I wouldn't buy this beer again, it's pretty easy to find a better Blonde Ale and I would recommend it. All in all this beer wasn't that great and it left me wanting a little more from it. IT's one of my least favorite Point beers and I would say it's just slightly below average. better luck next time guys, this one could use some work.
