12 oz bottle into a pint glass.

A: Pours a...I'm not going to say it, I'm not going to say it, I'm not going to say it...a blonde color. DANGIT! The head isn't even a finger high, and has a white shade. Retention isn't good. Tiny specks of lacing are left on the glass.

S: That textbook Citra stank is there in full force. I'm picking up little to no malt backbone. As a way to show off Citra and nothing more, it does a respectable job - still, I wish there was a bit less stank and a bit more tropical fruit notes. Damnit, I wish this was fresh, then again I only have myself to blame for leaving it in the fridge for a damn month.

T: The general flavor is pretty light. A touch of melon to start, and some crackery malt that intertwines with the hop notes on its finish. It's dead simple, but it gets the job done.

M: Light, dry, light, dry, light, dry, light, and oh yeah, dry, too. The carbonation is intense, almost overly so. Still, it's stupidly easy to drink, and also refreshing.

O: There's room for improvement - the Citra hops could be shown off better, and it could also use less of a carbonic bite - but it's nice enough in its current state. Give me a six pack and 100 degree weather, and I'd probably think of this in a much better light. It certainly beats BMC, that's for damn sure (wait...)

A- straw yellow, small head that clings to the glass and carbonation

smell: The citra hops are the star of this beer- some grassy notes

Taste: The bitterness of the citrus hops is perfectly balanced with malty sweetness. This hop has a high alpha bitterness and this beer is very balanced.

m: light bodied medium carbonation

Overall: for a profile of a great hop this beer showcases it extremely well. Great session beer and I believe it is underrated based on the brewery,,,no need to be pretentious

Pours clear yellow with a pretty big white head that left some sticky lacing and stuck around for a while.

Aroma and flavor are somewhat citra-y, not overpoweringly so, but the hop is certainly noticeable. There's a lightly grainy backbone and a touch of sweet citrus.

Body is light and lawn-mower-y. Carbonation is light and could be a touch higher, but ain't bad.

Overall it's pretty refreshing and fits the description of a blonde ale pretty well.

Once more, my thanks go out to my local, in-person trader, tone77. There are just so many beers available now that I would probably gloss over a large portion of them, but he keeps me grounded.

From the bottle: "Citra hops lend their name, aroma and striking citrus flavor to the soft malt notes of this uniquely refreshing golden ale."; "It's a perfect pairing that's perfectly refreshing from the first sip to the last. Prost! to summer [undersigned] Kent [? &] Rob".

My anxious pour netted me just over two fingers of dense, bone-white head with very good retention. Color was a slightly-hazy sunshine yellow (SRM = 4) and I found myself wishing for the return of warmer weather. I just attended my 30-year high school reunion last night and by the end, my feet and right knee caused me to have to sit down. Today, the arthritis in my hands is kicking it. Warmth would be good right about now. The foam fell as I typed, leaving beautiful lacing in its wake. I plan on running the dishwasher later today so it all works out. The jackhammer can remain in the basement as a result. Nose was citrusy, evocative of tangerines or mandarin oranges. Mouthfeel was light, not thin per se, but not big, either. Upon tasting it, I definitely stand behind tangerines in terms of taste. A nice breakfast beer, although I have already eaten breakfast. Finish was semi-dry and this would make an excellent lawnmower beer during the summertime.

Poured into DFH signature glass; clear bright yellow-orange with lots of bubbles and a moderate fizzy white head that falls quickly into a ring of foam with lively carbonation peeking through.
Smells lightly of dank herbal hops, with lesser notes of tropical fruit and citrus, as well as some grassy scents and light, slightly metallic clear malt.
Taste is wide-open and clean; extremely light clear malt gives way to...nothing. This is probably an old bottle, but there's just no hop flavor here. There's a slightly leafy crispness, and perhaps the ancient ghost of what may have been some sort of fruit at one point, but that's it.
Mouthfeel is thin and fizzy, finishes crisp.
Overall, this is probably a lot better fresh. Citra doesn't seem to hold up very well under too many months on the shelf, but if you could find this fresh, it'd probably be one hell of a tasty session beer.

Poured from a brown 12 oz. bottle. Has a cloudy yellowish color with a 1/2 inch head. Smell is surprisingly hoppy, some citrus notes as well. Taste is well balanced hops and malts, a bit minty, some citrus, very easy drinking. Feels medium bodied in the mouth and overall is a refreshing summer brew.

Picked up a single in mid-August from Total Wine for $1.79. Bottled on 3-14-13...whoops this is a tad bit outdated...

Beer poured golden with a nice white head upon the initial pour.

Nose is citrusy and tropical.

Taste is grainy malts finishing with a nice citrus and tropical taste. No hop bitterness in the follow thru.

Mouthfeel is light with decent carbonation.

Overall this is a tasty little brew. If you want a summer session brew with some flavor this would be a good one to go with.

Pours with a foamy white head that leaves a great web of lacing on the glass; aroma is pungent, skunky hop goodness. Not sure if I get citrus from citra; the scent seems more musk to me; I can see why people say "cat-pee", but it's a smell that is appealing with the hop connotation. The citrus comes in the flavor; tangerine rind, grapefruit pith. The malt backbone seems weak and small, a little water cracker and some white rice. Mouthfeel not quite light lager but still very thin. Carbonation has strong bite, also comparable to light lager levels. An interesting and sessionable beer at only 4.4%, very much a great summer brew.

A - Bright clear yellow with just a 1/4 of head that sounds like it will fizz out quickly but makes quite a hefty lace ring.
S - Well it does smell clean and hoppy which is exceptional for a blonde ale. Mild grains and sweeter malts balance.
T - Mild lemon bite and an almost carbonated water like hop flavor so muted its not as great.
M - Bubbly easy drinking and crisp summer ale.

Overall most blonde ales are pretty similar. Light, muted flavors, and somewhat sweet so to style it's really quite good.

Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. bottle: bright and clear golden color with a quickly dissipating head. The appearance is a step above most blonde ales I have tried.

Without a doubt, one of most attractive features of this ale; of course, any ale that highlights the Citra hop will receive high marks. Refreshing and zesty tropical fruit aroma explodes from the bottle, though not quite like Zombie Dust.

This is a light beer and the flavor profile proves this. The flavor is rather muted, but the bittersweet hop profile is enjoyable. There is a hint of lemon along with some pleasant citrusy flavor with a mellow malt aftertaste.

The body is very light with a noticeably thin body that does grow on you after a couple of bottles. The bittersweet, citrusy hop flavor is very short-lived. The carbonation is not extreme which is a plus.

This blonde ale at only 4.3 ABV is rather refreshing and holds its own in flavor. For a very warm, late August day, it did just fine.

12oz bottle from a six pack. Poured into a Widmer tulip glass...

A: Pale gold, with a white head of foam; no lace, although there is some light retention.

S: Citrus peel; light bread crust notes.

T: Orange citrus flavor; light biscuit / slightly bready taste; pretty simple and straightforward - but nice for a 4.3% brew.

M: Light-medium body; moderate carbonation; what you'd expect.

O: A nice citra summer brew; not something I'd probably drink a lot of, even with the low abv; could stand to be a touch drier.

Poured from bottle into a pint glass

Appearance – The brew pours a nice crystal clear golden amber color with a billowy 1.5 finger white head. The head fades over a moderate amount of time to leave a decent level of streaky lace on the sides of the glass.

Smell – The aroma is grainy and bready with hints of a grassy hop smell. Along with these aromas are some light citrus and floral notes.

Taste – The taste begins with a smoother malt and biscuit taste. As the taste advances it gains more and more graininess with some flavors of a light lemon and grassy hop coming to the tongue. By the end the grassiness gets quite a bit stronger and is joined by a bit of a haylike flavor to leave a crisp bready flavor on the tongue.

Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is quite thin and crisp with a carbonation level that is rather average. Both are quite appropriate for the more grainy and grassy flavors of the brew and make it quite refreshing.

Overall – It is a rather refreshing brew overall but nothing all that out of the ordinary. A good go to for a more session style on a nice warm day.

A - bright, golden orange with a short cap of soft, white head that fades quickly

S - grapefruit, orange peel

T - grapefruit, orange peel, peach, tangerine, faint grassy bitterness

M - light bodied, well carbonated

This is a really nice summer beer. The fruit flavors that come through are pretty intricate for such a small beer. This also has a great deal of drinkability and it's really refreshing. This probably won't please most of the hardcore beer drinkers, but if I'm going to be out in the heat, I would definitely enjoy several of these.

Golden yellow straw colored ale. Fantastic clarity. Moderate head retention. Great carbonation bubbles. Eggshell white foam. Great citra hop nose . A bit of lemon on the nose, but mainly those lovely citra hops are very inviting. Very light, smooth mouthfeel is extremely refreshing. This is AA very refreshing summer ale but I would have enjoyed abut more go flavor. Of course it would have then been an IPA.

Served from the bottle into a nonic glass

A- Poured a light and very clear yellow with big soapy white head that left chunky lace. Some visible carbonation

S- Some pineapple, citrus, brewer's yeast, and mineral notes. Fairly light aroma

T- Big pineapple,, mango, and orange citrus notes. Some brewe's yeast and watery mineral character.

M- Very light, soft carbonation, it really does drink just like water. Not much in the way of body at all, but there probably isn't supposed to be.

O- This beer succeeds as a refreshing and sessionable ale with rally nice citra hop character. If that is what you are looking for give it a shot. It is pretty refreshing, but it is basically hoppy water. It serves its purpose as a nice and simple summer ale.

Poured from a bottle into a shaker pint, the beer is a bright, vibrant, crystal clear, straw-yellow coloring with a frothy, white ring around the surface. Lots of carbonation action in the body. Aromas of roasted and grassy hops, dry and peat-like, with a toasted grain backbone. Very aromatic and balanced. Flavors of roasted grains and toasted bread, with a honey sweet highlight. Light, subtle, resiny hops presence that adds piney and floral notes at the end of the palate. The body is light, almost watery at times, with a slight effervescent feel from the carbonation. Grassy and sweet aftertaste, with a clean, crisp finish. Very drinkable, very light...perfect for warmer weather.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass. Dude you bought the blonde ale, sheesh... but it is Citra.. so let's see here.

Pretty decent looking brew, with a fluffy three finger bleach white head. and some good staying power. Settles to a simple thin puck and collar. Body is a nice brass yellow with lemon and faint brown edges. Slow rising carbonation.

Nose is odd. Grainy. Very light and dry and powdery. Faint hop angle of powdery lemon. Slightly adjunct like smelling also.

Palate is just a bit jarring and unpleasant. Extremely chalky tasking beer. White chalk and dryness, with virtually no malt presence at all. Hop angle seems to be completely non existent. Chalky and thin mouthfeel with a very grainy steely like aftertaste.

Overall, just another blonde I don't care for.

Appearance- Pours up a fair amount of head which looks as if it will have little retention at all. It certainly won't survive describing the appearance. The head is pure cotton white while the body is a hazy golden straw which glows with hints of orange when held up to the light. Only tiny spots of lacing left behind.

Nose- Pretty much what you should expect from a beer with this name and these hops. Citrus, citrus, citrus. Grapefruit seems to be most dominant aspect (with a nice note of mustiness) followed by orange and then some weak lemon. Faint hints of armpit or dirty sock that compliment the citrus very well. Slight grain notes on the nose as well.

Taste- Lemon is the first note that I get when I taste this beer, followed by some grain notes and then a mild grapefruit bitterness. Ever so light notes of pine and resin on the finish. The lemon is kind of weak tasting and lacks the complexity that the citrus notes of the nose have. There is also a mineral or chalky aspect on the finish that I seem to always get from Widmer's beers. It's not bad but I don't think I've ever had a Widmer beer without it. Some hints of other fruit- a little white grape, some berry. Fairly true to the style but that mineral taste that would usually attributed to Saaz hops cannot be. It is certainly not strong, herbal, or earthy enough to be from noble hops. A little thin tasting. Pretty average to slightly above average beer.

Mouthfeel- A little more than light bodied with faint syrupy characteristics. Carbonation is just right.

Drinkability- This goes down like a tastier version of water. Would be very good introduction for a BMC drinker. Not exactly crisp but goes down very easy.

Overall- Pretty average but would drink it if I were offered it.

Appearance: slightly cloudy, gold color with white head

Smell: delicious, smells like citrusy but not in an overpowering way. If this beer tastes as good as it smells, it will be fantastic.

Taste: citrus with a hoppy bitterness. Very unique.

Mouthfeel: more carbonated than I would prefer not still makes for easy drinkability

Overall: this is a fantastic beer. It is the quintessential summer beer. It is citrusy and refreshing without being too sweet. This is a very well balanced beer. I can't think of a better beer to enjoy on a warm summer evening.

Appearance: Light amber with a decent head and moderate lacing.

Smell: Sweet malts and citrus.

Taste: Citrus and malt.

Mouthfeel: Light, crisp, and refreshing. No bitter aftertaste to speak of, despite the citra hops.

The Verdict: Damn good. If there were more bitterness I would call it an IPA. This could become one of my favorite summer brews.

A great beer for a warm summer day...I love the Citra hops. I'm not a huge fan of the Widmer Brothers brewery, however their use of citra hops caught my eye. This beer has a nice color for a Blonde. I plan on adding this to my list of summer beers. Its easy to drink and has plenty of flavor.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar.

I'm more of a Citra brunette kind o' guy... Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises spicy greens, light sweet biscuit, light grapefruit zest, and a few drops of honey. The taste holds notes of mild and funky grapefruit zest, biscuit, and some mixed greens all up in the finish and whatnot. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a sorta/kinda drying finish. Overall, an okay little blonde, nothing close to spectacular, but something drinkable enough for a lazy afternoon.

This beer came in a bottle and was poured out into a pint glass. It had a light amber colour to it and smelled of citrus hops and grapefruit. In line to the way this beer smelled, it also had a grapefruit presence in its flavour, along with flavours of wheat and hops. Seemed light bodied; it would be a great summer beer.

Would I buy this beer again? Maybe.

12oz bottle into Summit pint glass

Look is a clear golden orange, small white head, smells of grassy hops but with an unpleasant rubbery scent. Crisp medium-light feel with lightly peppery lemongrass hops dancing over dusty grain and syrupy malt.

OK summer brew that smells a little funky and doesn't really stand out from others on the market. Maybe this was a bad bottle, however I still ended up enjoying it.

From the 12 fl. oz. bottle marked 1206-NH-JUL0312. Sampled on December 8, 2012.

The color is pale yellow with a kind of olive hue with little to no head and whatever head it starts with quickly dissipates.

The aroma is pleasant enough with a clean sweetness and vaguely hopped background along with a hint of grapefruit.

The body is very much what I would expect for the style with a light to medium feel.

At first the taste is on the sweet side but it slowly evolves into a clean, crisp hop flavor but not much lingers at the end. Still, it would be refreshing on a hot summer day.
