Double Chocolate Stout pours a black color, with a medium sized, long lasting head. Malty and boozy aroma, with small hints of very sweet chocolate; lots of black licorice notes, with a boozy warm finish. A bit of a light body. Overall, not bad, easy drinking big stout.

Nothing wrong with this but I wanted to like it more.

L-Dark brown....tan light lacing..

S-Sweet, sugary chocolate...

T:Sweet chocolate is big up front...also light notes of black licorice and java

F-Full bodied....a little sticky sweet...almost a doppelbock like feel...or perhaps a Baltic Porter feel.

O-Glad I bought a four pack of this but that will be it for me. Good, solid beer but lacks special qualities I'd expect in the Imperial Stout category. As a basic beefed up chocolate stout it is solid. As an Imperial stout it lacks..

On-tap at Three Cellars, Franklin, WI:

Pours black with a thin white head. Some lacing sticks.

The smell is of chocolate, slight roast, a touch of anise and some alcohol.

The taste of chocolate is certainly there. It could be richer, but it works to give it a strong chocolate character. A touch of anise and mild roast balance the sweetness in the finish. A touch of alcohol warmth comes through.

It hits full-bodied, but could be creamier and and a bit thicker for an imperial stout.

Overall, it's a good choice for a warming, chocolate-forward, yet reasonably balanced, sweet-leaning brew!

Poured from a 12oz. bottle I got while on vacation from the Four Firkins in Minnesota.

A - Pours kinda thin, with a 1/2 finger of brown head. No lacing left behind as I sip...

S - The smell is of a decent oatmeal stout. A little smokes, with a sharp bitterness of dark chocolate.

T/M - The taste is better than I expected. Creamy and smooth mouthfeel. Notes of chocolate, a little dark fruit and some unsweetened coffee. Nice lingering roasted malt aftertaste.

O - A very good, easy to drinking Double Chocolate Oatmeat Stout without almsot no hint of alcohol. I would buy this one again if it was available in the Las Vegas area.
