Pours a nice brown with ruby hints when held to the light. A quarter inch of head, doesn't stick around for long. The beer is smooth and balanced between malt and alcohol, but doesn't have the corresponding hop aroma or flavor. A bit of bitterness from the hops, but mostly sweet malt and a bit of warming alcohol. A good example of the style, without being an exceptional one.

12oz can PKGD ON AUG 08 22 poured into a tulip glass at fridge temp 7.2% ABV. The beer pours bright copper colored amber with khaki colored head. The head recedes to a thin ring and island leaving behind some spots of lacing. The aroma is mild with sweet caramel malt and pine. The taste is bittersweet toasted malt with spicy, piney notes. Mild bitterness. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with average carbonation and a mostly dry finish. Overall, good.

12oz can poured into a pint

A- pours a clear deep amber color with a one-finger foamy white head that has great retention and leaves some lacing behind

S- smells of caramel malts, toasted bread, citrus and piney hops, a hint of dark fruits

T- hop forward up front with citrus peel and resinous pine leading the way. Mid-palate gives some caramel malty notes. The finish gives more pine and citrus peel that continue into the linger

M- medium body with moderate carbonation leads to a foamy mouthfeel that continues into a slightly creamy finish

O- well balanced and super drinkable

Pours red. Thin foam. Soapy aroma. Kind of bland. Loaded with hops but they dont come through like they should. Thick and slightly bitter. Could use some malt character. I expects better from my reds.

6 pack of 12 ounce bottles.
I tried this tasty beer a few years ago. Scrappy notes. Date unknown.
Looks crimson and brown with a pretty good sized light tan head and has a really fragrant hoppy smell. I taste caramel malts and bold hops but not much "spice" considering it's a winter warmer. The hops are kind of zesty and I catch a taste of strong black tea which makes it a little bit bitter. Pretty smooth though, a little bit sweet and easy to drink and has a very good taste. Excellent!

12oz can

Pours a finger of just off white head into my teardrop glass. Retention is average, maybe a little below. Initial lacing looks pretty nice. Body is a lovely dark red, with hues of orange when held to light. Pretty looking beer so far.

Some nice rich malts up front, almost candi sugar like. Faint notes of bread, caramel, some hoppy pine, maybe some stone fruit. Sweet but inviting. Hard to reeeeally pull out individual aromas, but it smells very nice.

Flavor is a little more direct, noticeably less malty and sweet, instead a little more bitterness shines through. A touch a caramel, not as much bread coming though which is unfortunate. Not as much flavor all together to be honest. This is one of those beer that sessions really nice and the nose does a lot of work, but when you put it in a glass and really break it down there isn’t a lot going on. I’m going to be generous because I know how good this tastes out of the can as a casual drinker.

Carbonation is medium, maybe a little above that. Has a good body to it, not thick but sturdy. Sugars are quite well balanced all things considered. I wouldn’t have been upset with the sugar level that was presented on the nose, but if we’re talking balance, the flavor has more of it. Bitterness certainly helps that balance, and it creates a lively festive feel on the tongue, aided by the carbonation. Impressive mouthfeel.

Aforementioned, this drinks really well. Balanced and not too heavy.

Appearance turned out lovely. Thick sheets of lacing all the way down the glass. Head retention wasn’t amazing, but in this smaller glass I can only get a small head to begin with.

As this warms the nose and flavor start to open up a bit and get more character. This makes me feel more confident in some of these big scores I’m giving. Really nice beer that drinks dangerously easy and goes down fast.

Nice dark amber with foamy beige head., decent lacing. Aroma of malt and mulling spices, taste is also spicy, nutmeg, coriander, cinnamon, mild lingering tartness/spiciness on the palate. Slight alcohol warmth.

Because this beer is self-described as a “Hoppy Red”, I would say that it is a little lacking in the hops flavor, but the hops blend very well with the malty redness, giving it a solid back-end, making it very drinkable out of a can.
