Pours a style-appropriate clear pale color with tons of effervescent bubbles spiraling to the top to supplement and keep the very tight cap going. It's a pretty world class appearance for a Pils.

Aromas of sweetbread, apples, pears, and light barley starch.

Flavor is much of the same which is a very positive thing. Tons of fruity flavors underneath a great bready, malty profile. Apples, pears, and light watered down melon sit atop bread and bread crusts, and some leafy qualities with a slight metallic presence which seems to be its only flaw. I imagine in Austria there's no time for it to sit in a container being shipped overseas so that metallic presence is probably not there. This is really, really good.

Feel is crisp, creamy, and smooth. Just crushable.

Overall, I have no problem doting on a beer if it's blowing my mind. This one is. It's a solid pilsner and worthy of attention. Best of class?

Watered down Euro lager, low hop bitterness but lots of Apple flavor. Just not good

Light golden yellow colour, smells like a typical euro pils - which is good. The best thing about this is the smell. Tastes surprisingly watered down, poor flavour overall. Now I get what people say about piss beer taste. Not much aftertaste, pretty bleh though. Not buying this one again.

11-23-16 - On tap at Distrikt Steakhouse in Vienna. Our waiter teased "when in Austria....", so I got a .31 liter. Clear, crisp, and surprisingly smooth. Clear straw/golden color with oh-so-white head. Little lacing. So tasty and made me feel like a local. When my filet arrived, I allowed the wife and kids to finish the bottle of red and I ordered another. Yes, I'll get it again when I get back home.

Greenish hued, cloudy light gold color. Nice head from a vigorous bottle pour. Some streaky spots on the glass.

Soft aroma of very pale malted barley. It's almost fruity like banana. Light flowery hop.

The flavor is straight forward with a light berry fruitiness. The hop provides good balance. The body and carbonation are what I expected it to be. Crisp and refreshing with enough complexity to keep this interesting.

From a 16.9 oz can (code on bottom says 02136) to a pokal glass. Reviewed from notes dated July 1, 2016.

A-The beer is lightly hued and yellow-golden in color. It is clear and the carbonation is active in the liquid. A healthy white head sits on top and hangs around for a while. Nothing special to look at, but it does look like a pils.

S-The aroma is a mixed bag of yeast, cooked corn, honey, and just a hint of grass, straw and spice. It is quite sweet smelling.

T-The taste is also on the sweet side of things. There is some honey and just a bit of lemony hops to open. The beer suggests biscuits and dried grass on the finish. I detect a slightly skunky, funky note.

M-The body is lighter than average, but in range for the style. Carbonation is soft but voluminous on the palate.

O-I can't say this is my favorite pils. It does pack more flavor than a typical AAL, but it is too sweet for my liking and the strange skunky flavor is a bit of a turn-off. Cool can art though!

L: Golden yellow, bright, clear. Head has super fine bubbles and amazing retention, Seriously impressive.
S: Pretty light aroma. Sweet honey notes, biscuits, and floral hops. Pretty standard.
T: Repeat of the nose. Overall not enough bitterness, could use just a dash more to balance out the sweetness. But certainly not bad.
F: Light body, good carbonation.
O: A solid pils. Might add this into the rotation when I want something a little less hoppy than other commonly avaiable German pils.

From Hipercor Sevilla Este. In Bavaria glass. Playing Bleed. A german pilsner just how I like them. Very drinkable, malty and tasty, without anything offplace

Pours a light yellow/straw color, good carbonation. Smells of yeast, grains and bread like with a tad bit of sulfer. To my surprise there was a bit of citrus taste to this and while a bit flawed it didn't over power or detract from the yeast/bread like taste of the beer. Medium to light mouthfeel. Good beer, was about to order a Pilsner Urquel when the bartender suggested this. Haven't had Stiegl Pils but was nice to try.
