A- black with a thin tan head

S- Delicious coffee aroma dominates with some chocolate coming though.

T- Just like the smell, coffee dominates.

M- A bit too watery. Carb is moderate.

O: The aroma is the best part. Pretty good overall but have had better for the style. Happy I had a chance to try it thanks to a gift from my NC friends.

Poured from the bottle into a nonic pint glass.

Deep opaque simple black walnut body, with maybe an edge of red to it. Light tan head, a little soapy but a bit of a soft flat top to go with it. Two solid fingers tall, and settles to a finger nicely keeping a good puck.

Aroma hits the coffee angle wonderfully. Bang on hints of roasted beans, a milky vanilla and wonderful creamy sensation as well. Literally can feel piping coffee steam coming off this, and it's really nice. Light hints of chocolate qualities too, real nice.

Palate delivers the goods. Roasty and large but wonderfully controlled. Excellent piping warming bean notes and mixed dark roasted malts in the mid palate. Ripping beans and grain, with a real nice light and easy finish. Light bodied, not warm or bitter either, with a bit of milky texture that accents classic creamy flavors as well to match the coffee angle excellently.

A really well done coffee brew. Excellent integrated coffee flavors on a solid base.

Strong coffee flavor, especially for such a low ABV compared to its intensely flavored counterparts. Roasty and featuring a good balance between coffee bitterness and the sweetness of the chocolate malt.

On draft, served in shaker pint.

Black in color, nice off white head that stays. Pleasant coffee aroma, roasty, some chocolate too. Good balanced taste, nit too acidic or bitter. Medium to thick body and mouthfeel.

Wow - what a complex, delicious beer! Of course, if you don't like coffee and don't like bitter brews, best you not give this one a try.

Pours a dark black with a foamy, tan 1" head. The smell is of roasted coffee with slight caramel/candy overtones. Taste is, you guessed it, a strong hit of coffee, bitter, and just an overall complex, satisfying mouthfeel. Clearly this is not a session beer, although if you wanted to have a few of these over the course of 4 or 5 hours, you'd be in for a satisfying treat.

With Thanksgiving coming up, this would be a great dessert beer.

One of the best porters, ever. There is sometimes a lingering aftertaste but I think that depends on the age/batch.
