Refreshing on a hot day the first time I Had it, the second time was less lucky: a rainy cold day. Worse, Tusker's malty character indicates it would go with mild foods and I had it with Indian food. My bad.

Nonetheless, it is a nice simple lager whose carbonation and balancing hops cleaned the palate for more Indian food.
Did its job as well as it could.

Listed in the "1001," it is one of the best-selling beers in and from Africa. So it deserves to be on the list.

500mL can poured into a table glass. Pours a crystal clear light straw, forming a 1 finger foamy white head, which recedes gradually to leave minimal lacing. Nose is clean lightly roasted malts. The palate is less saccharine than the malt-dominated lagers of the US, and reflects a more European sensibility in its malting than that found in the Americas (both North and South - e.g. Salva Vida). Mouthfeel is relatively smooth, light-medium in body, and crisp without being overly watery. Overall, far more inoffensive than anticipated. There's a certain nostalgia here for Austrian lagers that biases this review, but the beer is undeniably drinkable, and well rounded. The fuller, more savory predilections of the beer are nicely reminiscent of an older lager tradition from the other side of the Atlantic.

Pours a crystal clear pale straw colour with a thin white head that dissipates quickly. The nose starts with a raw grain, wet grass aroma that is surrounded by sweet malts. The taste is quite weak with some slight malt taste that has some lingering bitterness around the edges. The mouthfeel like the taste is quite watery. I suppose in the hot African day a cold one of these who be quite refreshing however I find it falls a bit short. Glad for the chance to try this African beer but unless I'm in African I probably won't be searching this one out.

Who can resist Dumbo?

Something I've picked up from time to time when our paths crossed. Admittedly for the label because there's little else to recommend it.A lightweight lager with minimal hops and malt laden with adjuncts to round out the recipe.

Not worth a premium price but worth a laugh.

Pours a yellow straw color. The smell is a pleasant slightly sweet grain.
Mild malt taste up front with a slight bitter aftertaste.
Pretty average.

L: Good carbonation, white head with large bubbles that left a thick lacing. Light gold color.
S: Bit of sour funk - kind of like sourdough bread but really really mild.
T: Doesn't really follow the nose. Rather flat, not complex malt.
F: Thin

Pours gold in color, clear, with 1/4 inch head. Taste is honey and sweet toasted malt. Above average, tasty, clean lager. Not something I would rush out to get, but certainly enjoyable.
