If you looking for a Grain Belt Premium only.... imported this is your beer. Pours golden with thick head of almond. The smell was like that of a run of the mill american lager. And i am pretty sure if I was to taste it side by side with a Grain Belt it would be identical in taste. That is to say its quite malt forward with a little bit of caramel to it and yes... refreshing and good overall feel about it. Not what I would call a craft beer but not terrible ... also not note worthy either.

Cans. 11235 on the bottom. Got these to add fresh hops to, rated before doing so.

Bright amber orange gold. Chunky lacing and lasting head retention.
Smells like old cereal malts, very bland.
Mild cereal grains, boring malt bill, sweet and bland.
Taste is similar, dull and grainy, plain old beer.
Light feel, a little more presence than the american macros.
Overall dull and unexciting, who knows how old these cans are without accurate dating.

-pours a clear golden with a medium,foamy,white head
-high carbonation visible
-low to medium bitterniss for the style
-very sweet
-medium,soft carbonation
-light body
Very reminiscent of a Czech Svetly, but too sweet and not quite hoppy enough.

Pours a light gold (filtered) with full head that lasts for a while and leaves a few bits of lace. Nose is light grain and some pear. Not a bit nose, but fresh. Taste is crisp light grain. Not much going on here, but highly crushable. As it warms, the finish becomes less pleasant. Overall, a good beer for a hot summer day if you aren't looking for anything to think about.

From a 16.9 oz can to a nonic glass. Code on can bottom says 24435.

A-The beer is deep golden in color with just a slight chill haze clouding things up. The head is tall and barely off-white. Retention is good and the foam clings to the glass as I drink.

S-The aroma is a somewhat underwhelming mixture of honey sweetness, cooked carrots, lightly floral hops, and light yeast notes. Kinda muddled.

T-The taste is similar, but with more biscuit and bread crust. Honey sweetness blends with hints of dry grass and floral hop flavors.

M-The body is robust and creamy. The beer drinks easily but fills you up.

O-This is a good looking beer and the can was nice to look at too, but the smell and taste were a little off the mark. Not offensive, just nothing worth writing home about.

Nothing awesome, but a good pint for a European brew. I ended up with it on a sampler platter. Nothing I would go buy, but if I was given a case I would still really enjoy it. Solid pint.

Had this on draft at Laschet's Inn (half litre mug). I thought this was a lovely offering! Clean, crisp, refreshing and slightly, sweet, floral on the finish. Could drink it all day as it's hanging around 5%ABV, too.

Mystery dating on this & no decoder ring handy, bummer

Pours a very effervescent gold with 3 fingers of gorgeous fluffy eggshell colored head. Nice lacing & head retention

S: Pears and a little grassyness

T: Slight breadyness, a little bit of pear & grassiness, plus a touch of cloying apple juice up front. Some herbal & grassy hops, but kind overwhelmed by apple juice sweetness. Finishes too sweet, with a little grassyness

MF: Light body, fairly firm carbonation, skews sweet

Barely drinkable, close to a drain pour, disappointing

Draft offering at Wurst in Calgary.
Pours slightly hazy, golden yellow with a tall, foamy head. Foam settles to a thin film on top of the beer, small streaky lace.
Smell is basically all of grain and malt, some wet grass.
Taste is same, grain, malt, and some mild grassy hop flavors.
This beer has a good level of carbonation, crisp mouth feel, easy enough to drink.
Overall, this is a pretty average beer, nothing special, there are better examples of the style.

Disappointing, coming from the heart of beer country. Bland, musty lager, clear golden with thin white head. Aroma is day old bread dough, slightly sour, taste is funky grain, no hops what so ever. Blech!

A - Pours clear straw colored with a hint of amber. One finger of head that quickly dissipates to a light cap and minimal lacing.

S - Sweet bread and apple, possibly a hint of citrus.

T - Starts out sweet with a bit of apple, getting breadier on the swallow. Just a small hint of hops.

M - Light body and carbonation.

O - Not bad for a session beer, but not really following Marzen style. Too light in body and flavor.

A: Pours a crystal clear medium golden yellow in color with moderate to heavy amounts of active visible carbonation and faint lemon yellow highlights. The beer has a three finger tall dense foamy white head that slowly reduces to a mottled medium thick film covering the entire surface of the beer and a medium thick ring at the edges of the glass. Moderate amounts of lacing are observed.

S: Moderate aromas of grainy + biscuit malts with a light to moderate aroma of floral + grassy hops.

T: Upfront there is a light to moderate flavor of grainy + biscuit malts with just a hint of grainy sweetness. That is followed by light flavors of floral + grassy hops which imparts a light amount of bitterness which does not linger for long.

M: Light to medium bodied with moderate to heavy amounts of carbonation. Crisp upfront and smooth through the finish.

O: Easy to drink and refreshing, very enjoyable - reminds me of many days spent in Salzburg for work... Simple but with really good flavors and aromas - a classic.

11.2 oz bottle at Austrian restaurant, NYC. Pours pale straw with tall, long lasting, fluffy, white head and lively carbonation. Aroma is of grassy hops and pale malt. Body is medium and crisp. Pale malt and some hops combine on the palate. Finish is short, barely noticeable. Standard macro crap.

I had this on tap at the Black Forest in a half liter mug. It’s brilliant gold with a 1” white foam cap. It has light malt flavors but is not as rich as other Oktoberfests.

1pt, 0.9oz can served in a pilsner glass. No date, but stamp on bottom of can was 03635.

Appearance: Clear bright gold. 1/4" white foam on top. Lots of fine strands of lacing and some big sheets of persistent lacing as well. Nice looking beer.

Smell: Mild - a bit of skunkiness with some noble hop aroma.

Taste: Clean, mild, pilsner style malt with some mild noble hop finish.

Mouthfeel: Highly carbonated, approaching fizzy but not quite. Otherwise nothing special.

Overall / Drinkability: This is not a Marzen style beer - this is a pilsner approaching Euro Pale Lager territory. A very no frills German beer that is good to look at and meets its name "Goldbrau" rather well in regards to appearance (a very good looking beer), but beyond that, isn't anything special. I am not interested in having another one or seeking it out again as there is better full-flavored German beer out there.

Has a pale golden appearance. Good lacing. Aromas of light hops and grains. A little bit of a watery mouthfeel, bit of sweetness. Flavours are a nice balance of malts and hops, one does not overtake the other. A bit of a lemony aftertaste.

A: clear; medium gold in color; 1 finger white head that receded to a thin collar; light lacing;

S: a little skunky;

T: a bit skunky for a moment, then DMS takes over; a hint of pine and pilsner malt sweetness at mid-palate; finish is lightly bitter;

M: medium bodied; moderate to high carbonation; lightly dry finish;

O: perhaps a bit old; tough to rate as I don't believe it's an Oktoberfest; fresher, this would probably be a nice, refreshing beer;

16.9 oz can from Whole Foods. Bready malt sweetness up front with a fair amount of bitterness and some floral and grassy hops. Crisp, yet smooth and tasty. An exemplary Euro lager.

My favorite lager (marzen) to date. Perfectly balanced.

Initial sweetness, mild hop, great malt finish, soft smooth mouth feel. Full bodied.
My go-to brew.

Is this really a Märzen? It's way too light, yet too sweet for a Pils and too heavy for a Helles. This almost seems like more of a Dortmunder without a crackery flavor.

It's can do better for Central Europe. Their Pils is better.

Stiegl Goldbräu
500 ml brown glass bottle
1.05€ @ BILLA, Singerstraße 6, Wien

Stiegl Goldbräu is a basic Euro lager. It's clean and well-made, combining a basic, gently bready malt with a very firm bitterness and some floral and grassy hops.

This beer is what it is, a Pilsener style beer. Its not the best I have ever had but its not the worst. I think it costs more than its worth, but its solid. I was interested in trying it. But it was nothing special. Average beer. There are adjunct lagers out there from the US that are as good as this one for a quarter of the price.

I poured this chilled in a wheat glass.

The color is clear golden with 2 finger rocky white head. The smell is fruity and lightly tangy with mild yeast ester and malt smell is noticeable. The feel is decent with good carbonation level and mildly c reamy texture with medium body and semi-dry lightly bitter finish.

The taste is very good with good malt body and light yeast in the front wtih slight hop giving a mild citrus and light spiced with subtle sweetness and light dry malt/ yeast essence in the finish. Overall this is a very good beer, enjoyable and went well with my bacon and egg breakfast taco-nice balance of malt and hops
