Took home a growler from the brewery on September 21, 2013.
It has a deep black color with low carbonation and virtually no head. The carbonation bubbles tend to cling to the side of the glass.
Sweetness is the first reaction on my nose along with dark toasted malts, dark fruit, and yeast. Nothing much in the way of hops.
The body was a bit less than medium although it felt creamy on my lips. I think I might have liked something with more texture.
The taste is similar to the aroma with a moderate sweetness and dark fruit character and a low bitterness at the end. Not a lot of lingering but it does some. The 9.0% ABV alcohol is well-integrated making this a potentially dangerous beer to drink because it is so easy to drink - and one might go a bit overboard.

12oz bottle into a Duvel tulip. No bottle date, but I believe I purchased it in the summer of 2011.
A: Black with brown highlights; thin dark tan head that settles into a ring and leaves spotty lace. Pretty standard.
S: Slight tartness, with a Oud Bruin-style cherry twang. The fruitiness plays well with some base chocolate maltiness. I'm enjoying it, but I don't think it's what the brewer intended.
T: More purely stout-like here, but sadly nowhere near as interesting as the nose. Baker's chocolate dominates, with profound bitterness throughout. There's a touch of dark fruit, but it distracts more than it adds. The finish is astringent and dull. Not great.
M: Medium body, way too much prickly carbonation.
O: This one appears to have had a mild infection, leading to some acetic tartness and an overabundance of fizz. It really isn't terrible, though - just below average for the style.
Cheers!

The packaging is pretty rough. 12 oz. longneck with a matte label and a drawing of a dragon spearing a knight with his tail in the style of a middle school artist.
Pours black with very little head. Some natural carbonation give it about a half an inch, but then dissipates to nothing.
Smell is similar to what a Russian Imperial Stout should smell like: burnt sugar, molasses, sherry, and of course dark chocolate.
Taste is somewhat sour. Very light sourness...maybe just acrid from heavily roasted grains?? It comes off as sloppy. I think it tastes like they used too much black malt or something in their malt bill and it is way too prominent. Plus, that sourness (I don't think it was from any infection) is just unpleasant.
There is really too little carbonation and a weak medium body.
To me this comes off as a poorly executed RIS.
