Had at the historic Oktoberfest on 2 different days.

Served in a stone masskrug, but I was able to discern it's color as being much darker than traditional oktoberfests. I really liked the pillowy head that receded over the 20 minutes it takes to drink a liter of this. Aromas were sweet, caramel malts with a bready croissant like aroma. The flavors were very full bodied and had a big caramel and candy like flavor. The mouthfeel matched the regular oktoberfest the offer. Really great beer and wish I could have had more but it was only available at the historic part of the fest.

Reviewing from Notes. I had this beer during the last day Oktoberfest 2010 in Munich. In celebration of the 200th Year they drank for an extra day. I was pumped to try this once in a lifetime beer.

Serving type: Served straight from the barrel at Oktoberfest 2010.

This one was a bit hard to deduct as it was served in a stone mug.

Not a whole lot on the nose as the head , being outdoors, and carbonation didn't lend itself well to taking in a lot on the nose. All in all this was a fairly typical Marzen that was a bit sweeter and had a nice clean finish. Given the circumstances of the celebration and collaborative effort this was a pleasure to drink.

Had a chance to try this on Ofest Opening Eve, 17SEP10, at the Historic Wiesn area, along with daughter Caitlin and old friend UncleAl.

Served in an earthenware litre mug for €8.00. Despite that, I was able to espy its true color in an overflow glass near the keg. It was a lovely, clear amber (Bernstein in german), with an off-white head. Topping was a bit rocky, and lasted fairly well, with good lacing. A mild aroma of some toastiness and a bit of floral hops ensued. This bier had a medium body, and was smooth on the tongue, with low carbonation levels.

Flavor has a touch of light caramel, along with more toasty malt and light sweetness. It is a touch flowery near the end, though much more malty all-in-all. A solid, and interesting, bier!

Prosit, to 200 years of The Oktoberfest!!!
