Came in a goblet jet black with a deep beige head atop, very creamy and sticky to go with a menacing looking body.Sweetish vanilla and big coffee roast stood out most in the nose,as it warmed chocolate really came into play...even a hint of toasted coconut although light.Loved the creamy fuller feel, almost a nitro pour feel. The vanilla hits up front on the palate with more chocolate than in the nose, slightly wood-like with charred coffee in the back end.I'am not a coconut fan and it's subdued in this beer but not invisible, just a fantastic RIS here, had on tap kinda hard to find bottles.

Pours black with dark tan colored head bar pour head. Really nice sheet lace for a bar pour head.

Aroma little subdued for me dark roasted malts, mostly chocolate, light coffee, vanilla.

Taste is better, roasted malts lots of chocolate notes, good coffee, vanilla hints of coconut. Good pine bite from some hops to keep it from being cloying mingling with a bitter coffee bite, really dry finish.

Mouhfeel is big medium almost full think the dry finish makes it seem a little lighter.

Overall not bad good flavors, subdued nose and wierd dry finish keep it from being great but a solid big stout that I would have again given the chance. Be interested in trying it in a bottle.

Coffee ganache with nice bitterness. Roasted aroma very inviting. Not getting coconut. Vanilla is subtle, but nice.

12 ounce bottle - $3.99 at Total Wine & More in Kennesaw, Georgia.

Appearance: Pours a very dark brown, near black body with a smallish, rather brief, light beige head.

Smell: Scented soundly of roasted malts, deeply toasted bread, a few drops of salty soy, cream-dosed coffee, toasted-up dried coconut and chocolate candies.

Taste: A soothing, roundly sweet-tasting maltiness curtailed by just a bit of alcohol and some roastiness (a product of the grain bill and its coffee addition). Lightly nutty oatiness, toasty coconut shards, some milk chocolate. Its sweetness slowly recedes leading into the gently drying, roasted finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-soft carbonation. Smooth, velvety body. A gentle and almost gentile mouthfeel.

Overall: Pretty solid, likable stout. Sure, with a mere three adjuncts in the form of coconut, coffee and vanilla, this is still five to seven ingredients shy of what today's beer drinkers expect, but I thought it was squarely decent.

On-tap at Sticks & Stones, Greensboro, NC

A: The beer is jet black in color. It poured with a quarter finger high tan head that died down, leaving lacing on the surface and a narrow collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Moderate aromas of coconut and vanilla are present in the nose.
T: The taste follows the smell and has lots of flavors of coconut with strong notes of vanilla and hints of coffee and dark malts.
M: It feels medium- to full-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: This beer is pleasant to sip, especially if you like coconuts and vanilla. It would make for a good selection as a dessert beer. No alcohol is perceptible.

Serving type: on-tap

Poured into a tulip. Drinking at cellar temp. Deep, dark pour with some slight chestnut highlights. Fine looking floaties; it doesn't bother me just pointing this out. Smell is roasted malts, vanilla, coffee, chocolate in that order. Roast, vanilla, non bitter coffee, more vanilla, marshmallow, chocolate. Really well blended and nothing takes over. Smooth mouthfeel, slightly thin body. I didn't taste any coconut but that didn't detract anything. Solid.

A: Pours an opaque yet still clear jet black in color with moderate amounts of fine active visible carbonation along the edges of the glass and faint dark cola brown colored highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy dark tan head that slowly reduces to a large patch of medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Significant amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate to strong aromas of rich dark chocolate and roasted malts with moderate aromas of vanilla, coffee, and toasted coconut (with the vanilla, coffee, and coconut become more pronounced as the beer comes up to temperature).

T: Upfront there are slightly stronger than moderate flavors of roasted, chocolate, and dark malts with a moderate amount of lactose + caramel sweetness. That is followed by moderate to strong flavors of rich dark chocolate and slightly heavier than moderate flavors of vanilla + coffee. There is a light to moderate flavor of toasted coconut as well. Light hints of earthy hops. Light to moderate amounts of roasty bitterness which fades away quickly leaving a lingering milk chocolate sweetness.

M: Slightly heavier than medium bodied with moderate amounts of carbonation. Smooth with only minimal hints of alcohol warming in the finish.

O: Really enjoyable with enough complexity of flavor + aroma and a nice synergy amongst the adjuncts (coffee, vanilla, and toasted coconut). Slightly sweet but easy to drink and not cloying. Definitely one that I would grab again.

Aroma is chocolate and vanilla dominant, roasty, with a kick of coconut in the finish. Coffee weaves throughout.

Flavor is sweet vanilla bean dominant initially, with an off-putting character miss palate that I'm thinking is green coffee bean notes, and roasty bitterness in the finish. The coconut and nutty malt for everything together in the finish. May have been better without the coffee.

Poured from the bottle into snifter.

Color is midnight black with nice slightly tan head.

The star of the show is the bitter chocolate, supported by some coffee, and a hint of the vanilla and coconut, giving it just a touch of sweetness on the back end to cut through the bitterness and roastiness, making this Imperial stout highly drinkable. Nice combination of flavors. Would definitely order this one again. Another good one in the Warrior Series.

Appearance - The beer poured a black color with mocha colored bubbles.

Smell - The nose head a nice Baker’s chocolate nose.

Taste - my first impression is the chocolate. It is a sweet syrupy chocolate that is balanced with a little burnt malts in back. There is a sense of vanilla and perhaps dark cherry hidden. The beer becomes slightly more bitter in the after.

Mouthfeel - The beer is so smooth it’s like a nitro stout.

Overall - This is delicious.

12oz bottle from Total Wine (Kennesaw, GA). 2.39. Bottled 2/2/17. Served in a goblet. Enjoyed 11/30/17.

Pours a dark chocolate brown, near black with two fingers of fluffy pale khaki head. The foam shrinks to a wide central patch and cottony ridge, leaving large swaths of lacing.

Aromas of light chocolate, creamed coffee, mild roast, faint and some earthy coconut.

Tastes of vanilla, mocha, cooked caramel, vague coconut, a hint of pine and just a tiny smidge of alcohol.

Smooth, velvety medium full body with moderately light carbonation. Vanilla creamed caramel macchiato dances on the palate in the aftertaste.

Good work from Highland. The adjuncts come through nicely, particularly considering how long it took me to get around to drinking it. I wouldn’t mind having this one again, especially if they saw fit to stow it away in spirit barrels for a while.

Poured into a Wicked Weed snifter. Base of bottle says Filled 02/02/17.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/4 inch tan head that retains well before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and a half sheet of sheer surface foam. Resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Sweet milk chocolate aroma with some mocha undertones and some faint coconut.

T- It's like eating a chocolate bar with caramel. Lots of sweet chocolate plus some nutty character but not a ton of coconut. Medium roast coffee comes through in the aftertaste. The ABV is very well-hidden. A little bit of a raisin note lingers on the palate.

M- Semi-creamy with medium carbonation and a full body.

O- Great as far as chocolate stouts go. Was hoping for a bit more coffee and coconut but it's tasty all the same.
