Nice old looking oak bar, with multiple levels and a decent menu. Each bar has about ten taps and 15-20 bottles. Nothing too special, mostly BMC. Some Brooklyn, Stella, Blue Moon, and a heffe weisse. Looks like a good local place to hit up, but nothing worth going out of your way for. I remarked to a friend that if this bar were in my town, I would probably go there often. Since it's a half hour away, unless I was in the area, I probably wouldn't go back there again."Not that there's anything wrong with that..."

Better food than beer options. Very laid back. The servers are always very nice.
Local place that is fine if you are going to meet up with friends. Don't expect to be blown away by the beer selection

An older-style, out-dated looking bar with a pretty good list of appetizers and brews on draft and in bottle form... decent crowd when I went, seemed to be alot of regulars and old timers... bar tender seemed to know everyone... went with two friends, and overall decided that it was about average place to go in and grab a drink... if it was closer to where i live, probably would go back once in a while, but wouldn't venture the distance to come back again, overall a standard run-of-the-mill place... not too exciting or bad either...

I lived in Allendale for ~22 years (grew up there), and I have to say, the AB&G is really nothing special. That said, it's a place that I do like, and I go there when I'm back in town visiting the fam. The beer selection is not the greatest (about the most interesting beer choice is Hacker-Pschorr Weisse in a 16 oz. bottle, and the rest is pretty standard). There are two levels to the restaurant, each with a bar (I prefer the upstairs bar).

Certainly not a bar/restaurant worth traveling far to get to, but worth stopping in if you live nearby.

One of the premier bars in the world (just go to the video tape or any drink recipe book). One of the all time great bars, inventor of Mudslide and Kevin's Coffee. This place stacks up against most bars in the US or anywhere else. The beer menu is pretty long and the food is excellent (though not a GREAT beer bar by any stretch of the imagination). They have a great Happy Hour. Has spawned the almost as great Mahwah Bar and Grill. I give the Allendale Bar and Grill my almost highest rating and the Mahwah Bar and Grill an almost distant second.
