330 ml bottle, 2012 vintage, bottle #5089. Served in a Dogfish Head snifter, the beer pours dark brown/black with about a quarter inch tan head. Head retention and lacing is decent, and there's an OK amount of lacing. Aroma is light but nice, the brew smells like roasted malt, bittersweet chocolate, and some dark fruit. The taste is similar to the aroma, but with the addition of a bit of licorice and coffee. Mouthfeel/body is medium, seems to me it's thin for an Imperial Stout. It's worth a try once, but I wouldn't buy this again at $5.49 a bottle. Not a bad beer, but I think you could do better for the price.

Enjoyed from a 12 oz bottle, this Russian Imperial Stout pours a dark blackish brown with a slim
tan head that dissipates to nice pooling foam and moderate lacing. Light in color for a RIP.
Nose of black licorice, chocolate, moderately roasted grains, dark fruits of plum and cherry,
and some coffee. Flavor is chocolate to the sides, coffee and dark fruit on the back, and a light
licorice aftertaste with coffee and chocolate bitterness. Smooth mouth feel, silky smooth at
that. A nice Russian Imperial. Amazed that the look does not match the taste. Alcoholic
warmth brings up the rear nicely.
Will buy again.

Near black color where no light passes. Big bubbled initial head that disappears completely leaving no lace whatsoever.

Creamy chocolate notes to the nose. Some black cherry.

Semi-sweet chocolate up front. Very smooth, thick rich body with a lower level of carbonation. Aftertaste is a bitter combination of burnt malts and hops. As far as the style, this scores firmly in the mild side. There's no potent alcohol in flavor (or smell). It also doesn't have the in-your-face burnt biscuit one would expect. Still, this a flavorful, if not slightly sweet, stout.

330ml, 2014 vintage, bottle # 1502, 10% alcohol listed.

It's not sludgy oil-black, more like black coffee-dark brown, if that makes sense. Head is on the lighter-colored side as well, a shade somewhere between white and beige.

Quite a big dark fruit/almost red wine vibe from the scent, alongside coffee with cream, light chocolate and roast.

Taste is a slight improvement, still heavy on the dark fruits and quite a bit of licorice there too. Definitely on the sweet side with chocolate, caramel, some coffee presence but very little roast.

Feel is on the watery side for an imperial stout, but really I don't mind it too much, works well the flavors presented. Carbonation is low-end and the alcohol is pretty well-hidden.

Probably considered lackluster in the wide world of Russian Imperial Stouts, I personally liked the non-thick dark fruit/licorice-centric feel of it, not the greatest but a nice changeup.
