Nice dark color. Tan head that lasts. The smell was somewhat muted to me. It was a little more bitter than I expected. Overall a nice brew, but won’t make it into my rotation.

Picked up as part of a mixed six pack for $10.98 from the Ingles cooler on Spartanburg Hwy in Flat Rock 8-27-21. Bottled 5-10-21; consumed 11-16-21. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured cola brown with a big off white head that is two fingers after five minutes.
Nose is a decent bouquet of roasted malts and floral hops.
Taste is a roasted malt and oatmeal backbone that is hopped nicely enough to balance the sweetness. No astringency at all.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied and smooth.
Overall a real likable sessionable brew. Definitely one at a nice price to put into the rotation occasionally!

Pours a dark chocolate brown color with a khaki colored head that settled into a light cap with some lacing on the glass.
The aroma is of toasted brown bread and caramel. Perhaps a hint of chocolate.
The taste is of brown bread and scorched caramel. Some chicory. Roasted bitterness.
The oatmeal provides a nice smooth and heavier feel; soft carbonation. Starts sweet on the palate and finishes dry and bitter.
A nice flavorful porter. Oatmeal provides the girth to the beer and doesn't overpower.

Poured from glass bottle to chilled mug. Poured dark but clear and finished the pour with a beautiful 2 finger tan head and long-lasting lacing. Nose was hard to determine. Not much there. Oatmeal stouts are my favorite so I knew what I was looking for, but really all I got was a malty smell, slightly toasted nuts, and that was pretty much it. I smelled musk as well unfortunately. As for taste...very, very light. It tastes very watered down, but does finish with a nice caramel tinge. Not a very strong flavor at all. Mouthfeel was thin/light and watery again. Sadly, I think this beer is a bit overrated. There are MUCH better oatmeal stouts/porters out there.

Bought this bottle at my local tap house Tapped in Greenville NC, because we can't go and have a proper pint on draft due to Covid 19.
Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.
Appears black with a nice tan foamy head and lacing.
Smells chocolatey, coffee, Malty.
Taste follows the nose.
Mouth feel is medium plus with a very nice creaminess.
Overall, I'm looking forward to the day I can have this as a proper pint.
I would definitely order again.

For a Long Time, I had been avoiding this Company. I wasnt a fan of their labels, so I passed by this beer a lot in the beer section. Fast forward to Now, I've learned not to judge a Beer by its Label. Beginning with the Look. This beer pours a dark Coffee color. Minimal head generation so I did the Belgian swish and pour technique to get a lovely light tan cap of foam. The head lasts for a while, and leaves a lacing on the glass. tilting the glass, you see the carbonation stay with the beer. Talking about the smell, It's a nice Chocolate aroma somewhat buttery and not much else. moving along to taste. Not much in the way of complexity, still very tasty though. Starts off toasty and Malty with chocolate coming in. In the middle, a Buttery tang with more toasted Malt character guiding my pallet along. Crisp, dry finish that is refreshing. Feel is medium with a slight creaminess. Carbonation is good and stays with the beer. Overall a Great beer. I would love to try more!

OMFG!
I'm new to the craft beer scene (after 40 years of drinking), but this beer is absolutely fanf-INGtastic. I'm too much of a beer-tard to describe in proper terms the aspects of this beer. All I know is, this beer kicks ass. How can a beer this dark, very dark brown, be this smooth? My all time #I beer is Guiness and this has moved into the #2 spot after one beer. Extra props for being brewed here in NC.
Ranks a 10 out of 10 on the would you like to sit down with a 12 pack of this brew scale.

Good porter. Higher bitterness on aftertaste. Very malty. Lighter mouthfeel than a lot of porters. Lots of good porters out there. This one is a good one, even if a slight step behind the elites ones.

After surviving a hurricane and sweating it out for a couple of weeks, it is nice to finally get back to reviewing some beer. An oatmeal porter to complement the cooler weather down here in Florida is perfect. Poured from a freshness dated 12 oz. bottle: very deep brown to black hue, much like a Coca Cola, with a thin and quickly receding beige head.
Faint hints of cocoa and spice along with some roast - not very distinct.
The flavor begins with a mild, tangy hop profile that quickly transitions to light roast and hints of chocolate. While not hugely distinct, it manages to keep your interest and is extremely quaffable.
Super silky and smooth mouthfeel with some roasted chocolate lingering on the palate.
Very good interpretation of the style, though I believe I would have to tip my hat to Samuel Smith's oatmeal stout. Well worth seeking out.

From notes 8/17/14: Pours a brown so deep it appears black with ruby/garnet highlights when held to the light. The pour produces 3 fingers of somewhat lasting, tan, foamy head that leaves moderate lacing. Aroma is musty/smoky dark malt, cocoa, hints of coffee and a faint sourness. Taste is dark malt, semisweet dark chocolate, molasses and dark fruits. A light bitter hop character initiates at mid-sip, intensifies into the finish where it lingers into the aftertaste. Aftertaste is malty char, dark chocolate and faint licorice in a lightly sour bitterness. Mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with low to moderate carbonation, creamy and chewy with a little spicy bite in the finish.

Thin brown body with small tan head. Spotty lacing and nice blanket of carbonation remains.
