Amazed and delighted to find this on tap at my local cigar bar.

Having spent 6 years living in Germany, my wife and I would often take trips to the lovely city of Salzburg, Austria.

In every bar, was the familiar red staircase sign logo on signs and Stiegel lager on tap.

Stiegel Radler was a bit harder to find, but miles ahead of the decent but plain Stiegel lager. I echo the Bros. sentiment. This style should be wildly popular in the States. Drinking this beer makes me happy and makes me think of the lovely town of Salzburg.

It pours a cloudy yellow with a foamy but thin head. Dissipates quickly.

Smells like grapefruit. You know what you're in for.

Sweet, but not cloying grapefruit taste evened out by the usual lager malt mellowness.

Wonderful for the heat, and with food. I can drink this all day on the beach or in the sun, and often have. So, so happy to see it hit the shores of the United States.

I believe this to be a radler to compare all other radlers to.

Appearance - cloudy light coloured with a citrus juice consistency.

Smell - After pouring into a glass you get a distinct citrusy scent with a light fruity undertone from the light ale base.

Taste - The first sip is a citrus assault on your senses with a very well balanced relationship between the grapefruit and light ale. The second sip is smoother on the palate with a clean grapefruit flavour going down with a light ale taste left behind.

Mouthfeel - Heavy carbonation counters some of the bitterness of the grapefruit and provides a crisp finish with every sip without any lasting residue in your mouth.

Overall - This Radler is a go-to for this style. It's 2.5abv is perfect for someone enjoying a day in the outdoors without the elevated risk of impairment and dehydration. I find that one radler usually leads to a few more over the day as they seem to go well lunches and dinners. Perfectly paired with a watermelon salad, salmon dinner, or just burgers on the bbq. Cheers!

500 ml can into pint glass, no can dating. Pours hazy golden orange color with a 1-2 finger dense white head with good retention, that reduces to a thin cap that lingers. Light spotty lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation retaining the cap. Aromas of lightly tart grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, cracker, bread, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. Damn nice aromas with good balance of grapefruit juice, pale malt, and light earthy hop notes; with great strength. Taste of lightly tart grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, cracker, bread, and light herbal/grassy earthiness. Light earthy bitterness and fruit tartness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon/orange peel, cracker, bread, and light herbal/grassy earthiness on the finish for a short bit. Damn nice robustness and balance of grapefruit juice, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; with a great malt/bitterness/tartness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and light-medium bodied; with a very smooth, crisp, and slightly acidic mouthfeel that is great. Alcohol is well hidden with zero warming present after the finish as expected of 2.5%. Overall this is an excellent radler style. All around great robustness and balance of grapefruit juice, pale malt, and light earthy hop flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Phenomenal taste, but a little pricy. The alcohol tones down the tartness of the grapefruit. Found on tap at Blind Pig in Champaign.
