As a beer AND bourbon lover, this was the very best of both worlds, with a nice bourbon nose, sweet malty middle (almost barley wine-ish), and nice bourbon and oak finish with only a briefly lingering glow after you swallow it. Amazing!

I prefer this to either the 012 or 011 all of which were recently available (at least in Oregon) at Costco at a very good price. the bourbon is forefront, but in a pleasant "sippin" fashion. another year and this could be a wonderful winter treat. on the other hand Winter 014-015 is nearly upon us.

O: Still has some aging to do, but loads better than fresh.

Poured into a 16 oz snifter, bottled August 2013. Pours red with a two inch off white that leaves some nice lace behind.

Smell is caramel, vanilla, brown sugar, pine, bourbon, dark fruit, and oak.

Taste is really subtle oak and bourbon, not over the top. The way I like barrel aged beers. Vanilla, oak, and caramel are most dominant.

Body is medium, plenty of life, a touch dry, and damn if it isn't drinkable.

Overall this really surprised me. I wasn't sure how Brrr was going to taste aged in bourbon barrels, well it worked very well.
