Say what you will, but it has a great light malt body and flavor. Refreshing drink.

Poured from a green 11.2 oz. bottle. has a ginger ale color with a 1/2 inch head. Lots of carbonation. Smell is sweet, some ginger and spices. Taste is very light, a bit of spice, like a watered down ginger ale, finishes dry. Feels light in the mouth and overall there are better alcohol free options out there.

Drank straight from the bottle, so I cannot judge appearance fairly. I'll give it a 3, just because that puts it at average, though it probably is less appealing than that. Scent was just malt and slight maize, nothing too unique or amazing, pretty weak actually. Taste was simple, water, a bit of sweet malt, maize. It was like a watery light beer. Honestly, for what it is, a halal malt beverage, I thought it was fine. Mouthfeel was watery, light bodied and highly carbonated. Again, it fit what the drink is, a halal malt beverage, not truly a beer. Overall, it wasn't bad. It was a good, light drink on a hot summer day that went done easy and had a nice enough flavor. I'd drink it again under those circumstances, and really, when you are at a halal market, it's not like you'll do much better than this.

With virtually no colour and a superabundance of carbonation, Laziza looks simply like a collection of bubbles. While its head is impressively built (and its lacing rather ornate), the endless profusion of bubbles (dancing all around, pressed right up against the glass) wins best feature.

Laziza is not de-alcoholized - it was never fermented and thus has never contained any alcohol to remove. Technically speaking, it is not by definition a beer (even though it has three of the four necessary ingredients), so it should be no surprise that it in no way resembles anything like beer.

Its aroma and taste are both in every respect remarkably molasses-like: sweet, dark, syrupy. It's unusual and unexpected coming from something so seemingly light and bright. The profile is likely acquired from the ingredient confusingly listed as "natural identical malt flavour"...

I suspect what that should translate to is 'barley malt syrup'. The beer is certainly malty - tremendously so - but not at all in the conventional way; there's not even a minor trace of cereal grain or corn but instead molasses, brown sugar, artificial honey and cheap balsamic.

And these flavours have incredible, intense sweetness (unlike some non-alcohol beers, Laziza is made with hops. Of course, if it weren't for the ingredients list I never would have known that). It might work in cookies; I'd think a tablespoon should be enough for an entire batch.

Laziza is not at all a typical beer - non-alcoholic or otherwise. If trying to imitate it at home (God only knows why you ever would) I'd suggest boiling some pomegranate juice down until it becomes viscous and sticky. Then fold in some brown sugar and cheap honey. Or, easier yet, just buy some barley malt syrup because that is quite literally all this beverage is.

Laziza, brewed in Lebanon, is an unfermented malt beverage whose ingredients are water, malted barley, maize, hops, citric acid, and "nature identical malt flavor." The name of this beer is perhaps best translated from Arabic as "delicious" in English. I suppose some may find this beer delicious. I didn't. Here's why:

The golden amber body that slowly emerged from the green bottle was somewhat appealing, but the gaseous foam that appeared on top was not. Neither was the swarm of large bubbles that exploded on the surface of the the beer after clinging to the sides of the glass. The appearance of this beer recalls that of warm, overly-carbonated ginger ale.

And its nose is just as sweet. The smell of malt is overpowering; perhaps this is due to the "nature identical malt flavor." No other aromas are discernible.

The taste is intensely sweet and not terribly appealing. No hops, just the sweet malt made of barley and corn. I did find it interesting to contemplate the flavor of pure malt, since this beer, unlike many non-alcoholic brews on the market, is not fermented, which means that there are no yeast flavors present. This fact made it interesting to drink.

The mouthfeel tossed up nothing redeeming. It's gassy like that of most soda pop, which is really what Laziza is. Judged as a beer, Laziza earns a poor 1.0, but judged as a soda pop, it probably deserves an average 3.0.

It is difficult to rate Laziza as beer. If you are interested in drinking sweet barley soda pop, or if you want to see what hop-less, unfermented malt beverages taste like, pick up a bottle. You might enjoy it. But if you are interested in non-alcoholic beer (which is the style according to which I rated Laziza), you will do well to look elsewhere.

Flavour is great, but there is always something off putting about drinking non alcoholic beers. There was Belgian lacing, but didnt last for long, and the head disappeared within a minute or so. While this one pretends to taste like real beer, the flavoured versions of Laziza are actually not half bad!

Poured from a 330ml. bottle.

Appearance: 2 fingers worth of head sits atop a golden body. Foam dissipates in less than a minute.

Smell: Malt molasses, citrus & cereal. Not bad at all.

Taste: UGH!!!! Old molasses but very light and stale cereal. Totally not good.

Mouthfeel: Beyond watery. Like a diluted NA beer. Almost flat and horrid.

Overall: Total fail. Couldn't manage more than a few gulps.
