Big pillowy head, fades slowly, thick lacing, clear honey blond color
Nose is interesting, toasted grainy malts but big Brett too, little farmhouse funk and tart sour notes, a bit of sweet blond malt
Taste more sweet malts, blond malts with mild funky Brett or farmhouse yeast funk, fruity, little tart, sweet candy but bready and a bit grassy, little citrus candy
Mouth is med to fuller bod, decent carb, touch of alcohol warmth
Overall another interesting and decent beer that seems to have a very low rating and not sure why. maybe bottles that get to the U.S. are bad and the versions in Europe are much better?

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

It pours a light golden colour, completely clear, with a big head. The carbonation is average- not too much CO2, bubbles quite small, but not delicate. Lovely sweet slightly floral aroma, I thought. Nice balance of sweetness and bitterness on the palate. Initial hit bitter, then sweet finally leaving a bitter- but not unpleasantly so- aftertaste. This beer does not have great depth of flavour, or massive subtlety. What it does have is length of flavour, and evolution of flavour for several moments after the swallow.

Bottle: Poured a deep golden color ale with a huge pure white foamy head with some good retention and some nice lacing features. Aroma of grainy and unrefined malt is bordering on unpleasant. Taste is also dominated by this unrefined grain which I find is bordering on adjunct taste with little yeast or hops characteristics identifiable. Body is above average with some nice carbonation.

A basic Velgian beer, comsumed at Smokeless Joe's. Performs less than average after stronger beers, a basic yeasty performance and drying. Average taste, Nothing too special as a Belgium and a beer, a marginal contender, though a valiaant attempt. Under average mouthfeel.

Similar to Affligem Blonde. This one is closer to a Belgian Pale than an American Blonde. While we’re on the subject, how come there isn’t a category for French Blondes. There are a ton of them that don’t fit into Biere de Garde, Belgian Pale, or American Blonde categories? That’s what this really is.

At any rate, beyond a weird alcoholyness, this one is pretty good. A nice sweet, light fruit front is followed by subtle spices and a lemony, slightly bitter hop finish. Appearance is a crisp light gold with a healthy off white head. Mouth feel is bubbly and crisp. The aromas are of nice Belgian yeasts and grass.

750 ml champagne style corked bottle, bought in Denmark. Pleasant fruity and yeasty aroma. Clear golden colour, good head. A light bodied (despite 6.5% ABV) blonde ale, aimed to please - and it does. Flavour is fruity sweet but not cloying, just a faint hint of spices. Easy drinking, some other raters on the internet seem to have expected a strong and dark Belgian to hit them in the head - forget that, this is a delicate French blonde to be savoured for what it is. I like it!

For one of the few abbey beers brewed in france (heck, for a beer brewed in france), the St. Landelin blonde is definetly a nice beer. Pours a moderately cloudy golden/orange tone, with a slight fizzy head beween white and tan. The smell, malty and spicy is actually very interesting, and it is kept up in its richness by the taste, only slightly lacking in terms of the abundant (and slightly disturbing) presence of the alcohol (even though not very high in ABV). Still, this beer gets the Andreji Approval.

From the can - metallic and sweet aroma with some hops. A bit fruity. Dull gold-amber clear liquid with a white, small lacing head. Had a medium watery body and medium-high carbonation. Medium sweet, wheaty start. The finish is lightly hoppy and not much bitterness. After is dull with some honey and wheat. Masks the 6.5%ABV well.
