I first tried this during Belgian Fest at Ashley's in Westland, MI, and was blown away!

Pour: Deep brown color (almost like black coffee) with a thick, beige head
Aroma: Yeasty and sweet
Flavor: Very malty and a bit sweet. This beer has an almost red wine-like finish.

Currently enjoying from a bottle, served in a tulip glass.

Oh but to be enjoying this on a crisp winter’s night. Pours dark reddish brown with a small silky beige head. Aroma wafts with dried fruit, brown bread, oak barrel smells. taste is just as rich, smooth and creamy. Nice sticky aftertaste and very, very mild alcohol burn. A treasure.

Poured from 0.33 bottle into goblet.
L: Turbid dark brown with a weak foam head.
S: Wine notes, plums, caramel.
T: Sweets fruits, raisin, appleas.
F: Fuul body and soft carbonation. Great balanced.
O: may be too sweet but aftertaste is great as taste.

on draft at the Comet Café in Milwaukee. a solid grand cru (quad) overall but I can't say that there was any particular quality that stood out. $9 a draft is pricey, too, for what is IMO a solid if unspectacular beer.

L - Poured into a tulip glass, this beer produces a beautiful dark ruby color with a tan head that slowly fades. Leaves behind some good lacing.

S - Some pear, apple, and nail polish remover, similar to some Tripels and Quads I've had before, like a Westmalle. Not a very strong smell.

T - It has a sweet fruity taste with a hint of spice. There's some apple, pear, and a sharp nail polish remover flavor. Perhaps some coffee and chocolate notes, though pretty hidden. Sweet, bready characters also break through. The nail polish remover taste lingers and lends to a bitter-sweet after taste that has a small hint of pears and malt. It also shares some red wine qualities.

F - Medium carbonation, nice and creamy, dry. Good stuff.

O - A fairly good Quad, no doubt. Not quite as good as others in it's style, but above average, and I think it's price reflects it's quality. Still, it's a great beer!
