This American Pale Ale is meticulously handcrafted for full floral hop aroma and flavor. Light in all sorts of ways. Light yellow. Light film. Light piney taste with some grapefruit overtones. Light abv of 4.5. Just enough crisp bite to keep it interesting.

Pours - Very light golden color not much head or lacing.

Smell - Slightly citrus notes little bit of hop.

Taste - I get some grapefruit and light citrus notes little bit of hops.

Feel - Very light body and smooth very clean.

Overall - A decent pale ale I would probably have again.

Going in, seemed like this had all the attributes of a good pale ale, but in the end, the finish was lacking. Even for a pale ale, this lacked flavor and character. Was brewed five months ago -- maybe it lost some character over time. Nice crispness, hoppy bitterness, but for my tastes, just not enough back end to differentiate this pale ale from a lager.

Was probably great when fresh. My bottle was from 3/2015 and it shows. Doesn't age gracefully. Ends up being lighter on flavor which is really bad for an already lighter beer. Was still refreshing, no real bitterness and slightly citrusy, but not something I would seek out again.

A 12oz bottle bottled on date of 3.19.15

L - Bright yellow, 1 finger of head and some nice lacing left on the glass

S - Bitter hops, its been dry hopped for sure.

T - Lemon, lime, light battering hops, pilsner malts.

F - Medium carbonation, light body

O - Its a session pale ale....so it is what it is. VERY drinkable and refreshing however. Great summer time brew

Lots of pine with a fruity finish. Good head retention. The Simcoe and maybe pilsner malt seems prominet. Pretty good and easy drinking but not much complexity or anything.

Between its straw color and crystal-clear light body, this seasonal APA from Highland Brewing Company is on the "lighter" end of the spectrum for the style; as far as aroma and flavor go, Highland nailed it. The nose is a very nice blend of stronger pine and grapefruit with weaker floral notes; on the palate these flavors are well-balanced against a proper amount of hops bitterness. A bitter finish- both hops and grapefruit- lingers as it should but does not overstay its welcome. This is a great example of the how enjoyable this style can be when properly executed.
