Very Good
Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit)Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit)
Notes: Real grapefruit juice gives this deliciously refreshing Radler (mixed beer drink) its amber natural cloudiness and pleasant tangy taste. The refreshingly fruity taste makes Stiegl-Radler Grapefruit a wonderful thirst quencher.

From Austria we have Stiegl's grapefruit radler. At 2.25% abv, this beverage pours a light and cloudy yellow with a short lived white head. The nose is clearly grapefruit, and it tastes like a grapefruit soda. If you like the fruit and want something refreshing, this is going to be a good time for you. It's not something fancy or complex.

500ml can served in a big snifter. Date code is 14031. No idea what that means.

Pours a moderately hazy pale yellowish with a small, wispy head. Smell is mostly grapefruit and lemon-lime.

Taste is similar, moderately sweet, with a slight grain flavor and a bit of a citrus zest bitterness.

Mouthfeel is light and effervescent. Overall...I mean, it's hard not to like a reasonably well-made radler.

16.9 oz can.

Cloudy pale yellow color with a dense white head that leaves in a relative hurry.

Smells like fresh grapefruit, grapefruit juice, and a hint of orange.

The flavor is sweet citrus with a bit more restrained grapefruit juice character.

Light body. Lively carbonation. Absurd drinkability.

Overall this is a great radler. It's not full of complex flavors, but it comes exactly as you should expect. I could pound through a dozen of these.

On draught at Old Chicago.

Pours a cloudy yellow with a fine layer of foam.

Smells of juicy grapefruit both sweet and tart, wheat.

Taste is the same. Simple and so darn refreshing.

Light bodied, I reckon that I will drink plenty of this.

Decanted from a 16 oz (473 ml) can into a snifter glass; no obvious production date, but codes 09231 (black) and 3022 (punched) stamped on bottom. I though European manufacturers had to include at least a one year "best by" date.
A: Pours a cloudy, yellow-color with only a short lived head, lemon chiffon head and no significant lacing.
S: On the tart side with the aroma of white grapefruit and orange blossom. Needless to say, really fruity.
T: Semisweet and lightly tart. The palate follows the nose with a gestalt feel of Mimosa made with a fine sparkling white. No appreciable bitterness.
M: Light bodied with moderate carbonation.
O: This drinks like a refreshing citrus soda. Really delicious (hope I can get more).

if you handed this to me blind and told me it was a fruit soda i wouldn’t think twice, nice hazy golden to amber colour, head dissipates very quickly, smell is fresh and vibrant, super citrusy, grapefruit and orange, but fruit soda-y, can barely make out the bready malt, and on the tongue it’s all sweet fruit flavour, very sweet, just about cloying, no bitterness, not really sour or tart in any big way either which is a little surprising, syrupy, light bodied, high carbonation, its definitely drinkable and refreshing, but it’s not for me.

I live in hot, humid FLA and have been drinking shandys and radlers for many years. This radler looks and pours like an Orange Crush, but with a head, albeit short-lived. Grapefruit authenticity sets it apart. This one is tart, but not pucker-tart. More like a pink grapefruit vs regular. You don’t actually feel as if you’re drinking a beer. And with low alcohol, it’s hard to catch a buzz, which means SHE is okay with you drinking this while doing “chores” around the house! “I’m not drinking a beer, honey, it’s a Stiegl!” Can’t think of a better beer for hot, humid weather. I’ve been to the brewery and if you get a chance to go, you will see why this one is the bar by which other radlers and shandys are compared.

Pours a somewhat hazy light yellow. Smells of fresh grapefruit. Tastes like carbonated grapefruit juice, almost like squirt. Slightly heavy carbonation that works really well with the brew. Overall pretty good.
