Crystal clear brass. White head with poor retention. Aroma is mostly clove, cinnamon, honey, and toast – the more I smell it the more it reminds me of Cinnamon Toast Crunch. This is no bad thing, no bad thing at all. Tastes soft and sweet like honeyed bread, but with a pleasantly dry finish. The spices aren't 'spicy,' if that makes sense, but they are pleasantly aromatic – especially cinnamon and clove, wedded neatly to a pinch of leafy hops. I can imagine this would be a lovely winter warmer. In fact, I almost want to drink it hot. Almost. This is, essentially, a pleasant and balanced ESB with just enough spice to make it more interesting than most.

According to the brewery: Bragging Rights is a lightly golden pale ale. The addition of honey, followed by a blend of nutmeg, coriander, black pepper, cloves, cinnamon and ginger, create a refreshing beer that is initially sweet yet spicy at the same time.

Let's see if I agree.

Hand-pulled half-pint in 'Chequers' Oxford on 23rd Nov 13 during a mega pub crawl.

Poured a golden orange with a slight haze, on top a white coating of bubbles.

The nose was a blend of toffee apple and ginger nut biscuits.

The taste had a semi-sweet malty, fruity start, mild ginger notes along with other spice flavours arrived mid-mouthful. Not sure I picked up any honey, but as I said, it was fairly sweet initially and that sweetness should have been enhanced by the addition of honey in the brew.

OK rather than great: different for sure and I enjoyed it.

Copper coloured body, no matter what I do, I cannot get any head out of this.
Smells like peppery spicy pear drops
Tastes a bit like cold mulled cider
Easy drinking mf
Okay beer

Have had this one twice now, once on cask from a pub in Southwark, and picked up a bottle at Whole Foods.

It has a very pleasant aroma, sweet and a little spicy. The taste follows the smell, with a nice malty sweetness at first, followed by some spices. Ginger and Pepper maybe? Smooth mouthfeel. Very solid offering, will be picking up more.
