Bottle: Poured a deep cloudy brown color ale with a small foamy head with minimal retention and no lacing. Aroma of sweet Belgian malt is dominating. Taste is also dominated by some huge Belgian malt with some nice honey notes. Medium body with limited filtration and medium carbonation. Alcohol was not noticeable. I guess the carbonation could have been liver and a fuller body would have also been appreciated.

Bottled on 11-2003...

Appearance: chestnut/ruby brown, good clarity, not a whole lot of head though

Aroma: full malty scent with a lacing of honey, dark malts, herbal hops, a touch of spice, acetone

Flavor: mild malt sweetness at first which gets a bit sweeter as the mouthful warms up, a touch of honey and darker malts, some hop flavor, yeast, clove, finish is semi-sweet with a caramel and hops aftertaste

Mouthfeel: medium-full body, gentle carbonation, alcohol warmth

Overall Impression: Quite a nice beer. Reminds me of a milder version of Rocheforte 8. The honey is in the background rather than overpowering the beer with mead-quality. It's a bit sweet for my taste though.

Bottled aug-05. Litle head due to very low carbonisation and a very darkbrown beercollor with quiet some haze. Nose is sweet candy, roasty and darkmalts, litle oxidated followed by sweetnes dipped in alcohol to be endeded by a good roasty bitterness. Low carbonisation fits brew and overall a smooth and plesant mouthfeel for a 8% ABV brew. Good taste but sweetness tempers IMO drinkability but still enjoyable though.

From cervezasespeciales. In Teku glass. Watching Sons of Anarchy 4x04. Spicy touch that isnt overwhelming and can be enjoyed in mouth and nose. A bit watery

"Gebotteld" Dec. 05, consumed on 26/01/06. Served cool in a broad-rimmed goblet.

A: pours a murky and cloudy dark reddish amber hue, with bits of yeast-sediments all over the place; coming with a very thin, fluffy off-white beer head sustaining well; quite low carbonation.
S: strong aroma of sweet dried dates, raisins, blueberries, honeyish and candied-sugary note, on top of a lightly caramel and nouget-like creamy maltiness with a mild touch of mixed spices. A touch too sweet on balance, but not without a nice sour edge in the background.
T: creamy-textured, honeyish malts upfront, followed by a lightly syrupy flavour and lots of mild, bittersweet aftertaste of unripe dark fruits like plums and dates, while a touch of candied sugar, spice (licorice?) and a faintly ashy touch of hops lingers in the, moderately bitter finish. Slightly sticky in the very end, coz of candied-sugar I suppose?
M&D: pretty light on the mouthfeel and easy to quaff, this beer's colourful palate outperforms the nose in terms of complexity and depth. A very easy-drinking, solid and more-ish Kerst/Christmas ale it is.
