Very Good
Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit)Stiegl Radler (Grapefruit)
Notes: Real grapefruit juice gives this deliciously refreshing Radler (mixed beer drink) its amber natural cloudiness and pleasant tangy taste. The refreshingly fruity taste makes Stiegl-Radler Grapefruit a wonderful thirst quencher.

Stiegl is the epitome of what a classic Radler/ shandy should be, though I dislike buying 11.2 fl oz euro bottles for $12 a 4 pack!

This radler pours a semi pink yellow hue with a mildly aggressive nearly clear head that is gone within seconds of its pour.

You're left with a solid smell of grapefruit candy.

The taste is of high-quality grapefruit soda, highly sweet, nearly candy-like with nearly no acidic typically found in grapefruit. There are nearly no goldbraü flavor notes, you really need to dig deep to find them.

Mouthfeel ends up a bit sticky sweet with soda-like carbonation. This is a winner hand down, btw if you're an owner of a restaraunt bar that does brunch this would make for a worldclass beer option, just don't offer it unlimitedly.

Poured from a 16oz can with no clear born on date; into a Sam Adams perfect pint glass.
Appearance- cloudy straw yellow with champagne bubbles; thin, soapy white head that leaves little lacing.
Smell- grapefruit and orange juice!
Taste - loads of grapefruit and orange flavor!
Feel - light, fizzy, flavorful and so easy to drink!
Overall- low ABV, full of flavor and in a pint can...yes please!

Whew! How do you rate a beer like this? Refreshing and juicy and crisp and so much of this is because of the grapefruit soda aspect, but man as a beer that would be great during a bbq cookout or by the pool or beach this would be hard to beat. Yellow-orange color with lots of foaming white head and spotty lingering lacing. Smells predominantly of grapefruit and orange zest, also some lemon, muddled fruity hops, malt and vanilla. Tastes similarly, and again it quenches the thirst so well because it’s so refreshing and tasty and easy to drink. Light, crisp, mild mouthfeel, good amount of carbonation. Will look for more beers similar to this one for comparison.

Hazy blonde; pink grapefruit rind; vague barley water, a big sweet citrus hit, and gentle lagery finish; crisp + fizzy.

What do you say about a beer that’s half soda? I wish it was a pils mixed in (rather than safe, dull lager like Stiegl) - the spicy hops might actual do interesting things. But if we’re calling this a beer - a big if - it’s somehow not cloying or saccharin and definitely quenches like crazy at 2% (not 2.5%, as indicated.) Wins by default.

Disappointed with this one. No alcohol % on the can. No wonder because if they put it on there no one would buy it for sure. It’s glorified grapefruit juice and Iv had better grapefruit juice. Doesn’t even taste like beer. Wouldn’t buy it again that’s for sure

This is a total surprise! I love the effervescence of this beer, it;s like a bit of fresca combined with beer. It is refreshing, light and has less alcohol. I like this beer only in a frosty mug or on ice. It's a great option when you want something lighter.

A very tasty Radler (40/60 goldbrau Helles lager & grapefruit juice). The grapefruit flavor is nice with a bright and refreshing character. A good balance of sweet, tart and bitter, with a crisp finish.

Great refresher after a summer bike ride or hike.

Poured from a 500 mL can into a glass.

Look - Pours a cloudy pale yellow with a thick white head that very quickly goes down to a small layer of bubbles.

Smell - A sweet bouquet of grapefruit and citrus rind. Very pretty on the nose.

Taste - A weirdly bitter/sour generic citrus flavor that is kinda surprising with how sweet it smells.

Feel - Lively carbonation gives it a prickly feel. Light and very refreshing to drink.

Overall - A good refresher on a hot summer day, but a bit one dimensional and uninteresting for a serious sitdown.

Can't believe I haven't rated this beer before, as I've had it many times. Pours a hazy yellow with white head. Smells like the rind of a grapefruit. Grapefruit in the taste, but without the puckering bitterness that the fruit can bring. I do not care for the fruit, but this beer is a different story. I've had a few different radlers/shandies, but this original has yet to be beat.

Dangerous beer that is extremely flavorful. It is not an overwhelmingly bitter flavor like most grapefruits. Even non beer drinkers will drink this stuff.

I don’t know why but I’ve never had a radler until tonight. I am thoroughly enjoying it. This isn’t something I would want all the time but as a “once in a while” beverage it’s quite nice. I think it would be most refreshing on a hot day. Thick white head that dissipates quickly. Lots of carbonation. Smell is grapefruit and so is the taste. Slight sweetness. Finish is tart and wet.

It is light in feel and abv. But the taste is so sickly sweet, and the body is syrupy and sticky. Like a melted down grapefruit lollipop. Decent carbonation makes me wonder if I am having beer or soda. Just feels artificial in almost every way. Still tastes decent enough, but don't need to have again.

The ABV% is super low which is about the only bad thing about this beer, otherwise it is quite refreshing and has a really good grapefruit flavor and a nice hazy look.

From a 500ml can served straight from the fridge at 9 degrees Celsius into a tulip. Best before date: 17.2.2018.

Look: The beer pours a murky yellow/pale gold with 3cm of bubbly, white head that fades into nothingness in 1+ minutes. No lacing and overall poor retention. It doesn't get much worse than this.

Smell: Moderate strength and leaning towards sharp. Faint pale malts and strong grapefruit.

Taste: Moderate intensity and sweet. Again with very faint pale malts and tons of sugary grapefruit. The finish is short and sweet with faint intensity.

Feel: Light body with moderate carbonation. Crisp with no apparent alcohol.

Overall: A simple summer refresher. Carbonated grapefruit juice. That is all. I'm interested in trying it in a cocktail.

Extremely hazy dull yellow body with fizzy white head that quickly disappears. The nose is nearly pure grapefruit juice; a touch of wheat grounds this thought. The flavor better showcases the beer aspect by providing light malt akin to bread and a bit of yeastiness. It also has no tartness and even has mild sweetness. The soda 'Squirt' comes to mind, as offensive as that may be to the brewers. The body is light, a bit sugary, lightly carbonated.
A classic for a reason. While this is an abomination to purists, it is also a shining example of incorporating (hijacking) fruit into beer, to the point where it is difficult to tell whether it is alcoholic fruit juice or very fruity beer. Worth a try no matter what camp one finds oneself in.

Pours a light hazy yellow with a scant pop of white head sitting on top. The head is quick to leave the scene.

The smell is a refreshing pop of grapefruit that does not overwhelm as it has kind of a whet bread undertone to soften it.

The taste is so darn good! Kind of like a Squirt soda with a bit more body to it. The grapefruit is prominent but like the smell does not overwhelm.

Mouth is light and fizzy. Seems to almost pop in the mouth with all of the carbonation.

There is a lot of good going on here. For a great summer Radler this one is a real nice offering. With such a low ABV a person could drink several of these and not worry about becoming a blubbering train wreck. The only bite is the price, I paid 10.99 before tax for a 4 pack of 16.9 oz. cans. i guess I could get over the price for the quality of this refreshing beverage.

Pours hazy and a mild yellow color with minimal head in the 1/5" range. Aroma smacks of grapefruit harder than your 90s ipa bragging about C hops and triple digit ibus.

Taste is like drinking a Squirt soda pretty much. Lots of grapefruit and carbonation, little to nothing in the way of hops, malt or yeast to perceive here. Do I like the "taste"? Sure. It ain't bad, I like Squirt right? But in terms of do I like the taste of this "beer" that often isn't going to be what I am looking for. Super hot day around a body of water? Sure, break it out. But like, an indoors drinking session while watching sports? Prolly not. Thankfully, the mouthfeel isn't such that it is cut with sugar to balance it out.

In terms of shandy/fruit beers, there is nothing wrong with this one at all. Prolly the gold standard from what I've had over the years. For me, the problem is, when the conditions call for this beer, I'd rather just have a session ipa, pale ale, berliner, gose, gueze/lambic etc. . .

Pounder can into a Stone pint glass.

A: Pours hazy white like white grapefruit juice; hugely foamy white head sticks around forever.

S: A citrus assault of white grapefruit, orange, lemon and lime.

T: Same here - big white grapefruit flavors as well as half-sweetened orange juice, finishes with tart lemon and lime as well as a touch of a yeasty/bready malt quality from the beer. There are even white grape/white wine flavors as well.

MF: Big effervescence in a light, refreshing body. Spritzer-like.

O: A good Radler, still fairly sweet but much more natural-tasting than some of the other mixed beer options like Leinenkugel's Shandy. Like drinking grapefruit juice. Could be a great low-abv option for summer. Refreshing.

I can't believe that this is a beer. You can taste the grapefruit juice, but no beer at all.

I have love that beer but it is far from all the other beer I had in my life. If you want a real radler with just a taste of juice.
This is the one to have.
