I try and find something I like about every beer. This one was hard to do that.

Appearance: pours 1” foamy head that dissipates slowly and leaves significant lacing. Color is reddish brown. Mild carbonation bubbles.
Aroma: yeasty bread dough (like when a lump of dough has been left to rise), fruity hop aroma is mild but noticeable
Mouthfeel: watery and slightly sticky. Finish is very dry and somewhat astringent.
Flavor: the rye malt is clearly evident and provides a less sweet flavor than barley malt (at least in this brew. I have not tried other rye beers, so I do not know if this is normal). The rye has a bite that combines with a citrus peel hop flavor. Taste profile includes raisins. I would enjoy this more if the bitterness were better balanced with more malt sweetness.
Overall: Werewolf is good (not great) and is a decent addition to the rotating seasonal lineup from Newcastle.

Oooooh, this be a bitter red ale, folks. It reminds me of Old Speckled Hen...and for those of you who enjoy the bitterness, more power to you. I brought this on tap at work for the Fall season. The name sold it as did the fact it was a child of the Newcastle Family. But not all Nukes are created equal. Through the "Bartending Grapevine" I have heard this most recent batch did not sell as well as the last. All heresay, sure, but unless my Beer Geeks beg me to bring it back at our pub, I'm not doin' it.

12 oz. bottle, no bottled on date present. Acquired a single bottle of this stuff as part of a mixed six pack.
Poured into a Duvel tulip snifter.
A - Pours a dark semi-clear garnet reddish brown body. Slow rising streams of carb. One finger of frothy thin off-white head. Some okay fluffy scattered lacing. Looks okay for what it is.
S - Dusty malts. Notes of toast & brown bread. Cheap & toasty, slightly skunky.
T - Flavor follows the nose: bready, toasty, nutty, malty. Cheap, stale, dusty chocolate malts. Would much prefer the original to this. Poor depth & duration of flavor. Maybe some indistinct fruitiness?
M - Feel is smooth & thin. Watery & light; easy-drinking.
Overall, bland and uninteresting. Would prefer the original to this.
Newcastle Werewolf -----3/5.

Big off white head eventually settles into a nice lacing above a clear reddish amber colored beer.
Sweet light caramel malts and some sort of Wylers fruit drink aroma.
Sweet, sweet caramel malts dominate with some light fruit juice taste coming through, not really sure if its grape or what but its there.
A dry almost puckering dry fruitish aftertaste on this medium light to medium bodied werewolf.
Seems to be a light washed out Chimay tasting drink, I really don't think I could drink a lot of these, well unless your buying.

Ah, Fall. Time for Halloween-themed seasonal beers. I had not seen this one before and decided to try it out, as I am a fan of the Lupine horror films. Well, that and it was on sale.
Served in a chilled tulip glass.
-Appearance 4.0: Poured out an amber color, not "Blood Red" as advertised. Very nice 1/2 inch head that stuck around as creamy swirls on top and the sides.
-Smell 4.0: Interesting bouquet: I smell slight cinnamon hints with a big barley punch and then some hoppiness. Appetizing.
-Taste 4.0: Front is slightly sour, but has some nice barley hints. Middle is slightly spicy (must be the Rye) and has more slight sourness. Finish is short and dry and features some subdued but strangely assertive hops and more rye spiciness. Aftertaste is also short and dry and hits you with more of the barley/rye. Unusual and enjoyable.
-Mouthfeel 3.5: The level of carbonation in this brew really adds to the enjoyment of the beer.
-Overall 4.0: Very good beer that is worth a try. Would be a fantastic session beer as the under 5% ABV would allow you to enjoy several without changing into a creature of the night. I think ol' Larry Talbot himself would be proud. Now go howl at the moon... .

A - Very clear copper red with a tan head. Head is fluffy and has big bubbles.
S - Butter, toffee, sweet grain and a faint whiff of earthy hops.
T - Buttery, metallic and somewhat bitter. It finishes very clean and maybe a bit astringent. The rye adds a nice touch of spice to a pretty sessionable ale.
M - Thin with light carbonation.
O - This seems like it might be best categorized as an English Mild. It is a very drinkable beer with some nice flavor. I'll try it again for a change of pace. This would really excel if you are having a good afternoon session at the pub.

From twelve ounce brown glass bottle with no discern able date.
Arom is of a slightly bready malt. Pours a deep amber red with light beige small head. Head disappears rapidly and leaves a tracing of lace. Taste is of dark fruits; date and fig, some mild berriness. Bit of bitey bitterness in the aftertaste. Warming for a chilly evening.

Deep amber. Clear. Good amount of rising carbonation. Small frothy head.
Malty and fruity aroma. Just a slight hint caramel and earthy.
Light on flavor. Malty, slight toasted caramel, fruity, grassy, just a dash of earthy. Medium-bodied. Clean-dry finish.

Poured into tulip class
Appearance: Coppery red, clear, pours thick white head that slowly fades.
Smell: Malty, sweet, red berries.
Taste: Rye, maltly, somewhat sweet, minimaly bitterness, hints of berries.
Mouthfeel: full bodied, decent carbonation.
Overall: A decent beer, but not as good as the brown ale. A fun concept, but doesn't live up to the promises on the label.
