nice straightforward german lager, aroma is predominantly bready malt, taste is the same, fresh baked brown bread, biscuit, caramel, rice, lemon, grass, light bodied, medium carbonation, low bitterness, highly drinkable but not overly flavoursome, not bad

A foamy head and generous rings of lacing all down the glass. Aromas a bit muted, but I get mostly lemon citrus, and a hint of cracker malt. The flavour is once again dominates by the very gentle lemon citrus hops character, a ghost of bitterness, and a hint of sweet malt on the long finish. Spritzy carbonation and light but rounded mouthfeel, and it doesn't even touch the sides on the way down. Overall very good stuff.

Purchased as a single 12oz bottle from The Blue Door for $4.00. Poured into a pils glass.
L - Crystal clear straw, with a minimal pale white head. Decent lacing.
S - Herbal, with notes of cracker & citron peel. A bit of light earth.
T - Matches nose exactly. A bit bitter on the finish, but balanced otherwise.
F - Light-bodied, with plenty of carbonation. Super drinkable & refreshing.
O - Pretty good lager objectively, but I personally figure it's missing... something. Glad I tried it, and love the traditional label. Probably won't go for it again, though.

Was at the local Benz and saw crates of these and got excited because most beer here is from BW rather than Bavaria and I’ll never turn down the real A-B. 50cl bottles with a BB date of 06.23. This drinks about as spot on for the style as possible. Crisp, clear, malt forward yet properly bitter in the finish. Uber drinkable. Simply delicious!
Update: currently consuming a full liter of this at the Augustiner-Keller in Munich. This has been given the wood treatment, “vom Holzfaß”. Obviously it’s insanely delicious. So smooth with the perfect malt balance. This is a great beer in the cathedral of beer.

Pours a medium blonde, small head that rapidly declines to a ring of foam, though there's a steady stream of bubbles that continue to rise. Smell is mildly bready with a bit of grass. Taste is stronger, strong malt lead, slightly buttery with grass and florals hops in the middle, leading to a crisp finish, still with a hint of butter. Seems true to the style, but a little richer and more full bodied. Overall, a very smooth, drinkable beer with a surprising amount of body.

A - Lioght gold color with some chill haze, floaties, soapy foam, and light carbonation.
S - Crackery malt and lemon citrus on the note.
T - Caramel malt base with light earthy citrus over the top along with some cardboard. Ends with a lingering citrus pine bitterness along with light caramel residue.
M - Medium body with prickly carbonation on the tongue.
O - There's alot of caramel presence in this malt base. Wish their bottle dates weren't so cryptic.

For my belated Oktoberfest. Augustiner Brau brews probably the best helles that I’ve ever had and this one is no exception - it is a terrific beer! The aroma is not too intensive though, but the taste and the feel is just phenomenal! How can I describe it? Perfect, fizzy carbonation, still kind of smooth and hoppy. The malt base adds to the smoothness to it and the hops give it a very märzen-like feel. Thought that it even has some salty notes like a steinbier?
Anyhow, this beer feels great. Very hoppy I would say, to an extent that it even feels fruity, almost like a pale ale my wife said.
Long story short, this is a great beer and this brewery makes really outstanding ones. Would love to drink new ones from them - or just the same ones but for all the time.

Foggy, light yellow-greenish body with a creamy uneven head. Smell is light and sweet; lemon, biscuit, grassy notes. Taste follows; upfront lemon, then mild floral hops and toast, then slightly sour bread dough and grassy notes. Feel is smooth, finish is dry. Extremely drinkable and refreshing, though a bit sweet for me.

Had Edelstoff at Brewhaus, Chattanooga, poured from 11.2-oz. bottle, label stamped "L249042123," into tumbler.
Pours light lemon-gold with clarity and 1/2-finger near-white head, which quickly dissipates to a persistent ring, and leaves only a very little sketchy lace. Aroma of cracker malt off pour then mild sharp stone fruit and hop spice. Begins lovely sweet malt, then a hint of sharp stone fruit, before carbonation kicks in and carries the malt into a nicely crisp finish.
Nicely malty but still light and crisp export lager.

1.5 x 0.33 L Bottles
Bottle Date: L112072128 => 22 April, 2021
Consumed: 30 May, 2022
Glass: 0.5L Willibecher
Temp at Pour: 51.3 F
Look:
Crystal clear golden yellow with a 2-inch foamy white head. The head dissipates to a consistent 0.25-inch cover. No lacing.
Smell:
Crackery and doughy malts. Grass. Herbal hops that provide a subtle zestiness.
Taste:
Light bready flavor with honey and a touch of lemon and slight hints of citrus fruit. The herbal hops then show up, providing a mild bitterness and drying things out some.
Feel:
Soft, clean, and decently carbonated with a semi-dry finish. Body is light.
Overall:
A great Dortmunder that can also double as a pretty good Festbier. This beer is extremely drinkable (maybe dangerously so) and is very refreshing. I had Edelstoff the day/night that I turned legal drinking age and it has been a perennial favorite ever since.

Appearance: Pours a completely clear, light golden color with a moderate white head. SRM of 7. (3.75)
Aroma: Moderate aromas of toasty German bread malts, German cracker, bready malts in the middle. A grassy finish. (4.25)

Feel: Medium-bodied. Strong carbonation. A yeasty and grainy mouthfeel to finish. (4.00)
Compared to Great Lakes' Dortmunder Gold 5/25/22: Pours a lighter color, lighter aromas. More toasted cracker. Less sweet honeyflower. Lighter and cleaner.
Compared to DAB Dortmunder 4/2023: Pours similar, milder head. Stronger aromas. More grains, pale bread, yeast. Less corn and honey. Dryer with more carbonation.
Compared to Hacker Pschorr Muncher Gold 4/2023: Pours identical. More dry German bread malts, grains, yeast. Less earthy honey and flower.
Compared to Weihenstephaner 1516 4/2023: Pours lighter, stronger head and aromas. More honeysuckle. Less smooth bread dough. Cleaner, similar sweetness.

Compared to Staropolskie Chmielne 5/2023: Pours lighter, milder aromas. More light cracker. Less deep honey, citrus, flower. Lighter and dryer.
Overall: A fantastic European Dortmunder here. Nice yeasty German bread and cracker malts, slightly grassy with a touch of honey. The yeast gives it a fantastically full mouthfeel nailing all of the flavors. Yet, so clean as well. There's a reason it's an authentic European Dortmunder (Rating: 4.10)

Appearance: Clear, brilliant gold. Frothy white head with excellent retention. Slow rising bubbles.
Aroma: Floral and hint of spicy. Bready malt.
Flavor: Bready, grainy and spicy. Restrained bitterness. Semi-dry.
Mouthfeel: Full bodied, soft. Light to moderate carbonation. Clean, medium length finish
Overall: Reviewing vs other German Dortmunder. Pours to a clear brilliant gold with a massive frothy white head exhibiting great retention. Aromas and flavors are bready and grainy malt with floral and spicy hops. First thing you notice is how soft it is on the palate. Even though it is a lighter looking beer, the softness gives it a more full mouthfeel. It has a restrained bitterness that is barely noticeable. You'll also note that it releases the carbonation much better than most beers. You can drink these all day. Expertly crafted.

Looks: clear golden color, active with a perfect white cap that hold on with really nice lace.
Nose: bountiful for the style! Herbal greens and slightly zippy, yeast and hop aroma pops right out. Buttery and dry earthy malt is actually really impressive here.
Flavor & Feels: Light, super crisp, clean AF with buttery, spring water maltiness and subtle, yet effective herbal, spicy and sour yeast with old world hops complexity that is rather high and yet, seemingly perfectly balanced, according to my palate.
German purity laws at it's finest!

11.2oz bottle poured into a lager glass.
A: Sunny golden color with perfect clarity. creamy white head has excellent retention. Chunky lacing clings everywhere.
S: Sweet bready and doughy malt aromas. Floral, grassy, and very slightly herbal hops. Extremely clean.
T: Doughy and bready malt open. Very light toast and grain flavor. Hops ride up with a lot of floral, green and grassy flavor. Oily with some bitterness too. Suggestions of lime leaf. Perfectly clean lager. Hint of nuttiness. Drying finish is rather quick, but there's a bit of lingering hop bitterness and grain toast.
M: Light bodied, but with that perfect melanoidin richness that brings a full and firm mouthfeel. Crisp blast of scrubbing carbonation keeps things highly drinkable.
O: Superb lager. Clean and ridiculously drinkable with a memorably complex hop profile that is bold without tipping the overall balance. This is one to seek out and drink, both for the history behind it and the delightful experience of drinking it.
