Great find on my last trip to Boone, friendly, knowledgeable staff, great selection, clean, a little cramped but that didn't take away from the experience...highly recommended

I honesty can't imagine a better beer store. The selection is amazing. The people are incredible. The vibe is welcoming and laid back. If I lived in Boone I would go there way too often..but it'd be worth it.

Truly everything that you can ask of a beer store. An absolutely great staff who try virtually all of the beer on their shelves and can recommend pretty much anything to anyone whether they are a craft aficionados or are used to buying cases of light beers from the grocery store. Their selection is absolutely fantastic as well and is constantly rotating which means although your favorite beer may not be there one week, something really good is bound to have taken its spot on the shelf. They also usually have a decently stocked singles cooler and if it's not too full they will pretty much always let you break something up so you can try it first. The only thing I could possibly even begin to comment on is that their selection tends to run a bit on the expensive side, occasionally you can find the beer from some of the bigger craft breweries a little cheaper at the nearby Harris Teeter, but it's hardly surprising for a bottle shop in a tiny mountain town to cost a bit more than average for some of their stock.

My appreciation for Peabody's has only grown as i've gotten more into craft beer, it was the first bottle shop that I went too and the more I stop in places the more it seems how lucky it was that I had one of the best ones in the region just down the street. this is far and away my favorite bottle shop and i'm only sad that I haven't gotten to be a customer here longer!

This place has so many amazing beers it blows your mind. They have obviously been around for a long time and it shows with their selection. They know what they are talking about and their beers are so good.

OMG!! Pretty much sums it up for me. Got lucky just spending time in Boone for a few days and had to drive by on way to and from our room. Knowledge ain't much unless shared. Chris and Kirby shared! Never been to a store with anything close to the selections at Peabody's. Well done.

They had a lot of uncommon beers from around the world, a large selection of Belgians and sours. Prices were slightly above than average for the area, but not outrageous. The staff seemed willing to help and knowledgeable about their current stock. It certainly seems like this would be the place to go to find something you've never heard of before.

If you're in the area it's most definitely worth a visit!

I travel all over the eastern US for work and peabodys has one of the best selections of beers I have seen. The staff in particular Kirby was great. They will see me every time I come up to this area and I will advise other people to go there. It is worth the trip even if it is out of the way from where you are going. People of Boone you are lucky.

Awesome. Chris hooked it up with some great Western NC brews as well as with something out of the cellar. Can't wait to get up there this year for their annual cellar sale!

My favorite bottle shop period! Always has plenty of quality beers in stock and a nice variety of ciders for the lil' lady. GReat place to get local and NC beers also. The growler station is an awesome addition. The service is outstanding and the staff is friendly and knowledgeable.

My favorite beer store in the Southeast! Most knowledgeable, friendly and helpful staff I have encountered, and they always seem to remember me. When I stopped by on my birthday last year, Chris was nice enough to find a bomber of something really special for me. And Benny is always very helpful at distracting my wife with wine whilst I peruse the beer. As a big Olde Hickory fan, they always seem to have plenty of what I am looking for. Hands down the best I have found in NC, and always a mandatory stop when heading up to Beech!

I have never stepped foot in their brick and mortar building but on two occasions they have hooked me up via mail, and once for a case of a big bottle, (and one that was very special to them!). Check them out at all costs and cheers to them for their customer service and appreciation to the craft beer world!

Emailed Chris, the beer manager, before my visit. That was a great decision.

Drove up from Hickory one night after work because Chris said "you won't regret making the drive." He was right. Greeted by him at the door and shown around the entire place. He and two other employees talked with me for nearly an hour as I shopped and asked questions about local goods. They knew everything any beer store employees should know about the products they're selling.

Service was perfect. Selection was great and thoughtfully curated. Lots of global beers mixed with a great variety of US craft. The atmosphere was really cool, too. Boone, being a mountain and college town, just has a great vibe. Peabody's fits in perfectly.

One of the most highly recommended stores I've visited. Going back this week!

This is the way a beer store should be ran. Great staff, wonderful selection and now a growler stand. I am editing my review, because based upon what I have experienced in other stores as far as customer service and selection Peabody's is nearly impossible to beat. I would say that maybe Sams Quick Shop in Durham may have them on selection but its a city five times that of Boone, and Peabody's has stuff that they probably can't get due to distribution issues. That said this is a great place the prices are typical of an independent, but they have stuff you can't find in a grocery store, they have that stuff too, but are you really going into this store for those beers? Anyway props to the guys and I am loving the growler selection. I do apologize for the bad review that other time and I felt it was time to revise that. Also, in regard to the one bottle rule you had that pissed me off initially, at least you were letting the people have one. I went to another store that a friend told me had another difficult to find beer and had obtained and they wouldn't even sell it to me because they only sold it to friends or frequent customers. I think that store is in the process of going out of business, so what I am trying to say is you Peabody's have the perfect business model and keep em coming. I just wish we could get some of those rare Vermont and California beers in NC!

I used to love coming into Peabody's during my time at ASU. The selection is great, especially for the size of the store. Though I've been at stores with greater selection, I don't know that I've ever been to one with as good an atmosphere or service.

Visited Peabody's for the first time this past weekend for the annual Cellar Sale. Didn't know what to think beforehand, but now that I've been, it will be an annual trip for me and my buds!

Chris and all of his staff are extremely knowledgeable and passionate about the beer they sell. Granted, we were there for mostly rare beers and believe me, there were plenty of them. But, even inside where the "normal beers" were located, it was plainly obvious that these guys carry quality stuff. Everything was priced reasonably, and the store was very nice.

As for the sale, that was an epic event. Cases upon cases of vintage and rare bottles, not to mention crazy one-offs from numerous NC breweries outside afterwards. At one point, I have to admit, me and some buddies were sharing a Bruery Bois in the parking lot and one of the Peabody's employees had to come over and do his job. He kindly let us know that their shop wasn't licensed for consumption in the parking lot. Instead of being an asshole about it, he nicely let us know that we should just fill our cups and head back into the roped off "consumption area." At most places, the staff would have flipped shit about something like this. This tells me a lot about their staff and the focus they have on keeping their customers.

I will be back soon, with any luck. Peabody's is definitely one of the best shops I've visited yet (in any state). Thanks for a great time, guys! Cheers!

This is my first time visiting Peabody's and it was for their annual Cellar Sale and first off I have to admit these guys did one hell of a job on putting this event together. Lots of dedication on Chris' end and the dude was a super cool and very knowledgeable as well. I was very impressed by the selection of beers he carries and his staff was just as helpful, friendly and knowledgeable, too. Prices were phenomenal to boot. If Boone was closer I would probably make this a monthly trip, just to support these guys! But I will definitely be returning to next years Cellar Sale and you best believe I am gonna be first in line! And if in Boone before then I will be stopping that is for sure! Hope you enjoy the Get Bent Mountain IPA that Gary aka Redneckbeerz gave you Chris!

Until today I hadn't been in Peabody's since I visited it while hanging with college friends at ASU (sadly that was 8 years ago). Great selection of wine and craft brews. Talk with Chris when you go in, he is extremely knowledgable on beer and seems to have an appreciation for all styles. Can't get over all the different things they had in the shop. Great wine, beer, cheeses, glassware, you name it. If you're not sure, ask. Whether its styles, tastes, vintages, ask. Chris can probably put you on whatever you want or something you've never had before. Picked up some rare stuff that my normal shop didn't have, which is saying something!

My only knock has nothing to do with Peabody's and is more of a knock on Boone. Come on Boone! Join the 21st century with the rest of us and let them serve on site!!! I can only imagine the epic taps that this place could get if given the opportunity. It's an outdated regulation that Boone has restricting any bottle shops from serving on site and it just plain sucks... :gets down off soapbox:

If I lived in Boone, this would be my regular shop. I visit Boone regularly and will ALWAYS make time on my visits to hit up this store. You should too...

This was my first time visiting Peabody's. I had a feeling the selection was going to be great, but it was even better than I expected! There are certainly some expensive beers around, but overall the prices are cheaper here than any of the stores I've visited in Charlotte or Raleigh. While wine isn't my thing, they appear to have huge selection of that as well. Nearly the whole back wall and far corner of the store have coolers full of chilled beer if that's what you desire. Throw in a small selection of specialty meats, cheeses and chocolate at the front of the store, and you have everything you need for a great tasting party! And if you think the store's regular selection is great, you should see the amazing stuff they have in the cellar! Mind-blowing. I can't wait to make it back up for the cellar sale in late June to grab some of the beauties Chris has stashed away!

The place Peabody's really shines though is the service. Chris, the manager, went out of his way to help me out before I made the trip, and his staff showed me around and took care of what I needed while I was there. They are all very friendly and really know what they are talking about when it comes to beer.

Ultimately, all you need to know is that if you love craft beer, you need to find a way to get to Peabody's! Seriously, you won't regret it! Already looking forward to my next trip up there!

Peabody's has a diverse selection of beer suitable to every need. The beers are arranged by style and region making it easy to narrow down your search. If you have trouble coming to a decision the staff is more than willing to help you find something to suit your taste. I've always received great service. The price range varies, beers can get pricey fast but they usually match in quality. Once a year Peabody's holds a cellar sell where you can buy rare and aged beers.

Amazing shop nestled in the heart of Boone. Super friendly and knowledgeable staff, excellent cellar selection. Chris was even nice enough to chat us up and hook me and my brother up with beautiful cellar piece. I went back and bought some repeats of things I tried from there for my cellar. Highly reccomended!

An all-around amazing shop! I make a point to stop here every time I am in Boone, and am never disappointed. From hard to find gueuzes (3F and Cantillon) to barrel-aged treats, the selection is second to none. Everything is well-organized and clearly priced. Lots of cold six packs for the hop fix and even a nice wall of glassware. Whenever I have been in Peabody's, the staff has been extremely helpful and friendly. They have also gone above and beyond, holding a few bottles of Hopslam for me when I got shut out all over Raleigh. They also consistently get all of the available local and national limited releases, and in impressive quantities (74 cases of Hopslam!!) that you don't have to kill yourself trying to get them. In short, get there, NOW!

Peabodys is the only store in Boone with a full time beer buyer, wine buyer, and knowledgeable staff who can help you at any time of the day. If it is available in NC, you can find it here. if you cant find it, they will order it for you, often times for the next day. Full selection of cans for hitting the ski lift, full selection of vintage and rare beers for the apres fireplace. Also a great place to find deals, there is usually a large stack of discounted bottles by the tasting bar.

Speaking of tasting, they hold a weekly event on Tuesday nights that features a brewery, region, or theme, offering free tasting of 5-6 beers and often times a brewery representative to answer questions.

Tons of cold beer, two walls of the store are refrigerated, and they have a killer keg selection (best in the area) in the walk-in. Meticulously maintained shelves are always looking fresh and just really add to the overall experience.

Unfortunately, the town of Boone does not allow these guys to pour draft beer, or allow us to enjoy beer on the front porch, though great food options and wine by the glass is offered. Full assortment of snacks, cigars, and cigarettes make it a one stop shop. They also deliver through Boone Takeout, which can be a big save at 11pm on a Friday night.

When they say its the best, they aren't lying.

Love these guys! Free beer tastings every Tuesday and free wine tastings every Saturday. There are other tastings that cost for the more dedicated wine connoisseurs. They have a great selection of both wine and beer and also have great cheeses and accessories.
