Good place to buy beer in Torrington. Which is kind of an outdated and depressing city, but if you happen to be in the area, you might as well drink !

The selection is good, with a solid selection of new england micros in addition to the normal selection of macros that you would expect from a liquor store. This place is better than most other competitors in Torrington. The value is reasonable. I enjoyed the Berkshire, Sam, and some other New England offerings that they carried when I stopped by.

Small store with a few coolers of craft six packs, one of bombers, and a row of 12 packs. The six pack selection has a good, local selection with a lot of the popular craft beers available. You won't find every variety of the breweries that are available, maybe 1-3 varieties. The bomber selection is solid, there is always new stuff coming in. There are also shelves of imports, a few singles, and more obscure beers next to the coolers. The service is really good here. Guys at the counter are friendly, and employees will talk beer.

Known to me as The Cork.

This place is not real close to home, but I usually try to stop in when I'm in the area because their selection varies a bit from other stores.

Smallish place, a little cramped quarters, beer is in the back. They have the ususal suspects in macros and micros, plus one small section of shelves with stuff you just don't see anywhere else, including several vintages of JW Lee's. Lots of singles available, but check the dates. Good selection of bombers, they seem to also get some of these that you don't see anywhere else, or they're the first to have new releases.

Prices are reasonable, staff is always pleasant and helpful. I don't think I've ever been in there when someone hasn't said hello and asked me if I needed any help. A bit of a challenge to navigate getting in and out of their parking lot, but worth stopping in.

If you're in Torrington or surrounding area, this is about the only large package store option you have. Sure there's tons of family run ones and grocery stores, but this one is twice the size than any of those so it should be much better... sadly, it really isn't. This store is like 90% Wine/Liquor.. only a small section to the side is devoted to beer, with over half of that being macro 30's and the such. There's always a mountain of craft 12 packs, with the usual seasonal offerings and variety packs, nothing really too special. The turnover on this section is very low though... for the past year the same 12 packs are still in the same spots, no new breweries or varieties offered, you would think they would want to mix it up and offer new ones but I guess not. Cooler selection of 6 packs doesn't seem to rotate too much either, same stuff is always there. Watch out for old beer here.. on more than one occasion I took home beer that was over a year out of date, my record being 2 years on some Smuttynose IPA... never take a 12 pack or 6 pack from the top, pick from the bottom where the fresh stuff is stocked. Prices for macro's are actually some of the lowest in the area while micro stuff is cheaper at any grocery store/local beer store. Staff isn't very pleasant either, always seems to be a long line here and it's almost like you're a disservice to them by just checking out. Luckily I drive past 3 or 4 better beer stores on my way to work but if you live in Torrington, I feel sorry you don't have a better "big store" option.

Also goes by The Cork Fine Wine & Spirits

This place never stops amazing me... whenever I read about a new beer that I want, this place always seems to have it. They do a very good job with hard to find Micros... Rogue, BBC, Bershire Mountain Brewers, Oskar Blues, Victory, Avery, Southern Tier...

Service is great, someone almost always asks me if I need help..
Talk to Miles, he is very helpful.
Price is good.. some stuff is a dollar or two more.. some is a dollar or two less..

Beer is always fresh.

This is my favorite place to buy beer in Torrington. They have a good selection of both domestic and imported varieties. They may not have everything from a given brewery but many hard to find beers can be found here, and from what I can tell they do a good job of varying their selection through the seasons to accomodate seasonal offerings. Some examples of things that i've found interesting here are: almost every samuel smith beer a good selection of DFH, sierra nevada, a lot of belgian beers, avery (the first place I've seen avery in CT) and many many more I would need a pen and some paper to write down the long list of great stuff they have on hand. They don't allow you to go in and make mixed sixes but they do have a large selection of single bottles and I'm sure they would be willing to help you out if you wanted to try something that wasnt' available as a single. Maybe the best place for beer in northwest CT, not the best place in CT but very nice all the same.
