Sestri Levante, 21/7 2024. 33 cl bottle from Gulliver, Via Nazionale, Sestri Levante. A golden bearded fellow with Wild hair on the Black label.
Pours clear yellow with a mid-sized white head. Stable. Settles as thin but unbroken layer of foam covering the surface of the beer. Crawling up the sides of the glass. Substantial lacing.
Aroma is medium intense with a sweet malty odor mingling with a yeasty scent of moldy cellar. Sweet pale malts and bread. Sour grans and metallic alcoholic. Moldy cardboard.
Light carbonation. Slightly thick, oily, soft, almost flat texture.
Flavor is medium intense with a strong sweetness followed by a moderately strong bitterness. Aftertaste is bitter with a rough boozy edge. Sweet undertone. Finish is sweet and boozy.
A boozy Demon indeed.

Pale straw color, mid-sized white head. The aroma of malt and alcohol. The taste is malty sweet and with tonnes of alcohol as well. Would not buy it again.

Light yellow color with a thin fluffy head.
Relatively mild aroma considering its abv and with notes of faint booze, sugar and maybe a faint herbal.
Flavor with notes of booze, spices, mild apple juice, adjuncts, cardboard and aluminum. Dry aftertaste with a mild to medium bitterness.
Light body with mild carbonation.
Unbalanced Strong Lager with predominant booze and sugary notes without enough hops or body to counter balance it.

Hop Extract, Corn, Rice, and the claim of being one of the world’s «plus fortes bières»… I don’t like writing bad reviews… what I’ll say is that the people at Goudale can and have done much better.
Heavy carbonation. Tastes very boozy, but I didn’t taste much else.

11.2 oh-zee bottle dumped into a tumbler. “Best by 12.31.24”, but I think this Demon could live in the bottle for 3 centuries.
Smells nostagic. Colt 45 on ‘roids. OE 800 and Steel Reserve. Maybe a bit of piss, upon further review.
Tastes like a cocked and loaded Colt 45, buff with fermented corn, rice, and hop extracts. Big alky bite. The Dirty Shame.
Feel is: Icky goo strut, mid on the carb.
Overall, it’s a mussed up Nephilim that shouldn’t be beautiful, but it can be.

Typical high strength Belgian beer. Won't be to everyone's taste, but remember how its supposed to be drunk - sipped in the same way as a spirit. Two of these with a meal will last you the evening.

De Club del Gourmet de El Corte Ingles de El Duque. Lata. En copa Alhambra. Viendo La Casa de Papel 3x03-05. Suave dulzor alcoholico. Sin estar mal, el exceso de alcohol y tamaño dificilultan terminarla. Si al menos tuviese mas riqueza de sabores...

Well, I didn't set it to find bad strong beers here on my first trip to France (skiing) but mostly what I found is a nice selection of Belgians and Guinness. This baby is huge and malty, and unlike some of the other super strong ones they carry, this one has some redeeming social value.
It pours yellow and clear with just a bit of head. There is a malty beer smell, and alcohol. The taste is very sweet and boozy. About right for these style, and they didn't skimp on the malts.
Recommended, but be aware that this really is loose-it-beer. Good night!

330ml bottle as a gift from France:
Shocking stuff & awful tasting throughout, the nose definitely wasn't as bad & came through very slightly better than expected but still wasn't exactly great but the taste was beyond bad. Coming through as a mix of strong alcohol grain & the odd pale malt, the beer was chemical-like in taste with an overpoweringly sickening taste & it meant it was one I struggled to drink even a fraction of before pouring it down the drain; only it's appearance (& to some extent, the nose) saved it from being one of the worst beers I've ever had.

Brasserie Goudale "La Biere Du Demon"
,33l brown glass bottle, "Best before: 28.08.19 L09 115"
1.94€ Carrefour City Batignolles, Paris, FR
Notes via stream of consciousness: Another "devil" beer, how could I pass it up? And at 12% abv? It's poured a clear golden body, fingerprint-through the-glass clarity in fact, beneath a short head of bright white foam. A fairly standard amount of tiny bubbles can be seen steadily streaming upwards and it doesn't seem that carbonated. To boot, the head is dwindling which would indicate that as well. Of course at 12% abv head retention is usually fairly limited anyway so we'll see. In the nose it's very mild. I get a hint of malt and that's it. I was expecting some Belgian yeast character but that's OK, at least it's clean and there's no alcohol showing - a good sign! On to the flavor... there's more to it than the aroma suggests but not by much. The malt is basic and boring, there's some sugar in use there and it's not that grainy - which makes me wonder how they've kept it so clean. There's a touch of hops to it, mainly herbal, and they blend nicely with the lightly sweetish malt. A stiff bitterness balances that, but it's the alcohol, I believe, that's giving it a spiciness and really helping to dry it out in the end. Medium-light in body and crisp. Fairly good lacing in looking at the glass right now. OK overall. So, ho hum, it's kind of boring but at least it's nicely done. I'm not sure if it's intended to follow Duvel, although that seems to make sense, but it's certainly not on that level, although it is clean. If you were looking to get drunk this might be a good choice, but for my tastes it's just not delivering enough satisfaction to make that worth it.
