Had a bottle of this this past weekend at the Sunset. No freshness date, so maybe I was taking a chance, but luckily the brown bottle was there to help. I have to say, this beer tasted mighty fresh. Clear light gold with a thin white head. Original impression of some sweet corn like notes in the aroma (not off-putting) later evolved into some more grape-skin like complexity, is that Munich Malt. Cool. Beer was light and darn easy to drink, a real session brew. Some sweetness, not over the top thank god, with some pleasant toast points in the finish.

A: [3.25] The bottle lists the ABV (5.7%) but there is not date info. I've had this one for a while so I know it has at least 6 months on it. The beer is a really pale straw color. It forms a smal 1/4 finger of head with rough white bubbles.

S: [3.75] Corn, cereal, spice from some hops. Like a traditional lager but with the hops kick on the backend.

T: [4.00] Very similar to the nose. Good base lager flavor of grains, corn and malt sweetness but with a decent hop balance to spice it up.

M: [3.50] It is on the thinner side with fizzier carbonation. There is a bit of a linger to the malt sweetness.

O: [3.75] I like it. Refreshing and satisfying. Definitely not pretentious but still distinguishes itself from a traditional lager. The hop build is a subtle and nice addition. I would get this again and share it.

Look: It pours light golden with low head retention.

Smell: It has aromas of herbal hops, grass, and light grainy sweet malt.

Taste: It has malty sweet grain with herbal hops and grass.

Feel: It has a bitter bite in the aftertaste and a light body.

Overall, it is a fairly basic beer.

I always see this beer and its 16 bucks a six pack. I bought one.

It pours a nice one finger head, pale sun yellow.

Smells like the bavarian wheat fields in which it was grown. Hops, malt, is good.

Tastes very sweet, again with the hops and malt. Dont know where one ends and the other begins thom yorke...

Very smooth aftertaste, full bodied.

This beer is better than Das Boot.

Very pale yellow color with a foamy white head that is somewhat retained. Aroma is macro lager, the old hay/straw aroma with a hint of bread, some german malt/hop is present. Flavor is sweet with some maltiness and a bit of lagering flavor as well. Not terrible, but far from great.

Poured out of a 12 oz. bottle into a Duvel tulip.

A - Very light golden ale. Poured with almost no head. Very small amount of lacing.

S - Nice sweet smell. Smells is light.

T - Honey taste comes through and feels like a bit of wheat. Nice taste of citrus as well. Tad sweet on taste as well. Solid beer.

M - Light bodied and extremely crisp. Good amount of carbonation.

D - Absolutely. This is a very good drinking beer.

11.2 oz. bottle acquired in the greater Washington D.C. area after a pilsner tasting, unknown bottling date, poured into my Snallygaster mug, drank 11/6/13 over a half-hour.

A: 2/3 - straw yellow-golden coloration, high clarity (can both see or read through), thin white head quickly fizzled out into almost nothing, no alcohol legs

S: 7/12 - clean lager yeast aroma, adjuncts (corn and/or rice), pretty standard for a light adjunct/adjunct lager

T: 14/20 - on the anterior tongue, there's little-to-no bitterness; in the middle of the mouth, the adjunct and lager yeast flavors kick in; clean aftertaste

M: 2/5 - moderate carbonation, thin-bodied (essentially watery), little alcohol presence

O: 5/10 - don't understand the appeal of this beer at all, and don't even understand how it scored as high as an 81 on this site (I guess only because it's a German import); to me, it's in the same league as the typical American adjunct lagers with lots of the same characters - little-to-no flavor - no flaws but totally innocuous; if for whatever reason you're looking for a German lawnmower beer, this would be a decent choice, but I cannot imagine ever purchasing this

TOTAL = 30/50

A - Pours a very pale yellow. White fizzy head falls quickly to a skim.
S - Light roasted malts, grain, grass, bitter hops. Smells wonderful!
T - Sweet malt, honey, grass and bitterness at the end. Quite tasty.
M/F - Lightish body and smooth.
D - This is a very nice German light lager.

clear straw color, leaves a ring and some lace. bottle doesn't say export, says edelstoff

smell is of fresh grain and a fruity grassiness. the freshness is nice and the fruitiness unexpected. smells similar to a kolsch.

flavor like the smell, very fruity for a lager. fresh grapes, bright, somewhat crisp but slightly sweet finish.

a lighter bodied beer with abundant carbonation.

sure tastes light and refreshing for 5.7% abv. too bad there's that much alcohol. if this were 4 or so % would be a great summer guzzler.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a .5l stein.

Appearance: Clear as day light orange and yellow color. It yeilded a small 1 finger head that dissapated quickly but carried along some moderate lacing along the glass. Lots of bubbles at the bottom of the glass.

Smell: Amazing freshness comming through with citrusy peach smelling aromas. Nice fresh wheat and hops aromas comming through. Basically it smells like the freshest beer you have smelled.

Taste: Delicious. I love this beer. Its so fresh tasting its like your drinking it right out of the keg in Germany. Beautiful wheaty, almost hefeweizen like taste. Nice citrus and even a little bit of white grape flavors comming through. Mild sweetness enhanced with fresh tastes. Im blown away still at how much flavor its got for such a light colored beer, especially since its claimed to be the american "Light" export at 5.7%.

Mouthfeel: A little bit too carbonated. Lots and lots of bubbles. Hate to say it but its reminding me of budlight. Could definately benefit from letting it sit for a couple minutes before you start drinking. Its a light, lager style beer thats refreshing and reminds me of warmer weather but it can definately stand up during colder months.

Drinkability: Of course, its a light beer but its got a hidden 5+ almost 6% alcohol so its easy to session but it can catch us quick. Ive been drinking this stuff since i got back from Oktoberfest but its nothing like the Augustiner you get in germany. Still, nice beer with amazing flavors.
