Tried a third pint at the Great British Beer Festival, per suggestion on CAMRA website.

Nose is malty sweet, slightly sour, with notes of oak (vanilla I suppose), fruity, and slightly buttery. Smells good.

Pours a clear dark straw with mild head. Looks pretty good.

Tart fruity hops provide a soft touch of floralness over the creamy, savory malt. Soft nut and more biscuit. Some clear caramel. Some ester adds nice complexity. Mild bitterness. Medium-moderately full body. Really nice balance. Good bitter touch to finish.

Serious balance and wonderful drinkability. Quite nice.

Pint taken at the Brewery Visitor Centre in Wainfleet on 4th Sep 2010. This beer was formally called '4 point 2' and what the abreviation means 'Good Honest Ale', which is the Batemans logo from years ago.

Pours a lovely golden straw colour with a small but complete white head.

The East Coast Goldings and Challenger hops give the beer a fine spicey hop aroma and add bitterness into the taste which become more pronounced as the mouth dries. Mild citrus feel to the initial sips, before the hops take over.

Well balanced and pleasnt to drink, pity more people on BA can't try it.
