Pours a two finger cream head that fades slowly to a thin layer leaving a good lace. Medium carbonation and medium bodied. Hazy amber color. Nose is light grapefruit hops. Flavor is grapefruit hops but is balanced with some caramel sweetness. $2.05 for a 12oz bottle from Colonial Spirits, Acton, MA.

Appearance is copper, head with good retention

Aroma: Hops, floral scent.

Taste is the floral hops that finishes off with some malt. Level of bitterness is good.

Its good, but I found it to be a bit mild in comparison to other IPA's

Mouthfeel: Lighter side, creamy, goes down well

Drinkability: Milder IPA..and a lower ABV than I'm used to seeing in this style. Its good, but the flavors aren't as intense as they could be. Still, its good..and probably an IPA someone should start out with. Good entrance for the style

From the 12 fl. oz. can. Sampled on August 10, 2015.

A medium amber heady pour with yellow highlights. Good lacing.

Floral, fruity, and pine hop notes with a decent caramel malt ester under it all.

The body tends to fall into the medium range and it is smooth.

The taste exhibits a more fruity character but there are still underlying caramel roasted malts in there. Some lingering bitterness.

Enjoyed on 05.07.09 from a 12oz brown bottle. Poured into a 14oz USA pint glass. Part of a BOTM sample set.

A: Pours a deep amber with a good head that dissipates quickly. Low-medium lacing

S: Malt, w/herbs.

T: Sweet malt, brown bread, citrus and strong hop finish. Def a Amer. IPA

M: Light oil. Malty.

D: I wouldn't pair food with it. Good edge to it. Unfortunately I can name at least 50 better Amer. IPAs I've had...

Cape Ann Brewing Co. Fisherman's IPA

An amber/copper color, a bit deeper than the typical IPA. Well carbonated, lots of bubbles floating up to the surface. A huge cottony off white head with some pretty fantastic lacing leaving a magnificent cling down the glass. Quite a sight! When swirled the foam becomes a frothy cap on top of the beer.

Surprisingly very malty, but with some piney/resiny hop bitterness in the nose. I am getting a old, sherry or scotch soaked wood smell. A deep wood aroma covers up the hop spicyness and hop character. The malt takes over, this should be considered a pale ale or amber with the maltiness! The hops are there, lurking, underneath. Burping leads to an enjoyment of the hops again, more hoppier than the first time.

The taste is similar, a deep resiny hop and malty character. Very different from most IPA's. The hop bitterness is there underlying. The finish is of hops bitterness in the back of the throat.

Thick and syrupy, tastes like the alc. is a big higher than the average. IPA. Nice. Very drinkable, really enjoyable, but unfortunately it is a confused IPA. It much more resembles a malty Pale Ale with ample amounts of hops.

A: Pours flat with little to no head. Ice tea copper in color. The tiniest of very fine lacing.

S: A sweet malty smell eagerly fills the nose. The absence of any hop smell is odd for an IPA.

T: The taste follows the smell, with some delicious toffee nuttiness. Not what I expected from an IPA. Maybe there's some kind of hoppiness, but it's been completely balanced away. Finishes with some hints of vanilla oakiness.

M: Very flat and smooth. Medium to thick body. The slightest of drying on the sides and back of the tongue at the finish.

D: I like this one a lot even though it wasn't what I expected. A bit heavy for the warm months, but an excellent choice for cool weather. Don't know if it exactly fits the style, but damn good.

Served: in an imperial pint glass.

Drank this one with, you guessed it, William Pang (Queens, NY).

This one pours a very crisp light amber color, with thin head and thick lacing.
Smells very sweet and malty throughout, but follows up with a small hint of floral hops.
The taste is very very sweet, and very very floral. There is a great balance between the hop bitterness and the sweetness of the malts, and they blend very well together.
This feels very thin in the mouth, but leaves behind a fizzly carbonation feeling.
I could definitely enjoy several of these in the same sitting. Not very high in alcohol, and very pleasant to sip on.

As I poured this beer from the bottle I noticed a very dark amber color which is somewhat uncommon in IPA's. The aroma was nice an crisp with a mild flowery hop and some alomost lager characteristics. The mouthfeel was fairly light. The hop taste was light and flowery which stayed pretty consistent to the finsih and aftertaste. This was OK, but I have found better choices.

Pours dark orange with a thick, foamy head that took 3 pours to get it all in there. Such thick foam that I sculpted a little smiley face on my hand with it. Great retention.

Wow, this beer is boring. Smells faintly of floral hops and malt. Tastes of bready malt with some wimpy floral hop bitter at the end. Chalky yeast throughout. Very fizzy carbonation. This is like a practice homebrew.

Got this in a beer of the month club. irony is that its one of the closest breweries to where i grew up, but ive never had it so: bonus!

poured into my new stone tumbler: "fizzy yellow beer is for wussies" extra pale brown color half finger of eggshell head. retention is decent. carbonation is sparse and slow.

smells of grass and thin malty sweetness. not much else.

taste is sweet, only slightly bitter. while subtle, the hop profile is gentle and pleasing. caramel notes come out of the malt as it warms.

carbonation is too big for the rather thin beer. not bottle fermented, wish it was.

very drinkable as it isnt too flavorful. could definitely session this brew.

decent effort from gloucester. i got higher hope for their kolsch tho.

Pours a nice copper/amber with just under a finger of head & plenty of activity from small, fast bubbles. Leaves some gauze lacing.

Smell is the highlight here: mild toffee & caramel notes mixed with a slightly musty bitterness. Not a big smell, but well-balanced & complex.

Taste delivers some cracker-like crispness up front, then earthy hops, a tiny bit of citrus. I'm getting some slightly burnt or "crayon" flavors (this is popping up a lot for me). Kind of buttery. What's interesting is the tiniest bit of strawberry I'm getting in the aftertaste.

The head stays bubbly & creamy, which makes for a fun, active mouthfeel. Not heavy on the bitterness, I could go back for more.

12oz longneck
A) Pours with a two finger head that settles slowly. Amber colored body. Slight haze. Sticky lacing on the drink down.
S) Light hoppy aroma, not much else.
T) Balanced flavor profile. Not over the top hoppy. A good consistency throughout. Notes of buttery caramel and pine.
M) Mediumd body. Crisp. Mellow dryness in the finish.
O) A decent brew. I'd have another.

Pours a copper gold color with a creamy/foamy 1 finger tan head that faded very slowly and left great lacing and rings as it went down.

Smells of sweet malt, toasted grains, floral hops, caramel, sour apple and a metallic odor, perhaps from yeast; not very hoppy for an IPA, and actually more on the malty side.

Tastes of sweet malt, toasted grains, floral hops, caramel, flowers, light yeast, toast or wet bread, biscuit, light spices like pepper and other earthy or grass notes like hay. Like the nose, this is not as hoppy as I would have liked it to be and was a tad bit too malty.

Mouthfeel was quite crisp and yet creamy with overall earthy tones; it has a medium body, light carbonation and a dry finish that tails off as bitter and funky.

A good beer that would go well with barbeque and spicy food, not a great beer on it's own. Not a session beer for me as it was just so average that it didn't get me excited. I've had it in the past and always thought it was decent, but now that I've analyzed it this seems just average.

Appears~ 1.5'' head that lingers well and laces the glass. Cloudy and orangey with carbonation barely visible.

Smells~ Good and clean. Not overpowering. Floral slightly but mostly citrusy.

Taste~ Initial quick burst of hops is quickly lost in huge carbonation. No citrus flavor that is smelled and expected.

Mouthfeel~ Watery and carbonation overload! Not the greatest.

Drinkabilty~ Maybe an average to below average IPA. My initial hopes after pouring and smelling this beer were crushed after tasting. Not great, but not awful, just disappointing I guess.

poured a dark clear copper color. Almost white head resides quickly but leaves giant rings of lacing. A good swirl brings the head back in a hurry.

Aroma is a little faint... But certainly sweet-- from the malts. Has a hop note-- citrusy earthiness.

Taste is also a bit muted. Sweet up front. Nice bittering hops at the back end. The middle is a mix of earth, hard water, and floral citrus hops. Certainly not bad. The taste is delightful, in fact. Is this the best IPA, of course not, but for a small brewery, this is a pretty good local IPA. If this were available, I would certainly drink it, but it is not a hop bomb. Almost more like an English style IPA. It is very nicely balanced.

Carbonation levels are very nice. It is smooth and creamy on the swallow. Surprisingly light body for the color.

Again--- I've had worse. I've had better. This is slightly better than an average run-of-the-mill IPA, if only for how well it's balanced.

Thank you papollo for giving me the chance to try this!

Pours a medium copper color, with an off white frothy head that dissipates with lots of lacing.

Smells of slight piney and citrus hops. Nothing to prevalent, but very much there, and what was there, was nice.

A dash of malts with a heavy bitter taste. A little off balanced and an after taste lingers for a moment, but it's not bad at all.

Medium bodied, and lacking a bit in carbonation with the slightly heavier feel. Otherwise pleasant.

This is a pretty decent IPA, worth a try.
