12oz : pint glass
@ Hoda's Middle Eastern Cuisine

Clear, golden with a foamy white head.

Simple grassy hops, with light notes of sweet, apple esters transitioning into a sweet malty backbone.

Medium body, foamy carbonation.

A decent beer. It's a bit estery for what I would expect from a pilsner, but still pleasant.

(330 ml green bottle, L3075422A0928; purchased single off back of bottom shelf at Total Wine... poured into my Genesee 9 oz tasting glass)

L: polished-clear, pale sepia-colored liquid... it does produce persistent foam on the pour, however, it merely maintains as a thin, messy cap

S: smells like classic Heinie - skunked, grassy, with a slowly swelling cereal maltiness,,, vaguely catty tones, as it goes

T: remarkably thin in malt/grain flavor, bordering on NA territory in blandness... bit of a mineral, near saline finish, taking on some subtle citrus pith and white bread crumb notes in the aftertaste... mildly bitter; more bitingly dry-grassy, near oniony in its mellow peppery spice

F: latently gaseous... relatively extra light-bodied; just short of parching... bitey, as I'd stated... cottony softness to its bounce

O: I believe this is country no. 48, tickety tick... I could see this getting buried beneath characterfully hearty, homestyle foods; a mere palate cleanser this would be, if anything functional... nothing off about it, just nothing on either (2257)

Brasserie Almaza S.A.L. "Almaza"
33cl green glass bottle coded "L3075422A0831". Sampled on 14 July 2023
$6 @ Suraya, Phila., PA

Look: Clear gold beneath a short head of white foam that drops readily and leaves very little in the way of lacing.
Smell: Lightly sweetish and grainy malt.
Taste: As the aroma indicates with a smear of grassy and herbal hops in the background. Possibly an adjunct beer. Light in flavor but at 4.2% ABV that's somewhat to be expected. Mildly bitter.
Feel: Light-medium in body with a soft carbonation that leaves it delicate and smooth.
Overall: I'm sure that this beer is quite refreshing in the heat of summer but beyond that it's fairly lacking in character and not really that well made.

Bottle pour into a tulip glass.
Clear golden appearance, with a foamy white head that recedes quickly to a collar. Grain, scallion, sweet tea notes. Light body and carbonation, watery finish.

Found it at our local Total Wine.

Poured from a bottle into a tall pilsner glass. Bright clear yellow color, brief head, no lacing. Corn smell and taste. Very plain beer. Not bad with pizza. Probably not a repeater.

Poured from 330mL green bottle into a dimpled mug.

Appearance: medium-rich golden hue with a finger of frothy eggshell foam atop. Maybe not the best head retention in the world but not too bad.

Smell: light malt aroma with a bit of a plastic-y adjunct character that is not my jam. Not awful, but not really enticing.

Taste: again, a light malt flavor with a dash of bitterness and a light hop character. The plasticy character is more subdued; it's pretty inoffensive.

Mouthfeel: medium-light body with a decent enough carbonation and creaminess.

Overall: this is a pretty drinkable beer mostly, but it's also not, like, something I need to drink a ton of.

Interesting find at a local store that stocks lots of beers from local and international. Found this and I think it is a new country for me which is getting harder each year.
Reminiscent of a pilsner I get more of a euro pale lager aftertaste with a bitterness. Quite easy to drink. Bit of a skunky smell. Green bottle and no pour so no comments on color.
