Slight skunky smell but typical of what you'd expect from Heineken. Definitely better than the 56 overall rating though....tastes like slightly watered down Heineken. Typical light beer but good on a warm day playing golf.

A: Crystal clear yellow with a tint of brown to it, darker than the other light lagers Ive rated lately, large white head, little bit of spotty lacing down the glass

S: Slight skunkyness

T: I get the bitterness of some hops up front, then a little of that skunkyness, clean dry finish

M: Watery but its a light

O: Not outstanding but one of the better light beers that I have had

Someone left a whole case of this swill on my back porch. One day I ran out of beer, I say beer cause Heineken light is NOT beer, anyway I ran out of real beer & had to drink one of these. I can not believe Heineken sells this junk. This is the worst beer I ever had, tastes like water with a 3. Abv? I compare this to boxed wine, it's horrible. No hope at all, no flavor at all, you might as well drink carbonated water because Heineken light is only carbonated water has no flavor no alcohol completely and absolutely the worst beer I ever drank in my life!!

Funny story about this one. My wife and I were summer vacationing in Delaware. I'm a craft beer drinker she is not. Being that it was scorching hot, she wanted to buy a 12 pack of Heineken for the week because it was cheap. I reluctantly agreed. She went inside the store and mistakenly bought Heineken Light. (She must have been in a rush) When we got back home we noticed this and drove back to the liquor store to exchange it. The bad news was that in Delaware it is state law that all alcohol purchases are non refundable/exchangeable.Long story short, we got stuck with Heineken Light all week. What else to say about this beer? It is watery and devoid of flavor. Never again!

Experienced in : US
Appealing to me : being a "light" beer
Less appealing to me : not so smooth taste for me

I am neutral on this beer.

Pours to a thin white head with minimal lacing. color is pale golden. Aroma is light grains and grassy hops. Flavor is a weak grain and hop concoction that finishes clean. Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Not bad for a light beer.

Found a stray bottle at a friend's house before going out last night.

Looks watery, yellow-ish clear, and bubbly.

Smells like absolutely nothing. Really.

The overriding taste here is kind of this skunky smokiness that can't be intended. It's weird, slightly off-putting, but not actually all that bad. It does get old exceedingly quickly, but luckily, this is so light, it goes down really fast.

It's light, and crisp, and goes down really easily.

This does suck quite a bit, but not as badly as I'd thought it would.

Poured into a shaker pint glass.

Look: Crystal clear light golden body with a white fuzzy head that recedes to nothing but a white ring. Light spots of lacing.

Aroma: Smells heavily of straw, sweet grains, slightly metallic.

Taste: Sour cabbage notes up front, followed by a very metallic body with some sweetness.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium weight, slightly dry.

Overall: Not as skunky as Heineken, not as watery as the low ABV suggests. Beer ingredients are masked by metallic notes.

This is a quality light lager. while AAL light lagers are very cheap and not really good, (Coors Light is the only one I'll drink) This one is just spectacular. I can smell hops. The taste is really hoppy too, and light. Not really light on flavor, as it still has plenty of hoppy flavor and a hint of malt. Don't know why this is rated so bad. This honestly i have had 5 with barbecue chicken, and i am not really drunk or full. 3.3% ABV makes this perfect for me. Perfect session beer. The reason i liked coors was the fact it was low in alcohol and didnt fill me up. this does the same thing while retaining a good amount of flavor. Would drink this a lot.

Poured from a 12 OZ bottle into a pint glass. Aroma- had a distinct skunky smell with a hint of hops, already a major turn-off for me. Appearance- yelowish colored with slight carbonated bubbles with a small white head that did not linger. Taste- Pure skunk mixed with a very watery slight bitterness. terrible bordering on bland. Palate- a medium feel with very little zip and very forgettable Overall- A true disappointment. I have had Heineken’s in several continents and I have been pleased, this light beer variant was god-awful

12 oz. bottle with some sort of bottling code on the bottle. Aquire a single bottle of this stuff from my neighbors. Expectations aren't great, but for some reason I seem to enjoy this stuff.

Poured into a miniature Victorian carriage adorned pint glass.

A - It pours a pale, mostly clear straw yellow. About a finger of quickly dissipating white foam.

S - The smell is of sweetened corn / grains & huskiness.

T - Taste is the same. Sweetened grains / corn and huskiness. Nothing to brag about but it goes down quick and easy.

M - The feel is crisp, light, and clean. Easy drinking.

Overall, what it lacks in flavor it makes up for in drinkability. Not harsh, astringent, or offensive. And with a low 3.30% abv, this one makes a solid choice in the realm of shitty light lagers.

Heineken Light ---3/5.

12 oz can.

Pour is light amber; excellent clarity; Good head and decent lacing; coarse carbonation.

Aroma: light sweet malts and spicy hops in good balance.

Flavor: very mild, with only a faint hop bitterness in the finish and aftertaste.

Feel: very light bodied but about as expected given the style and carbonation level.

O: light ... very light, but not otherwise flawed and not bad with a meal. Note, bottled Heineken in the US is oftem spoiled so can are recommended.

Thick head that sticks around pretty well. After dissipating it leaves behind no real lacing. Clear pale yellow body with light carbonation.

Hops. The hop aroma is surprisingly pronounced. It smells like Cascade hops. Super faint malt smell is also there if you search for it.

Hops. Water. A little bit of malt. Very clean. Heineken Light has a stronger hop presence than regular Heineken. Regular Heineken has a pronounced malt flavor with a very mild dry bitter hop finish. Heineken Light is watery and very light on the malt flavor. To compensate it tastes like they actually upped the hops in Heineken Light, and the hop profile is different. The hops in Heineken Light are more floral in character. They are not very bitter. Tastes like Cascade hops. The finish is not as dry. This is a very watery beer with a surprisingly pleasant mild floral hop character.

Very light and watery.

For the style this beer is very good. It is watery, but what do you expect for 99 calories and 3.2% alcohol? This is a light style lager. If you want a stout or IPA then drink that instead. If you want a low abv light lager then this is pretty nice. I could drink this all day when fishing out in the hot sun. If you can get past the wateriness it is a good beer.

Sampled tonight on 3/30/14 while doing some grillin' and chillin' on the upper patio deck. Don't recall ever drinking one of these, though had the regular Heineken many times over the years.

Pours pale yellow in color with a 1-finger frizzy white head that didn't last long. Some light spotty lacing was seen with each sip, but not much. Lots of bubbles rising from the bottom and sides of the glass due to the above average carbonation. The aroma is close to their regular Heineken, which is slightly 'skunky' as is like most brews in green bottles. (Right Mario Esposito?) , which is of grains with a hint of sweet corn. Not much else. The taste like just like a watered-down Heineken but actually not as heavily-bodied as a regular Heiny.

Pours clear pale yellow with a small white head.
Smell is malty with no skunk.
Taste suggests a regular Heineken. Watered down somewhat. Malty some yeast and a hint of hop bitterness.
Mouthfeel is medium slightly dry finish.
Overall an alright light beer. Something to cleans the palette.
Heineken Light new formula
Similar to the Premium Light. Added Cascade hops. Looks good, tastes good, Not too sure this is better than the original. Some minor but better hop aspect.

Pours a crystal clear pale yellow color with a smallish bone white head that shows little retention. Light sweet bready malty pilsner aroma with a whole lot of skunk. The flavor is a light bready grainy maltiness with a hint of hop bitterness and again a bit of mercaptan. Light body with a spritzy level of carbonation and a slick watery mouthfeel. I can't get away from the skunky aroma to find much to like about this beer, probably a poor example to be a classic style imho.

I actually like this better than regular Heineken. its cleaner, fresher tasting, more carbonated, and less filling. no metallic or adjuncts really either, just better. still crap though, sudsy white head on yellow liquid. smell of fresh pils malts and generic lager yeast. watery and soft, but not devoid of flavor. malt forward, balancing hops only, a good slammer beer, golf beer, boat beer etc, but with very little redeeming qualities outside of these contexts. good bubbles, refreshing when freezing, and affordable enough. it has a role, and its better than the other light beers, especially the imports. I can get behind this a little bit, also seems to be handled better than the regular, which eliminated the skunky odor and taste I associate with the parent beer here.

edit: i retract some of that, had a few of these this week on vacation and really did encounter the same skunky stale thing here that i always get in regular heineken, and its just such a turn off. i know both of these beers are decent when fresh and handled correctly, but man, when they turn its not pretty!

Pours a small fizzy head with low retention that recedes to leaves just a bit of lacing. Beer is a very pale golden straw color and extremely clear. Smells of bread, straw, a little grassy, with a bit of fruitiness as well.

Taste is similar to other light lagers but does have a bit of fruitiness that helps it stand out, also has a hint of earthiness. Mouthfeel is very light with high carbonation, what you would expect.

A: Pours a light straw color with a fair head that fades with no real lacing.

S: Aroma is fairly mild with a bit of citrus, malt sweetness and grain.

T: Taste of just a bit of citrus with some malt sweetness. Mild bitterness and a clean finish.

F: Light body, smooth and short on flavor.

O: A decent non-offensive light beer.

Pours a clear yellow color with a finger width carbonated head. Head retention is mild. Lacing is good. Aroma of corn and grains. Just like any adjunct lager. Taste of corn and grain. Not much in sweetness. Very watery. Light bodied with moderate to high carbonation. Drinkable but not by much.

I feel like James Bond every time I pop the cap off, but wheres all the women? I'm drinking the same beer he did just like in the movie!!!

Light bodied beer. Tastes like a pilsner that is less bitter than average. I thought it was pretty good with a pleasing light carbonated taste. Not too much complex flavor, but that is how these beers are; has somewhat unusual aftertaste. Be sure to get a 12 pack so the light doesn't skunk the beer...

Into a pint glass, the beer is maybe a shade or two darker than most light beers. The small head recedes quickly and leaves no foam. Smell is pretty limited to alcohol and a little bit of flowers. Tastes like watered down Heineken, but at least still has that distinctive taste to it.

Not bad for a light beer, has some flavor to it actually. If I was forced to drink a light beer I'd probably go with this one.

Now here's a typical Free Beer From Work - though I find this to be better than most of its light lager brethren.

A 12oz green bottle is poured to a tulip-esque official Crawdaddies glass. Color is dark yellow with a pillow of white head which slowly dissipates to nothing. Lots of carbonation bubbles visible.

Smell is pretty much pure cereal grain and light malts with a hint of papery skunk. Not too bad, decent strength, smells like something at least.

Taste brings the same cereal+slight skunk with some added lemon crispness, bread and pale malt. Really not too much to offend the senses, for a light beer some decent flavor.

Light but substantial mouthfeel with a good amount of foamy carbonation.

Decent amount of flavor considering this is actually lighter/has less alcohol than most light beers even - if you gotta go light this may be one of the better choices.

Served in a pint glass.

Appearance: Pure yellow gold, light bubbles on the body....head a natural white rising about 1/4".

Smell: Has a sour aroma or hops...light, not sure if you really want to inhale this.

Taste: Light bitterness not to mention light hops, watery and too bland. I know it's light but it lacks flavor.

Mouth: medium, no stickiness.

Overall: Drank this because it was offered to me at my best friend's house or I wouldn't have ordered it. Not a fan of light beers and very few have caught my attention. This definitely isn't one of them. Salud.

12oz green bottle into an Italian style pilsner glass.

A- Bright and clean yellowy-gold color, 1+ finger head, no lacing. Lots and lots of big bubbles.

S- It has the Heineken standard issue dirty cat box skunkiness. Very, very unpleasant.

T- It tasted to me like nothing more than wet undecooked white bread.

M- A bit light and crisp, nothing really. It's just so hard to get past the nose.

O- This was my only choice at a friend's house today. Otherwise, I may never have drank this beer. I did not finish the entire serving but it was easy to read.
