12 oz bottle, poured into a mug at ~40 degrees F.

Appearance: Pours a clear straw gold, and forms a large, billowy head of thick white foam with good retention. Lacing was quite noticeable.

Smell: Biscuit malt forms the bulk of the smell, though oddly sweet, with an almost honey-like note to the sweetness. Grassiness is also present, with something vaguely rootlike.

Taste: Again, biscuity malt with that honey sweetness, like eating a biscuit that has honey drizzled over it. Grassy notes abound throughout the tasting process as well, alongside a presence best described as pollen. It's a simple taste profile, though not a bad one.

Mouthfeel: Light, lively, and drinkable.

Overall: Not a bad lager. Not the greatest lager ever brewed, but the honey-sweetness adds a bit of interest that I haven't run across often with pale lagers.

Had in bottle (many times) in Kenya while on Safari

L: This one pours a clear golden color with nice white head that falls rapidly.

S: Malts and faint hops. A little skunk.

T/F: Pretty standard macro lager... would be hard pressed to differentiate it in a taste test from other efforts. Crisp and malty. Very mild hops at the finish. Most bottles had a little skunk but no better/worse than your average macro lager. Pretty well carbonated.

O: No better or worse than your average macro lager, and if nothing else they were crisp and refreshing... especially when out in the Massai Mara park in Kenya. Cheap and a nice change from water. I wouldn't go out of my way for it, but when you're in the middle of nowhere it hits the spot. Also... love the bottle.

L: Brilliant pale straw under a ½” white foam cap that provides thin lines of lace.
S: Something sweet and earthy – almost rooty – on the nose, fresh, light perfume and grains.
T: Light sweet grains with something minerally to chalky on the finish. Very faint tart green apple.
F: Crisp, sparkly finish. Very light and effervescent and refreshing.
O: Unimpressive but drinkable.

Mostly clear, but not as much as others of this style. Golden straw colored with white foamy head of low retention, but filming and lacing. Smell is grainy and incredibly sweet from malt and adjunct, not so much esters/alcohol. A strong rice and barley taste, mildly sweet, followed by small hop bite, but mellows back down with grainy retro-olfaction. Thin, a little less than smooth, highly carbonated, crisp and refreshing. Fairly distinct from other Adjunct and Pale Lagers, making less of an attempt to mask adjuncts.

Purchased at the LCBO for just over the $3.00 mark for a 500ml bottle. Served at 4deg C in a draught glass

A- Opens well and pours a 1" white head that is gone in seconds. Lighter gold color and filtered clear

S- Some malt and the tiniest of hops. Touch metallic

T- It's like rice beer. Very similar to a bad Mexican beer.

M- Similar to a Bud.

O- Not a very good beer. Will not buy again unless there is nothing else to drink.

Food Pairing

This beer will go with...... Anything you would pair with a low quality Mexican beer

Enjoy

Appearance 3.0: Pours out the familiar light yellow, almost clear color of a lager. Weak head and -surprisingly-- OK lacing.

Smell 3.0: Has an interesting bouquet. Malt and a sharp almost acidic smell. Somewhat grapey. Certainly not off-putting.

Taste 3.25: Front is void of any real taste, just cool liquid. Middle is where a wave of light, treacly malt sweetness comes in along with a slight sourness. Also getting some lagery cooked veggies and corn at this level as well. Finish is smooth and somewhat dry with a pleasant lagery finish. Aftertaste is where a slight taste of corn comes back in, but only briefly and is not unpleasant.

Mouthfeel 3.5: Very light and refreshing in the mouth, with an almost perfect level of conditioning for this style.

Overall 3.25: Good beer. I am sure this would be like finding an oasis in the desert if you could drink one (or more) of these on a hot day in equatorial Africa, where it is brewed. This is a good lager and not everyone is fond of, or really appreciates a lager these days...with good reason. Regardless, this is a refreshing beer and worth a try if you are at a restaurant or at a beer store.

On the sweet side of Lagers, generally average beer but drinkable. Nothing to hate, nothing to stand out.
