Thanks to craytonic for opening this one up. Served in a Tripel Karmeliet tulip.

Big pop when it's opened up. First four glasses pour all foam. Strangely enough, it falls away like a soda head, quickly fizzing out and not leaving behind much, if any, lacing. The nose carries light sweetness and a bit of pale malt. Some faint fruit and sweetness. Mildly sweet flavor with a bit of grain. Faint toffee. Light body with moderate carbonation. Interesting, but more of a novelty at this point.

1986 vintage

Graciously shared by craytonic. Thanks Matt.

The cork flies out with a bang. The beer is all head, rapidly fading to a thin wispy cap that leaves sparse lacing on the glass. The aroma is faint, offering some candied malt and sweet butterscotch. The flavor follows suit. The beer tastes old, as to be expected. Fairly low carbonation, and really smooth on the palate. Any hop presence that may have been there has completely faded. A fun experience. One glass was plenty.

1986 Vintage. I perhaps cursed Huhzubendah and Thorpe429 with this.

Huge pop when I removed the cap. Enormous head fills the glass. Not particularly oxidized given the age (I think the best by date was 20 years or so ago), some candied malt, toffee and caramel. I do appreciate the novelty of now being able to say "which La Folie?" when someone mentions the new belgium beer, even if there is an extra l.
